Chapter 88 - Death

"You met Mansana didn't you? She's a very lively girl and she loves the sea, she's absoultely adorable when she rambles about it, you didn't get to see it but you can trust me, I am completely trustworthy" affirmed Theli, never stopping his sentence even as time rewound.

"Believe or not, she didn't have a single of her teeth when I first met her, I did a personalised denture for her and magic happened, if you see what I mean" he casually spoke as Grayson was mauled by golden flames, either Aiden had read things wrong or something else was at play here but the mastermind had kept doing what looked very much like direct attacks that weren't physical at all.

The scariest thing here was that he didn't appear to be attacking at all, he wasn't doing any movements or chanting anything, no visual cues were visible and nothing was to be sensed either, Grayson couldn't see anything coming and trying to predict what he would do next was nothing but a dream for he had yet to use the same exact move twice.

Even after more than a thousand death.

Grayson had gotten to experience various types of fire and the different type of pains they brought with them, he had not a single clue what most of them were even supposed to be.

It seemed like things weren't nearly as simple as Grayson had thought and he had believed them to be insanely complex, the numbers of combinations seemed endless after experiencing so many of them in such a short span of time.

He never would have expected to get frozen by some lightning ice or have his ear drums bursted by thunder ice or whatever it might be called, the mastermind kept spouting words that sounded vaguely latin or greek from time to times, when he wasn't talking about this love life.

"Ah, I am sure she wouldn't mind losing limbs and get some replacement, those are also part of the pirate get up she read in books, mostly children books mind you, not many people have ever explored the sea or even slightly travelled on it, it's either bedtime stories or less than glamorous tales..." he rambled as Grayson just spontaneously imploded.

"Talking about losing limbs... At home, I have one who just loves getting hurt by me and I don't mean slightly, I need to seriously try to murder her for her to have fun, good thing I am an expert at healing magic, she would have died more than you by this point otherwise" he pointed his finger at Grayson as he spoke walking back and forth as the otherworlder desperatly tried to find a way out of this situation.

Ithelisemou had already demonstrated to him that Grayson couldn't hope to hurt him so it was just about getting away from this situation.

He had hoped his ability would have at least brought him back before encountering the mastermind but it brought him back right in front of him, probably due to the mastermind too.

"I really enjoy talking like that, I can say whatever I want since you'll disappear anyways, even though it isn't much of a conversation, are you perhaps too busy trying to not die too much and can't give your own thoughts? Or are you not well versed in the mystic knowledge of women?"

"Not that I mean to insult you and your friends but amidst you three, you seem the like the one that would have at least gotten within arm's reach of a woman, at the very least" he said as the otherworlder rusted away as if he was made of metal.

"It is true that most otherworlders tend to be a bit oblivious to such things however, at least the ones who are forcefully summoned, did I tell you I was here when you were summoned?"

"Oui, you guys were all summoned in Aeraliun, you know? The old magus thought that you guys would make for a great distraction, I didn't check for myself but I would bet an arm that he had prophecy revealed to him or something of that sort..."

"Trying to force prophecies is never a good idea though, it is like attempting to control the flow of fate, you need to be really careful about it or fate allows you to mess with it, that happens too, in fact, anything can happen, you can be as logical and grounded in reality as you can but things can still be completely unexpected" Grayson was barely listening to the free lecture as some floating arms tore his limbs apart, leaving him to bleed out on the floor.

"But anyhow, you surely made a comparison with our system and some 'games' in your own world, I notice this every time I read the memories of an otherworld, which I didn't do as many times as my casualness may suggest" he changed subjects as quickly as he killed Grayson.

"The health points aren't exactly reliable, sure, more health mean more survivability but if I break your neck you would die whether you have a billion or one, are you listening? Cough a bit more and your heart will be puked out too, juuust like that, yes"

"Anyways, the system and status are still pretty great, the confusion with health point really only occurs for you otherworlders, we of this world learn that fairly consistently, though I also notice you people complaining about the fact that there are thirteen different stats in total and that you can't assign the points yourself..."

"You people should learn to be grateful!" he said as Grayson was melted by acid alive.

"You get to see it clear numbers at least, not everyone from this world can say the same thing, some only see vague shapes as their stats, I don't have that problem but the point is that not everyone is equal in the viewing of the system, on other regards, everyone is somewhat equal, when it comes to the system at least"

"There are some misconception though-"

"Will you shut up?! Not only are you killing me again and again but you are torturing my mind too?! I don't even know how many times I died now, how long as this been going on?" yelled out Grayson, his eyes wide open as he tried to remember the exact number.

"Should have paid attention to your death count, I was going to explain the species differences and the effects on stats and such but since you aren't interested in knowledge, let us burn through those numbers faster, remember you can chose to give up or be erased from existence!" reminded Ithelisemou before focusing a bit more on killing the otherworlder, wearing a soft grin on his face as he extended his arm forward.
