Chereads / THE FALL OF A GUARDIAN / Chapter 9 - Chapter 8

Chapter 9 - Chapter 8

Ynnah

"Eros, where do you really intend to take me?" I don't know how many times I have repeated that line since we left the university.

And in those few times, I knew he was also annoyed by my unending questions. It's been an hour since we traveled and I still have no idea where he will take me.

I took a glimpse of him when he didn't even bother to answer my question. He just stared at the road while his face is dull and no emotions at all. Well, what's new anyway?

When I made sure he had no intention of answering my qualm, I just irritatedly leaned against the backrest of the passenger seat while my two arms were wrapped around my chest with my lips protruded when the nightmare from last night popped out on my mind out of a sudden.

Is it real? I asked myself and gazed at Eros who was still focused on the road.

My dream is so terrible which seems so real and for the first time in my whole life, I had such a dream. I don't know, but in that terrifying nightmare, different Eros was there and he's trying to kill me. He was telling me something on my head that there was something he wants to get from me and that was...

I blink a few times.

Fuck!

Why?

Why can't I remember anything?

"Why are we here?" I asked while roaming my eyes around the scenic view of a beautiful garden beside the rocky seashore.

The place is beautiful and impressive with its cleanliness all over the area even though it seems like a deserted garden set on the edge of a rocky sea.

"I could feel that you have something to tell me based on your actions a while ago," he said as he sat down on a bench beside me.

"How can you say so?" I wondered as I wrapped my arm around my chest with my raised brow.

"You kept on glancing at me while I'm driving, I can see it on my peripheral vision," he retorted that made my lips protruded.

"Then, why'd you bring me here? We can talk even at the restaurant or maybe just at school earlier. But, why did you bring me here instead? "I asked again.

Not that I don't want him to bring me here, in fact, I thank him very much because he let me know this pleasing and natural scenery. But, I was just really wondering.

"Why not? Don't you like in here?" I was stunned by his question, but he remained calm.

"Of course, I do like here." I trailed. "This place is very beautiful! How did you find it by the way?"

"I just found it yesterday while I was riding my motorcycle around the vicinity," he answered.

"Well, it's beautiful in here," I said.

I sat next to him and like him I was also looking around the whole area. It isn't boring to look at. Add to that the beautiful scenery because of the sea not far from it and the large rocks that look like a design due to the way it is spread across different parts of the beach.

It seems like it was really meant and you really can't think of it as just an abandoned garden that happens to be by the sea. The sea breeze is fresh and cold. This place was like paradise.

I never thought that these places still exist in this century.

"What's bothering you?" he asked in a sudden while I'm busy assessing the place.

I shifted my gaze to look at him but I also wished undone because he was also looking at me.

I took a deep breath before answering his question. "I had a dream last night," I said not looking at him anymore but to my feet instead.

I know it was just a dream but it seems so real and I need to know if he has anything to do with it or it's just a coincidence.

"Tell me about it." He crossed his arms as he waits for me to open up.

I wondered if I should proceed to tell him or not just because I might just be so paranoid. But I still ended up telling him everything about it.

"I was awake when I heard something outside the balcony of my room so I checked it. Then I saw a man standing on the railings and suddenly jump on the ground. I'm still in a state of shock when I took a peek on the ground but there was no dead body except for the man with beautiful black wings standing there wearing a black robe. I was so shocked and unconsciously stepped back, and when I turned around because I was about to go back inside my room, I felt cold and so much fear because he was already behind me handling a beautiful silver knife. Then— " my story hung in the air when I felt my body shivers due to fear and nervousness.

"Then what?" he asked.

I looked at him. "I saw you! It was you, trying to kill me and... " suddenly my thoughts went blank and my memories of that dream gradually faded.

"And? What?"

"I-I don't remember," I said which was very frustrating.

I still memorize that earlier but why did I forget now?

"You saw me in your dreams?" he asked again with his eyes became so darker than usual then he holds me at my arm in a tight grasp and asked me the same question again. "Are you sure that you saw me in your dreams?"

I nod in response despite the fear and nervousness I felt towards him.

"Yes, I saw you there. You were wearing a black robe handling a silver knife. You have black wings, but your hair was different and.. and—" shit! Why can't I remember?!

"I didn't visit you at your dreams," he said still maintaining that dark look in his eyes.

He shifted his gaze up to the sky and massages his skin between his eyes. I could tell that he was thinking about something that could be a problem.

"I didn't visit you in your dreams even once after my fall," he said making his word clear. I stared at him so confused while that question lingered in my mind. "I can."

And that answers my question. I was nudged back not sure if I was scared or what. He was so mysterious and creepy. And one thing is for sure. Eros is not a human! He just reads my mind! And my dream was not just a coincidence!

Is he trying to kill me? But why?

"Do you saw my face at your dreams?" he asked again.

"Y-yes," I answered in a stuttered voice.

