Chapter 13 - The Dilemma

Last night Helomoto believed he had his big break. Practically the entire office used him to staple all the briefs they had printed to prepare for a meeting with a conglomerate client. He was worn out and then placed in the Xerox corner by the computer. He does not do well with stress as it increases his flatulence and that can sometimes keep him up the entire night.

TOOT

Helomoto tooted and accidentally flew two inches. The gas was bad today.

Tooot tooooot.

He hit the mouse and then the keyboard.

The motion turned the monitor on. "Unbelievable," thought Helomoto. He waited until he could muster up another toot.

TOOOOOt

He slid the mouse and clicked on a file.

The entire night he practiced using the computer and while at first it took him an hour to conduct a simple Google search, by the end of the night he had improved significantly.

"Melon Archuleta Melon," he searched.

He found Melon's MySpace account, her personal blog and photography account. Everything was floral, included cryptic lyrics about heartbreak, pictures of food, and sunsets. He scrolled down to the posts from a few years ago and found Melon had a furry phase- how interesting. Helomoto rolled his eyes.

"My goodness," he thought, "she was even more sickly sweet in real life."

"Mary Begum," he searched and found that she had been a CPA for almost 40 years. She was close to retiring and had spent the last 5 years at JSC. She had won an award for forensic accounting. She was one smart cookie.

Helomoto thought about the conversation he witnessed between her and Apple and then the one between Apple and Lucifer and then between Mary and Che. His mind hurt.

"What was going on?"

Apple seemed genuinely concerned with Mary's predicament that funds were being embezzled. But she acted extremely suspicious next to Lucifer and then again with Che.

If she and Mary were close like Che mentioned, why would she tell Lucifer that Mary was on to her.

Mary had mentioned to Che that they were no longer close. What if their friendship had ended?

Mary could simply take this knowledge and her receipts to HR- what was stopping her?

Something didn't add up.
