Milleral didn't relax in the slightest after he managed to chop the sin's head off, quite the opposite in fact.
He immediately noticed the fact that the man's life force didn't drop to dangerous level, it took a big hit but it was already going back up.
The serpentine hero looked at the head that was flying through the air, their eyes met.
The hero felt a push on his chest as Idolatry slammed his palm into him, a sudden buildup of energy occured, exploding and sending Milleral straight into a wall.
He cushioned the impact using his snake's in its natural form, his chestplate crumbled to pieces moments after, it had been short lived but it had served its purpose at least.
Idolatry just clapped his hands as centipedes emerged from his bloody neck, connected to one another, they went and fetched his head, it went in place perfectly and his life force shot back upward.
Noticing something, Milleral slightly grinned as he got back to his feet, transforming the snake back into a spear.
"The mighty one has granted you with a good enough armor to resist one of my blows, don't throw their generosity away and take step back, there is no shame in running away" spoke the lesser sin as he brought his two palms together.
"They must have given it to me so that I could understand how you attack, they might have grown tired of your shit" taunted Milleral as he got ready to move.
"Did you just imply that the one above all would thrown away a follower on a whim?" it sounded like a genuine question, one he was expecting a no to.
"Yes" simply responded the hero was he jumped to the side, jumping all around the small cave as the sin stayed immobile.
"Heresy!" he shouted as he finally released his powers for real, no longer hiding them.
His shout was powered enough to make the bugs stop what they were doing for a moment, paralysed by the sudden increase in pressure.
"You dare insult the greatest one?! You think they are just like the control god!? This calls for a punishment! I'll just send you to go explain yourself with them directly! Do not resist!" he spat, as he started moving, chopping the air with his right hand, causing a slash of a bizarre element to slash the place were the hero had been.
The sin's movements were deliberate and somewhat on the slower side, all of his attacks were first preceded by an wide movement that clearly indicated what he would do.
However, the sin wasn't aiming directly for the hero but where he would be and with every attack, he was getting a better idea of Milleral's speed.
Suddenly, the hero made a sharp turn and got right in Idolatry's face, throwing a great deal of attacks in close quarters, the sin was surprisingly able to hold his own, at least he could deflect and block.
A moment after the first attack had been launched and subsequently blocked, the sin only had one question in mind.
"Where is your spear hero? Are you trying to catch me by surprise?" he talked casually as he continued to deflect the punches thrown his way, he could hardly strike back, the hero moved in an expected but still problematic way.
His arms moved around as if they were actual snakes, much different from simple martial arts, the sin had no choice but to focus to avoid being hit.
Idolatry could use his powers granted to him by his god in a variety of ways, as if he was supplied pure holy energy that could be molded in many ways but he wouldn't be able to hold up if his guard was broken, a simple monk who devoted his life to his prayers could't hope the be stronger than a warrior.
Especially one whose very flesh was constantly being consumed.
For the moment, he could suppress the bugs enough to stop them from devouring anything that could put him at a sudden disadvantage but he still had to worry about the hero's weapon, he had seen it turn into a snake, it could be slithering on the ground and preparing the break his balance at any moment.
To break the stalemate, Idolatry suddenly pointed both of his palms at the ground, getting struck right in the face instantly but he managed to cause a blast at his feet, sending both of them in opposite directions.
Instead of being greeted by the stone wall of the cave, Idolatry found himself in a much damper environment.
That being the mouth of an enormous snake, the sin raised both of his ends, preparing to blast the roof of its maw in an instant as he took in his surroundings.
There was no doubt of where he was but something was definitely off, looking into the throat of the beast, what he saw was the stone wall.
'It's only the head? What does that mean-' he wondered about the implications of such a thing, the snake had divided? What could the hero be doing?
As he came to realise what could be achieved through this, his two hands suddenly separated from his body, interrupting his attack and forcing him to use his stumps to stop the snake head slamming down on him.
Looking where the hero had been sent back, Idolatry saw him holding a bow and arrows whose tip was shaped like a crescent moon.
The arrows quickly changed shapes however, turning into small snakes for a moment before shifting into basic arrows.
As Milleral prepared to shoot, he allowed himself to speak a bit.
"As I thought, you use your hands and movements to cast your little attacks, without your hands, you have no clue how to do it efficiently, do you?" he said as an arrow struck the sin in the eye.
"Also, I understand why you weren't there during the battle, what you are using, this is clearly supposed to be holy energy but it definitely is just an imitation, you wouldn't hold up against someone using the real deal" he added as an arrow pierced Idolatry's other eye.
"This is useless, the curse the god of control inflicted upon me makes me immortal, no matter how hard you try, I won't die!" the sin said, the bugs, which were part of the curse went to try and remove the arrows, he had to regenerate perfectly so that they could continue to devour everything.
"Are you sure? You might recover your life force rapidly and able to survive lethal wounds but it is clearly not returning to its maximum everytime.
Indeed, when the gods connection to the lower plane was brutally burnt off, the curses of the lesser sins were somewhat lessened, some saw no change but for others, it was like night and day, Idolatry bugs reduced in numbers and calmed down, unable to devour as rapidly as before, he was able to move again.
However, while it appeared to have remained, the immortality had also subsided.
More arrows pierced his body and then turned into small snakes, which bit into the sin and ripped off his body, separating it and throwing it away.
As shown at the start of the fight, regenerating things from scratch wasn't as easy and the bugs would rather just go fetch them and put them back on, for that, the snakes had to work together to inflict large enough damage that wouldn't heal easily.
Tossed into the jaw of the large snake head, the pieces fell on acidic terrain, it wasn't quite enough to hurt the sin himself but the bugs were much weaker and were unable to gather the pieces back, only the centipedes could and Milleral made sure to shoot their lines everytime they emerged, until they didn't appear again.
At first, it seemed like the bugs were constantly reappearing but the more flesh was removed from the sin, the less they reappeared, they fed on his flesh to reproduce, it would normally be an endless cycle.
Idolatry had nowhere to run and couldn't fight back.