He brushed his hair using his fingers in frustration.

"He followed me here," he said in a low voice and took a heavy sigh while pinching the bridge of his nose like he was thinking something hard and I am here with my mouth slightly parted.

"H-he? W-who?" I asked curiously.

"You don't need to know. Let's go, I'll drive you home," he said then stood up and walk away.

Although I couldn't understand what he was saying, I just followed him back to his car. I took a heavy sigh as I give the place a last glance before we left.

"It's really hard! "I complained as I tore off the tenth paper I wrote and just threw it somewhere.

I've been solving this math earlier this morning and I've been sitting here at my study table for an hour but I still can't get it! The formula I used is right, but why is it still wrong?

My older brother is really to blame for this! Why did he even think of me solving this? He is smarter in math than I am! He knows I hate numbers! And one more thing, this is his assignment! Why is he asking me to answer this?

Anyway, my brother was taking up engineering and that was a mathematicians course that includes calculus, statistics, general math, etc. That was his second course because at first, he did IT, he only took a 2-year course and after he graduated as a cum laude he was still not satisfied so he took engineering again.

But what I do not understand is why he asks me to answer his assignments? Does he know the course we took was different? And one more thing, I am very weak in math! Sometimes, I really want to tweak my older brother! He makes me suffer because I always have no choice when he orders!

"The one I'm asking you to do, Ynnah? Have you finished it already?"

And speaking of the devil, he just entered my room but that was immediately his greetings to me. What about me and my poor brain?

"Francis! Why is it so difficult to understand? The formula I used is correct but I still can't answer it correctly!" I said angrily. "Argh! I don't want to answer that anymore! It's your assignment tho, so it's up to you to answer." I said and handed him the paper he was asking me to solve.

He took the paper from me and looked at it at the same time as the papers scattered on the floor of my room containing my problem solving which were all wrong.

"Because the solution you used here is wrong," he said and moved toward me.

He took my pad paper and ball pen then he made a solution using my formula and after two minutes he showed me the result immediately and that's how I gaped.

"When both problems were positive, the answer should be negative but when the problem was both negative, then the answer should be positive. And when you encounter the positive problem was greater than negative, then the answer should be positive ..," he explained to me. "My ghad, Ynnah. You're in college already and you still don't know the solution yet? I already have it in high school."

Sometimes this person has a very enormous pride, I don't even know where he inherited it, Mommy and Daddy are not like that.

"Then you should be the one who answers that and not me!" I said and went to my bed lying down. "You're still torturing me if you can do it alone," I added.

"Sometimes, you should learn to love the things that you hated and enjoy every challenge that you would face with it. Not all the time you can avoid the ones you don't like especially math," he said as he smiled and left.

That man! He must be thankful because I am not good at math!

"Oh? What face is that?" Mandy asked when I went downstairs.

I was bored in the room so I went down.

"Because my older brother is too stupid!" I complained the moment I sat next to her on the sofa.

Nevertheless, it's Saturday now so Mandy is here at home, she visits me and not my older brother. Well, it's not because my older brother is her boyfriend, she always visits him when she comes here to our house.

They are always fighting, tho. My older brother always gets jealous of me because, instead of them being together— Mandy always takes me with her every weekend when she goes to the mall to go shopping and not my brother.

Sometimes, I feel sorry for him so I just lend Mandy to him once in a while. They are always together at their school, but I don't know what's with him. He's just really overreacting! They are both taking up engineering and they are classmates! But I don't know what's with him. Is he just being protective or he is just abnormal so he doesn't get tired of accompanying Mandy?

"Why? What did your older brother do to you again?" she asked again as she faced me.

"He made me suffer, he asked me to answer his math problems even though he already knew that I hate numbers!" I retorted like a child having tantrums causing her to laugh at me which made me even more annoyed.

"You both are so funny and cute!" she said which makes my eyes rolled in the air.

"Mandy, he's not cute—"

"Because I'm handsome." My brother interrupted my sentence.

"Really? Where?" I said sarcastically. "Please inform me because I couldn't see it!" I added.

"On my face of course," he answered proudly.

So proud, huh?

"Wow! Do you have a face? Really?" Sarcasm is still in my voice.

"Is there a human without face?" he said while sipping on his glass of juice.

He's from the kitchen as always.

"Why? Are you a human?"

"Can you two stop now? You both are so noisy! " said Mandy who was already standing between us.

"It's his/her fault!" My older brother and I pointed at each other.

"Whatever..." Mandy walked out as my older brother followed her.

Before he leaves, he gives me his 'Get ready for me later' look first with a hand gesture before leaving to follow Mandy. I just teased him showing my tongue to him right after he went outside the living room.

I know he will tickle me again later when they are both okay. My older brother and I are always like that when we quarrel over small things, then his girlfriend, Mandy is the referee.

I don't know, even if my brother is so irritating. He's still fun to be with.
