Two persons could be seen overseeing the beach and talking with each other. However, if one were to look closely enough to see their faces, one would see quite a funny scene, because one of the two had a crazy expression on his face and meanwhile the other looked like he had died, as he was completely pale.
The reason why Max had such a lifeless face, was because Edgar informed him of a very important factor, to which he previously remained completely ignorant. He realized just now how foolish and stupid he was. This was a complete wake-up call from Edgar, because up until now he thought about the being poisoned like this: 'Yeah well, if I get poisoned I should have some time to get some Neutrolizing Boluses and the worst that could happen is thatI will probably just feel a little bit sick.'
A huge miscalculation by his part. Max looked with fear in his eyes at the jellyfish and told himself to never mess with them, because most likely the reward, is probably not worth the risk.
Edgar noticed this and put him out of his trance:
"Don't worry, young tarnished. The jellyfish are peaceful creatures by nature, and unless you provoke them, they won't attack you."
"Yes, I know that already... anyway, let's continue", answered Max.
"That's what I have been waiting to hear. So, I wouldn't recommend dropping down from up here, as you will probably break a bone or two on impact. So our only way down would be using the ladder there, but I can see one missbegotten and there could be a few more, which we are unable to see as they are hidden by the walls."
Max nodded and added:
"Yes, actually I believe that a big one also there. Therefore, we should ignore the smaller one we can see and focus on that one. With the element of surprise, for the two of us, it shouldn't pose a big problem to kill it before it has the chance to do anything."
Edgar had a skeptical look on his face.
"But this would leave our backs completely exposed, and what if it's just a normal one? Or even multiple missbegottens. Or in the worst case that there isn't a missbegotten at all."
Max understood why Edgar was against his plan.
"You are right, but what if there is the big one like I said? I alone cannot kill it in one attack. Did you already forget what happened before? You pierced his body with your halberd, and he was still capable to fight. If I were you, I would rather take the risk."
Edgar then proceeded to weigh up the pros and cons and ultimately said:
"Alright, there better be a big one, but if not, and I happen to lose an arm, I will take yours and graft it onto me."
Max grip around his Bloodhounds fang tightened and just when he was about to respond, Edgar added:
"Just kidding, I think that the act of grafting is a gruesome one, but you better be right."
Max didn't comment on that, but just said:
"Let's go. "
Then, the duo sneaked as quietly as possible under the moonlight, across the bridge. As they planned, once they were close, Edgar and Max started running.
When Max crossed the bridge, he blindly trusted his knowledge from his previous life and jumped in the air towards the position where the missbegotten was and swung his sword overhead. In addition, he also infused both is arms with mana and attacked with all his might. Unfortunately, he missed the missbegottens head by a few centimeters, but instead he cut very deep into its shoulder.
The missbegotten woke up screaming in pain and wanted to retaliate, but already a few seconds later, Edgar killed it with the Iron Cleaver. Its underling, however, was in a state of shock and didn't know what to do. It just woke up due to the screams and the first thing it saw were two humans who murdered its superior and then turned around to look at it. Only then did it finally realize what happened and raged at the two humans. But unfortunately it was already too late, its slow reaction speed allowed Max and Edgar to recover from their disadvantageous position, and this mistake extinguished all hope to damage in any form the human duo.
"Well, I have to apologize young tarnished, it seems you were right. There really was a big missbegotten. But weren't you a little bit too reckless, jumping in blindly? Luck truly must be on thy side.", said Edgar.
"Thank you.", answered Max and thought:'Well I wouldn't consider myself lucky...'
"Alright then, I propose we should hurry up, because if the Leonie Missbegotten was asleep before, it definitely isn't now, due to the screams."
Max nodded, and therefore they used the ladder on the right to drop. As they traversed the path to the gate to the boss, the duo was especially careful not to anger any of the jellyfish. Soon, they were before it, and they then saw the red beast staring at them and flashing its teeth. As if it was waiting for them.
The beast then began to slowly walk towards them, in return Edgar used this moment to cast Golden Vow, and Max cast Order's Blade and that marked the beginning of the fight.
Then the duo ran through the gate and charged at the beast, who also began to run. Max and Edgar had a similar strategy, like when they fought the big missbegotten. So they split up in different direction and tried to encircle the Leonie Missbegotten. In response, Leonie had to decide which one of the humans it wanted to target. For the beast, this wasn't a hard choice, as it targeted Edgar from the beginning, since it bore the most hatred against him.
At this moment, it became clear that Edgar was really experienced in close combat, furthermore it also proved his abilities as a commander because he kept his fight with the beast close to Max, so Max could deal damage to it from the distance, with fireballs.
When the Leonie Missbegotten swung its sword, Edgar moved his body in a weird way and with the Iron Cleaver he tipped the incoming attack, successfully misdirecting it. This action also put the missbegotten out of its momentum, meaning that it wasn't able to continue attacking immediately. So, the commander had a chance to attack himself, and he managed to inflict a small cut on the red beast. Then, he skillfully repositioned himself so that Max was always directly behind the beast.
Max was amazed by the skill, Edgar was demonstrating, as he was literally toying with the beast, meanwhile he didn't stop casting Flame Sling. Eventually the beast's back was completely burned and since it just continued to suffer damage fighting Edward, it changed its target to Max.
The beast screamed in rage and jumped at Max. Unlike Edgar, the tarnished choose to quickstep the attacks. The missbegotten was blinded by rage and roared and continued attacking without any sign of stopping. So Max had to quickstep more than 10 times in a row, in order to avoid the sword. As Edgar saw this, he was surprised at the immense stamina which Max had.
However, the beast then suddenly decided to do a delayed attack and that caught Max completely off guard, which resulted in him dodging too early.
This time, Max had no other choice but to try to block the attack. When the blades collided, the tarnished was pushed back by the sheer strength the attack contained. And another attack even stronger than the one from before soon followed, which Max also had to block. This time the attack threatened to make Max lose his balance. He knew that if he were to fall, that everything would be over, so he channeled mana into his legs, to prevent him falling.
And it worked, furthermore he also manged to quickstep his way away from the missbegotten, as it's had to recover some stamina too. Soon he was panting next to Edgar.
"You got some amazing stamina, tarnished!", said Edgar loudly, and then engaged again with the missbegotten.
Max then took a few moments to recover some of his stamina, as he was at his end, and then encircled the Missbegotten once more.
The Leonie Missbegotten was desperate. It seemed like it couldn't touch its aggressors, furthermore, the pain and damage it's receiving from the fireballs is immense. In addition its torso and arms were covered in small cuts. So it roared loudly.
At this point, Edgar revealed a smile on his face, he knew this moment very well. The beast is cornered and these are the last moments of the fight.
"Let's go tarnished!! A little bit more, and it's finished!", screamed Edgar.
Hearing his words, Max also revealed a smile. The Leonie Missbegotten then unleashed its most powerful attacks, but it was useless as they were all "parried" by Edgar.
But then something completely unexpected happened. As Edgar diverted the attacks, the Iron Cleaver broke under the sheer might of the last stand from the Missbegotten.
Edgar couldn't believe his eyes, neither could the Missbegotten believe its luck.
