Chapter 60 - You Better Learn To Fly!

Overlooking the group going around and collecting information, a crafty being listened in, it was one step ahead for it already knew the locations of the places they wanted information on, it would be able to to get in the right place before them even if it tried each old camp first.

The miracle of flight was a potent one, flapping its resplendicent and colorful wings, the sketchy parrot went on ahead.

She may look down on humanoids and their 'superior intellect' and their 'superior tool usage' but they had always fed her good stuff, she wouldn't stand seeing her food distributors go down in numbers.

She flew through the warm winds of the new season, she remembered thinking a few years ago, when the first attack had occured that it wouldn't be much, the people down here would surely catch it and kill it in no time.

What a birdbrain she had been! The wretched, flightless hoot was just like herself, a smart animal!

In camparison to how warm it could get, today was fairly good, only three smalls suns had showed up, she would be able to search without worrying about turning into a dry corpse in a few hours.

The parrot landed nearby a few abandoned hunting camps, not noticing anything out of the ordinary.

Arriving at the very last one, she thought that either the foul bastard was away or that she had missed something but right as she was about to leave, her natural instinct, which were unperturbed by the food dustributors 'reason' or whatever it was that they called it.

Her instincts told her that something was to be seen and indeed, skimming the area around the abandoned camp in the cave, she noticed it.

The nasty fucker was hiding near the camp! Camouflaged underneath the ground, did it realise that people were going to come after it? How did it know? Did it sense what that weird looking female had done to detect it?

The flightless lot that was going after it would never even notice it, if she, a great parrot, had almost missed it completely!

She clacked her curved beak in thought, looking at the evil that was causing her to eat less.

'Very well then!' thought the parrot, stretching her wings and pumping her chest, flashing her brilliant colors at nothing.

She reeled her head back and prepared to execute the art of her kind, doing some kind of dance movements as if she was going to shoot a laser of pure energy and split the ground in half.

"FaCkkkK YOuuU!" she blurted out, an approximately pronouced but perfectly delivered piece of food distributor language.

'How do you like that? Ya piece of stenching turd?!' she thought with pride.

The beast rose up from the soil in an instant, leaping away as it stared right at the parrot.

The bird realised that it was quite a fair bit larger than it had seemed while buried in the dirt, the beast shaked off like a wet dog to get the dirt out of its long, dark fur.

The gaze of the beast hit the ckeeky parrot like a gust of strong, cold wind, almost pushing her off but that wasn't taking into account her advanced and order-defying zygodactyl feets!

'Opposable thumbs bitch! You'll never push me off this branch!' cackled the parrot by herself as the ground beast stared at her.

As it started walking toward the tree the parrot was on, she immediately stopped her cackling, feeling a menace closing in.

Jumping up, the beast latched onto the tree and started scaling it at wild speeds, putting even black bears to shame, it went up in a straight line, shattering through the branches no matter how sturdy they had been.

The parrot flew to another tree, making sure to only settle down once she was far enough, seeing how the dark beast was jumping from tree to tree with incredible ease, this time dragging the squirrel skills through the mud.

In a moment, the dark beast and the parrot were close, staring at one another, waiting for the other party to act first.

'Hmph! You think you got me bitch? I wasn't going to resort to it but you leave me no choice!'

"StREngthh!" she yelled out in her parrot voice, the branch upon which the dark beast had been standing broke, leaving it with no support for its paws.

'Ahahah! See that? This is strength, my influence reigns supreme, even on trees!' thought the parrot with hubris, barely noticing the dark beast stopping dead in its track toward the ground as it seemed to stand on the air itself.

Seeing the open maw of the beast approaching her face, the parrot bore no expression for it was a parrot and parrot could only stare at things with unfeeling eyes.

'Ah, is this how I die? Here I thought that my card of strength would allow me to control the situation' thought the parrot with her bird mind, she smelled the stench emanating from within the mouth of the beast as her head was completely in.

In a second, the jaw would close and rip her head off with ease and thn she would be digested and then shat out, such was the cycle of life, to become literal shit.

Instead of hearing the sound of her feeble, hollow bones being easily snapped, she heard something else and in an instant, the foul reek was gone as the beast was sent flying into the distance and crashing away with a yelp.

Instead, in front of the parrot, a food distributor or rather, a human female seemed to float through the air as everything was slowed down from her perspective.

That dark haired girl had just dropkicked the beast out of the way.

The parrot had no idea how she even arrived so high up in the first place but looking around, it seemed like the group that she had spied on earlier had already gotten here.

Some skinny male with messy hair raised an eyebrow after his eyes turned yellow for a moment, looking a bit in front of him, she saw that another human female with a very elaborate hairstyle was still in the position to help someone up, that was how the dropkick had been possible, the dark haired girl got launched!

While the parrot was all beaks agape, the dark beast quickly got back to its feet, seemingly uninjured, that fur certainly seemed capable of cushioning hits.

The dark haired girl landed on her feet, taking up a somewhat ridiculous but very menacing pose, as she said something.

"That thing is wearing armor underneath its fur" she pointed out.

The dark beast howled at sky, shaking the souls of everyone present as it released its full killing intent, its howl was answered by many others, some which weren't actual howls.

The parrot almost felt compelled to rush to its aid for a moment, it was calling for backup!
