Chapter 141 - Insect Overlord

"I assure you, this will be worth it! The bug man must have racked a fortune from when his empire was at its height" spoke Greed as she rubbed his dry hands together with an utter lack of friction with a broad smile on her face.

"I don't care about the riches, I am only here because I was told the old Gluttony was still alive" responded Pride cracking her knuckles in anticipation.

"I doubt he is in any fighting conditions though, the system considered him dead enough to start te next generations of sins after all" remarked the corpse as she walked on ahead in the endless hallway underneath the desert.

They had entered a humongous pyramid at the center of the desert, it was in shambles and barely looked like a pyramid anymore, the tip had since long crumbled and it had seemingly sinked into the nearby sand on one side, tilting it and forcing the two sins to walk awkardly as the floor was now a corner.

"Bollocks! You saw the gigantic sand insects that manifested the closer we got, he is still willing to fight!" Pride tapped his fists together, her expression indistinguishable beneath the radiance that covered her whole body.

"He fused with the desert or something right? He probably doesn't even have a mind anymore and much less an actual body, you're gonna be disappointed Pridy" laughed Greed before suddenly stopping, a larger room was on ahead and she could sense some shinies.

She hurried over in a ridiculous manner due to the tilted hallway but made it fast nonetheless, the whole room seemed completely pacted with artefacts and highly expensive items of various metals, even if Greed was most a gold enjoyer, she still found silver and such to be quite nice as well.

Ignoring her fellow sin pushing down inhumane amounts of things down her throat, Pride walked up to the very center of the room, to a simple sandstone throne on which a empty husk of a humanoid insect resided.

She didn't know if it was because it was shrivelled up but she had certainly expected the former Gluttony to be a bit taller than than, he was just a bit taller than the average man right now.

While having all the traits of a dead body, Pride had one accompanying her as well, so she took a deeper look at the remains of one of the sins of yore.

Pride would have prefered if it had been the former Pride but she had to do with what she had, the only one that still 'lived' was Gluttony.

"I should ask that human that knows everything if I could find more..." she hummed as she noticed a small speck of life force still inside the husk, stuck to the very soul.

'Wouldn't have the soul merged with the desert if he had fused with it like I was told?' she thought for a few moments.

She wasn't exactly an expert of advanced usage of magic, mind powers or soul but she was fairly certain that the old Gluttony was just exerting his influence on the desert from where he was rather that being the desert.

"Damn, he looks sick, nothing to do with our shorty" spoke Greed as she walked up to Pride.

Pride looked around and noticed that everything had already been safely stashed away in Greed's stomach, she could be quite fast when it came to hoarding.

"He is still alive but doesn't seem willing to do anything" remarked Pride, poking one of his four arms to no success.

"If he was alive for so long, he is probably out of it by this point, he is in no shape to fight, let's just leave the old man alone-" Greed said before being cut off.

"I am going to punch him"

"Excuse me?"

"I said, that I was going to punch him" repeated Pride clearly while Greed just looked at her concerningly.

"Everybody knows that you are the strongest sin of this generation, no need to try and prove it by beating up a half dead insect man!"

"You should listen to Greed, it is a terribly bad idea" spoke a third person which didn't surprise the two sins as his sudden appearances were nothing new to them by this point.

"What do you mean Theli? Would he be able to defeat me if I did?" questioned Pride, ready to punch the defenseless insect at any moments.

"You are right, he isn't actually quite fused with the desert, his souls his holding on to his body, if you destroy his body, his soul will be free to do as he wanted and will disperse in the whole desert, sucessfully becoming his main body" explained Theli as he started circling around everyone present.

"If that happens, I don't say that he will be able to defeat you but it is certain that you won't be able to defeat him, it would end up in a draw because he would be just to unkillable, the desert will inherit everything from him and becoming the desert wil grant him even more as well, even Temperance wouldn't be able to end him in that state" he stated and Pride lowered her fist, the prospect of losing to an enemy that couldn't defeat her sounded quite harmful to her reputation.

Theli of course, kept to himself some other pieces of information, allowing the old Gluttony to truly fuse with the desert would also bring back his mind and being that he was the last of his generation to be considered 'alive' by the system standards, it would start something else.

Something he would prefer to throw at someone else's face.

"On another note, I do know of some other ways to challenge a former sin" he revealed with high smile.

"You have my attention" spoke Pride as she crossed her arms.

"Though, it won't be at one hundred percent, I know of a way to fight against the former Envy..." he started saying while continuing his endless circling.
