My mind is so occupied with getting ready for the project that I lose track of everything including my phone which gives me quite a scare when it starts ringing from beside me on the kitchen counter where I'm hunched over my laptop typing furiously.
When I read the caller ID I feel even more flastered. The fact that I forgot about River calling me after the ceremony should also be evidence enough that I was too invested on my work.
"Hello?" I call out quietly, not too sure about how I feel with everything that happened before and during the night.
"You're still awake?" I can hear the frown from his tone and I pull my phone away from my ear to check the time.
1:46AM...

"Yeah, how was the party?"
"Same as usual. You left before we could talk."
"Something came up," I tell him vaguely, not too sure how to explain everything yet, "Aren't you supposed to be going to sleep?"
