Chapter 117 - Time To Strike Back

"So it was a defeat..." muttered Mylhart first thing as he opened his heavy eyelids, he could still feel a sharp pain in his stomach area, something told him that he shouldn't eat too much for the consequences of the natural process of disgestion wouldn't be too kind to him.

He slowly and carefully moved his head from side to side, he was surrounded various circles and sigils, this was a room constantly oozing healing magic.

He didn't remember the one they had being so well done, Idil must have improved on it.

No one was in the room with him for now, his stomach was empty, hard to guess how long he had been out for, at least a few days.

Had anyone finished up the paperwork to get the assistance of Heilig? He certainly hoped so and since sins had attacked one of their champions, they pretty much had to do something now, he hadn't expected that to happen but it was to his advantage, worth having his guts and organs scrambled up.

His survival was only due to the fact that Idil could invoke pure holy powers, even a team of skilled healers wouldn't have been able to get him back after what had happened after all, internal damage of that magnitude was no easy job.

He took his time to think about his fight with that sin, whom he guessed to be Greed since she literally had coins for eyes, he couldn't think of a more textbook description of Greed than that, she had even fought using gold and coins.

Her physical body seemed as though as a cloud however, he had managed to cut through half of her neck without even feeling the slighest of resistances, she would probably pop with dust if she was was hit too hard, like one of those puffball mushrooms.

He hadn't paid much attention to it but he was fairly certain her 'hair' were just thin strands of gold too, nothing but dried up husk, he hadn't noticed a bone in her neck, you couldn't get much more fragile than that.

Despite that clear lack of constitution and natural defenses, she had still managed to beat him, by using the power of that jar it seemed but still and judging by how she chose to attack him, she had been more focused on getting away that killing him, otherwise she would have shot him in the head with that coin.

Then, there was the other one, an elf by the looks of it, he hadn't gotten a good look at what she could do at all, hard to make any guess as to her identity.

So instead, unable to move, he thought about something else, he compared today's Greed with the one he had read about.

The previous Greed had been ancient in more ways than one, he had been the first one to awaken as a sin in the last generation and he had been a divine being, one that had participated in the creation of this world even, compared to the one the general had fought, he had been on a whole other level by default.

Finding how and why he had turned out to become Greed was difficult but the consensus was that he took too much love into his power and once the time came for the architect of this world to vanish, he refused.

This one seemed more down to earth however, money, riches, this was something just about anyone could relate to.

Using the sins own personal sin against them was something the general had thought of already, he had already entertained the idea of accusing enemies of Laparadi with insulting Pride but it wasn't like the sins were stupid and he didn't even know what it was she was so proud about.

The fact that this generation's Greed wasn't quite as threatening as the last one was quite comforting even if nothing but a useless thought.

He brought back his memories concerning the others, the sins that had been part of the deadly sins.

Wrath had been an earthly devil, a species that was considered extinct nowadays, a destroyer and warrior, finding records on him wasn't difficult for he didn't hesitate to show himself and fight however wanted to try.

Envy had been quite an absurd being, a hecatoncheires, a species of giant with fifty heads and a hundred arms, only one thing was certain, he had been solely after other giants.

Sloth was pretty much a footnote, unheard of and only mentioned for his existence, he may have had bigger roles but they hadn't been revealed.

Lust had fittingly been an incubus, although a peculiar one, the kind of actions he was fond of weren't unknown, just avoided by scholars, no one had lasted very long trying to classify them.

Gluttony was the most well known for he was still around, residing in an enormous desert that was his territory, the lands he had conquered and had refused to give up on after his defeat, pretty much fusing with the whole desert and making it one of the most dangerous place to travel, he had been described as some sort of humanoid insect.

Lastly, Pride actually seemed quite decent, he is said to have retreated to hell for he had been a diablotin, the lowest of devils, so low that they could easily be convinced to work for the holy by anyone, how such a being was found to be the most eligible for the sin of pride was a mystery.

All that there was left to think about for the general of the interior was the paperwork that was surely piling up while he was bedridden, if only he could get someone to bring it to him...

Unknown to the general, he had been out for more than a week and within that relatively short period of time, things had been on the move.

The Heiligian champions were getting ready to take on the sins without the assistance of the virtues, whose job was supposed to be a foil to the sins, along side them, the party mostly comprised of heroes was also getting ready to act.

As for the troops of the Godfather, they just sat around, only the black knights would be taking part.
