Thanks to Hen're'it acknowledging Cile as she did, ushering in a new era, the battle pit gained a following. It evolved into a place where disputes were settled, and capabilities were tested—a proving ground for the worthy.
Zobi, choosing to test instead of letting others judge, had his guards, Krervel and Scayrith, watch closely. The young contenders faced the pit, and none managed to remain standing for more than five breaths.
"~So, who is next?~" Zobi's commanding yet joyful voice resonated. He found enjoyment in this unusual pastime.
"~Can I go, Uncle Zobi?~" The voice, accompanied by shudders, hinted at intensified visions and deepening dread.
"~Little Re', I'm sure your mother would...~"
His sentence was cut short, and a wave of apprehension washed over him.
"~Her mother would watch and cheer her on just as she would any of her other children.~" Hen're'it's smile from the edge of the pit added a layer of anticipation to the unfolding spectacle.
"~Now, trihead, I hold you to honor the rules and not go easy on her.~" Zobi's left eyebrow developed a protruding vein as he sheepishly and vigorously nodded at Hen're'it before turning to face his niece.
Re'itt, full of energy, bounced in place, dashing toward Zobi head-on. He commended her bravery, but as he looked up, water struck him from above. Confusion set in as he realized the sky was clear. Suddenly, he felt as if he were in a raging river, waves crashing over him, pulling him under. The challenge intensified as a large serpentine creature darted toward him, its body lost in the darkness of the raging river. The creature's eyes, however, conveyed a profound sense of impending doom. Violently struck, Zobi was sent flying into the pit wall, disoriented and questioning the reality of the situation.
As Hen're'it stared with excitement, she had just witnessed Re'itt unleashing her essence. The power she displayed overwhelmed Zobi, and the realization thrilled Hen're'it. Even for her, the sheer intensity caused the hairs on her body to stand up. In that moment, she saw the potential for her daughter to ascend into a goddess of unparalleled strength. The pit had witnessed not just a battle but the birth of a new power, leaving an indelible mark on the evolving traditions of the SkelDhar tribe.
