Everyone is waiting, quietly waiting for something to come out of the darknest. Only the air whistling and sound of steps getting near them could be heard. The sound of the steps are getting nearer and nearer.
"Don't shoot," A cool commanding voice came from where they were looking.
The leader frowned and asked. "Who are you?"
Finally a figure appeared. It's a beastmen with golden hair and fur circling on his wrist. His iris color is golden with a slit of black inside. "Travelers. We are traveling and looking for a place to stay permanently."
'Tiger' The trader's leader immediately identified the beastmen who came out. "You are meat eaters." He looks at the beastmen who appeared behind the Tiger beastmen. There are three tiger beastmen, two puma beastmen and four leopard beastmen. There is only a single Rabbit beastmen with them. It is a weird combination of beastmen. The fact that they could stand each other and not prey on the rabbit beastmen is unbelievable. Yet here are they, standing in front of them.
The tiger beastmen should be the leader of the newcomers. Scars on his chest are glaring, some are in his arms and even a bite scar on his leg is there. His face has a scratch from above his eyebrow down to eyes. Most of them also have so many scars. There are only two beastmen standing with them that have not much scars. The rabbit beastmen and another tiger beastmen were the ones who had less scars. They also look somewhat weaker than their people.
The tiger beastman nodded, "Most of us, yes." He looked at his back and nodded again. He gave a signal to a rabbit beastman near him.
The rabbit beastman stepped up, "You don't need to worry. We are not here to fight or loot." He gave his best smile, assuring them that they are not anything dangerous. If it's just him, they might believe him but behind him…. They really look like some beastmen who will fight just to loot them.
The Trader Leader's look at Jia Ting. He didn't know what he should decide on. The trader leader is new and just took on post this season. He never encountered this situation either when he was still a member. His dad, the former trade leader, never mentioned such a situation either.
Well… He also can't blame his dad as it's almost impossible to encounter a huge amount of this kind of beastmen randomly in the forest. They might encounter other bad beastmen but they are mostly beastmen they could take on with numbers.
But the group in front of them. If we are talking about numbers, Fox beastmen can win. However, fighting is not just about numbers. It is also about strength, speed, stamina, and more. The big issue here is that their lives are in line. They are sure that most of them will die and be gravely injured if they fight. There is only a slight possibility of winning but it will definitely be a huge sacrifice. So fighting is definitely out of the question.
Their kind of beastmen are located very far away from their territory. As far as he knows they are located in the dark deep north of the forest.
Surprisingly they are now here. They might not know that the law in their location is stricter than any other place. If they really want to live in a peaceful place, then living here is the best choice but it will be a huge change for them.
What the information they got is that it is full of chaos there. There are definitely some laws but it was much more cruel and beastmen kept killing their own using their own battle field or some sort. It also means that they are used to fighting and touching the gates of death.
Jia Ting stepped up and asked, "What do you need from us?"
The tiger beastman looked at Jia Ting. His expression turned serious. "Our scout," he then looked at the puma beastman who just jumped down the tree. He was up on the tree, blending in the darkness. "spotted you while patrolling. Are you traders?" He went straight to the point. The tiger beastmen got a feeling that he should just tell him what he needed.
No one spoke and just looked at them "..." Jia Ting looked around and didn't see anything that could be traded.
The rabbit beastmen shook his head and said, "We just want to trade. The goods are in our place. We will bring it here once it is confirmed that we can safely trade."
The team leader then asked, "What do you have?"
"Meat, fur, skins and some kind of fruits," the tiger beastman answered him.
He nodded, "What do you need?" They do need extra of everything they want to trade.
The rabbit beastman chuckles, "Salt and other things that can make our food tasty." He scratched his nape and grinned.
The leader of the trader feels relieved. It is what they have the most. Salt and taste ingredients are what they never lack. They are mainly trading with two tribes that produce the salt. They don't like going out for trade so those tribes will sell it cheap for meat, fruits and other goods.
The trader leader hummed and said, "I want our inspector to check the goods for."
The rabbit beastman asked curiously, "Inspector?"
"Yes." He pointed at one of their inspectors to signal him to explain.
As usual, the inspector stepped up and explained what his work is. "We check meat, fur and other goods and grade them from excellent to poor. The more excellent the goods are, the more things you can trade."
They all immediately understood what it means, "Got that."
"Wou tell them to bring the carts over," the tiger beastman ordered.
"Yes." Wou the leopard beastman nodded and went away with another one.
The tiger beastman looked back and informed them how much they would like to trade. "We have three carts of goods that can be traded."
"Carts? What is that?" The fox beastman never heard of that word.
