Chapter 214 - Very Afraid

"Where..? This is starvation..." the self-mutilating man muttered from time to time, either asking Sillion to show himself or complaining about his hunger.

Sillion didn't make a move or sound however, he may be armed and fairly competent as a fighter but his instincts screamed for him to stay hidden, howling so loudly that his thought were focused on nothing but survival.

The butcher walked in the center of the lines of beds, walking slowly and making grunting sounds as he jerked his head around, trying to catch a glimpse of movement from his little rat.

He wasn't looking underneath the bed though, only walking around, growing more and more frustrated, getting increasingly erratic in his movements.

His speech was getting slurred and incoherent, if before his sentences were at least were sensical, they were now much closer to a rabid beast's growls than anything.

The room Sillion was in didn't have any exit, his way further from this man was to go through the door he had come in from, which should be simple, the butcher had completely wrecked it and hadn't bothered to block to way after getting in, it was like the door was inviting Sillion.

As dangerous as it seemed to go back into that straight hallway, Sillion believed that if he could avoid detection from the maniac, then he would be able to avoid any unnecessary confrontation or chase.

Sillion quickly reached for one of the bloody medical instruments laying on the floor near him and prepared to put his plan into action.

"Huh?!" even this faintest sound had somehow managed to attract the butcher's attention, Sillion hadn't even heard what he had done to warrant this but he didn't panic and stayed still.

The man looked in the general direction of where Sillion was but having no clue where exactly the noise had come from, he moved toward it, going right past where Sillion was hiding without noticing anything.

Taking the chance as the noble was certain the man had his back turned to him, he threw the tool in the opposite direction, immediately absorbing all of the maniac's focus, making him run there, bumping into everything in the way, seemingly convinced that his rat had made a mistake.

Has he inspected the area thoroughly, Sillion had already gotten out of his hiding spot and ran into the hallway, using the fact that the butcher had made a commotion to hurry up.

Sillion ran as quietly as possible once he got further into the hallway, believing that the man would notice what he had done but fortunately, he had been none the wiser.

The noble heir only slowed down once he reached another door on the other end of the hallway, this was the only other door in this whole place, clearly the architecture was nonsensical.

He carefully listened for what was on the other side and then silently opened the door, only to be sucked inside.

Before he could understand what had suddenly happened, Sillion found himself falling into the darkness, soon illuminated by the pale blue light of a moon.

'I'm dead! I am going to die!' he could only think of his imminent death when he would impact against the ground.

He saw some circular, greenish shapes forming in his vision before falling straight against the ground.

"What?" he was completely unharmed, despite feeling how he violently hit the ground, he was unhurt, nothing as much as a bruise on his body.

He soon stood up, completely flabbergasted by what had just happened, starting to believe he really was losing his mind.

A cold breeze brought his attention back to his environment, the circular shapes he had seen had been tall pine trees, he was in the middle of a forest, where the trees were all separated by at least ten meters each, making it fairly open.

He then looked up at the blue moon, realising that it was much bigger than any moon he had seen before, it was enormous, completely covering the sky where it was.

The noble couldn't even see it entirely as the bottom disappeared in the horizon.

It was no wonder why the illumination was so good even at night.

Sillion stood there for a few moments, calming down from the sudden mental shock he had just endured, he had been certain that his end was near.

After catching his breath, he looked around once more but seeing nothing of interest, he picked a direction and began walking.

Despite everything, Sillion felt no thirst or hunger at all but he was still worried about these, he needed get out of this forest as soon as possible.

Sillion couldn't understand the recent events, so instead of thinking about it, he treated this situation had if he was just lost in the woods, it was much easier and simpler to deal with than whatever he could come up to explain everything.

The noble was in luck, in the distance, uphill from where he was, there was cabin.

This meant that he was somewhat close to civilisation, he carefully approached the cabin, still fearful that something like the butcher from earlier could show up.

He made his way with as much caution as he could until the very moment he pushed the door of the cabin open.

Nothing happened and the place was completely empty, no sign of anyone leaving there anywhere, a cloud of dust had assaulted him the second he opened the door.

He waved his hand in front of his face to scatter the floating dust, soon noticing that every piece of furniture here wasn't in the right position, some were sideways, some upside down, some were hanging on the walls or ceiling for no apparent reason.

This was weird but Sillion still entered, shutting the door behind him, he searched the place and strangely, he found bolts that were just the right size for his concealed weapon.

Sillion then put the bed in the right position and barricaded the door and two windows of the small cabin, preparing to wait for daylight to come before starting to walk again.

However, he soon heard the sounds of someone walking around the cabin, snapping twigs and kicking leaves and rocks as they moved around.
