"Okay class, pass out your papers", said Miss Amy, Rem's English teacher. After everyone finished handing their papers to the teacher, the school bell rang. It was 9.30 a.m when Rem looked at his Wall-E watch that Mellow bought for him.
"Alright class, see you tomorrow", the teacher said as she walked out of the classroom.
"Hey Rem!", said a boy sitting next to Rem. "Do you want to eat at the cafeteria with me?", he asked. Rem thought for a second and replied, "sure, let's go".
Jose, the boy who talked to him just now was Rem's partner during English class. According to Jose, he is headmaster's second son. His height was about the same as Rem and in terms of personality, he is friendly and an easy going person. Rem was comfortable with the boy so he liked him instantly.
"I hope the ice creams haven't sold out yet", said Jose as the other children ran past the two of them. "Do you like ice cream, Jose?", Rem asked as he switched his lunchbox to his left hand to avoid anyone from bumping into it. Jose nodded at him and noticed his lunchbox afterwards. "You really like Wall-E, huh Rem?", he said.
Rem nodded and replied, "uh-huh, I like all Pixar's movies. How about you?"
"me? I like Pixar too but I'm more into Dreamworks", Jose said.
The two of them talked about their favourite movies as they walked to the cafeteria. "Rem, do you want ice cream? I'll buy some for us", said Jose as he about to head towards the vending machine. "Can I have the chocolate milk one?", Rem asked. Jose gave him a thumbs up and rushed towards the vending machine.
While waiting, Rem decided to get a table for the two of them. As he sat down, he had noticed that there were a lot of children in the cafeteria and most of them are older than him. He felt nervous.
"Move faster, you wimp!", he heard someone yelled. In the girl's queue, he saw a girl with a ponytail pushing someone. As Rem attempted to take a closer look at the girl, someone tapped his shoulder from behind.
"Wha?!", he startled. He turned around to see Jose holding two cones of ice creams in his right hand while in his other hand was a tray filled with sandwiches, a cup of yogurt, a juice box along with some utensils. "Sorry to keep you waiting, here you go", said Jose as he placed the ice creams and his tray on the table.
Rem scooted over to make some room for Jose to sit down. "Thank you for the ice cream", he said as Jose sat down.
"No worries", Jose replied with a smile. All of a sudden, they heard a loud crash. "Ugh, look at what you've done! It's your fault that my skirt is dirty!", the loud girl from earlier whined. The whole cafeteria went silent as everyone stared at her.
Rem took a glance at Jose and noticed that he had a sickening look on his face as he kept his eyes on the girl's direction. "It's not even noon yet and she's already making a scene", he muttered under his breath.
"Jose..", Rem called softly. However, Jose perhaps didn't hear him. He got up from his seat and when he was about to approach the girl, a voice boomed throughout the cafeteria. "What's with all the commotion?"
A man wearing a dark blue long sleeve shirt suddenly appeared. He took a moment and looked at every student. When his eyes landed on a group of female students, one of them avoided his stares. It was the same loud girl. The man walked up to the girl and said in a low voice, "Miss Anna, meet me at my office after this."
He looked around once more and clapped his hands twice, "alright guys, please continue with your lunch", he said and went ahead to get himself a meal. The girl sat down along with her group of friends and ate her lunch. The whole cafeteria slowly getting lively as the man from earlier left the place with two plastic lunch box in his hands.
"Well..that settled", said Jose while turning towards Rem. The two of them sat down and ate their lunch. Rem ate his prawn fritters that Mellow had packed for him while Jose chewed on his tuna mayonnaise sandwich. After they finished eating their ice creams, the bell rang.
"Rem, can I sit next to you in class?", asked Jose as the two of them rushed to their class. Rem nodded and replied, "Sure, why not?"
