"No one touch anything in there, let us first take in the surroudings before any rash decisions" spoke the boar man, making sure no one was left inside of the lever room before closing it off.
The door to the room was already pretty interesting, it was the only thing made out of wood around here, it also had some regular steel components to make it work but so did the lever machinery.
The process used for the door and its parts was typical, slightly different from what was locally done but not completely off, the inhabitants had not used anything out of the ordinary for anything.
Still, as the expedition spread out around the room to inspect every inch of this spiderweb infested and dust filled room, Theli couldn't help but wonder about the lever, clearly, if something had any odds of being out of the norm, it was this.
Instead of waltzing in and pushing it, he simply took interested in the various skeletons layed all around in very lively positions.
To him, it looked like they had been frozen after instantly turning into skeletons, this place was completely sealed off after all and inspected their very amazon-like clothing, it was nothing uncommon but it had remained in good condition due to this place being completely locked in.
There was no way the bodies could have degraded perfectly but not the clothes at all.
Under the curious look of Rolanh, who knew what Theli was about to do, the mage kneeled down in front of the corpse that had had its lower half crushed and carefully placed his hand on its head.
The skeleton didn't budge or showed any sign of crumbling to pieces.
Rolanh would never get any good explanation to what he was doing exactly but he did know that Theli could check the last memories of bodies and places, the spear man assumed that it was what the mage had done back in the hallway.
Apparently, the mural destroyer must have had some interesting memories and so, he expected him to be able to fish out some interesting things.
After all, Rolanh wasn't stupid and could clearly see that this skeleton had been subject to sudden and brutal deaths, all seemed to be in positions indicating extreme fear, were trying to run away like this one or had been seemingly trying to fight back.
"Mmh" without much more Theli moved on to the next and then the next one without stop.
Once he was done inspecting the last moments of each of them, he just rubbed his chin with a slight smile.
He signed for Rolanh to get a slight bit closer as if he was a merchant from the black market hooking in a new customer.
"From what I saw, the attacker, most certainly the one with the crystal still embedded in its skull, was alone, they were the one that sealed off this place as they got in, damaged the murals for some reasons and started slaughtering everyine present by ripping out their own crystals from their foreheads..." he started explaining as he led Rolanh away from anyone else.
"Seems like the people didn't want the attacker to get or do something, that is conjecture since they were speaking I language I do not know of, anyways, I couldn't check the memories of the two skeletons inside of the lever room but I strongly believe the attacker is not quite dead yet" he revealed in hushed tone.
"Not quite dead? Does pushing the lever back into position bring them back to life?" said Rolanh.
"Perhaps, it looks like the lever is what caused the attacker to turn into a skeleton, from what I saw, the skeletonization is a result of being deprived of the crystal in their head, although I don't know why that is"
"Then, shouldn't we just remove the crystal from the one that still has it and then activate the lever?" spoke Rolanh as he looked at Theli, who was shaking is head from side to side.
"Come on Rolanh, that is no fun, how are we supposed to meet anyone from there if we finish of the last survivor?" he responded.
"Hum, I don't know about you but that last survivor is a brutal murderer that killed their own kind for some reason and I am fairly certain that if we wake them up, they'll just believe that no time has passed since then, if they are in a state of death that would probably be the case, kinda like when someone fall asleep, you know?" tried explaining the spearman to his unhinged mage to no avail.
"I certainly hope you aren't going to go touch that lever, ripping into people skulls with one's barehand is already pretty brutal but doing it to like... a hundred people that can all see what you are up to is a sure sign of strength"
"Very good observation Rolanh but don't worry, I will not touch that lever" the amount of emphasis he put on the 'I' immediately made Rolanh uncomfortable.
He looked over at the lever room and saw that the door was still shut but now he felt like he should have paid more attention to it before, since no one else was.
Instead of rushing to the scene as it was clear that Theli already knew that someone would be stupid enough to go poke at the lever, Rolanh and Theli took both some more distance as they backed off way into the hallway leading to the large room.
Everyone in the room felt a wave of something slightly passing through them for a second but didn't know what to think of it until the sound of wood shattering was heard and a bloodied head appeared from the door to the lever room.
Covered in splinters, the owners of that head seemed completely unresponsive until a nasty, feshy noise was heard as it fell down from the hole that had been made by ramming the man's body head first through the old door.
"Ouf, our dear attacker must have stepped on the back on the other side, like some sort of inversed guillotine!" remarked Theli casually.
"What the hell is a guillotine?" was all Rolanh had to say in response to this.
"Oh crap, I didn't submit the patent yet, act like you didn't hear anything" simply said Theli back as the door was kicked off its hinges, revealing the attacker in all of their glory.
