Usually, the doctor would have already retreated back to his secluded home already but he had decided to do something after what had transpired a day ago.
To think that so many people would vanish after heading for a strange house that had been allegedly discovered recently was highly unusual around here, they had completed disappeared and the aforementioned house wasn't anywhere to be found.
No traces were left of them, as if they had never existed.
That was just a random thought however, they had existed for certain and the weeping girl in front of the roaming doctor was proof of it, Briam's little sister was left with no family, her adventurer brother supported the both of them and she was too young to do anything, so her fate seemed obvious.
Thankfully for her, it seemed like Theli was feeling kind today, not that anyone doubted that he was empathetic of others as he was a doctor willing to treat others for a small price but actually seeing him doing something so spontaneous outside of that was a rarity, in fact, the last time he had done something other than threating injuries and curing ailments was when he had first come back to the city, something people remembered but didn't mention as a good deed due to the brutal nature of it all, even for the low lives and bloodthirsty commoners around here, it had been a bit much.
This little exploit of his was what had made him the de facto most respected people here before he even took it upon himself to be a doctor for them.
The man with the mask in the shape of an owl approached the little girl, removing the mask would seem more appropriate to try and comfort a child but everyone knew him mostly by that mask, he bent his knees to get down at her level.
"Hey Mila" he said, the voice he used was the same he tended to use when wearing this mask, a reassuring one.
Mila looked up at him, recognising the doctor through a blur of tears.
"I heard for your brother, do not worry, I'll make sure to not have his efforts go to waste" spoke Ithelisemou from behind the emotionless and unfeeling mask of the owl.
"What do you mean?" managed to blurt out the girl in response.
"Your brother always made sure to keep you safe, will you allow me to take up on that task as well as I can? I may not be family but I am a doctor" he uttered, extending his gloved hand toward her, Mila looked at it for a few moments, a bit hesitant but ultimately accepting the hand of the man her brother held in high esteem and hand that had once saved her.
"Dans ce cas-là, let us go, do you like animals Mila?" he asked her as he led the way to his carriage.
The small girl was swung around as they drived over the bumpy terrain, her cheeks rippling at every bump, causing her to make the sound of a drowning fish almost constantly, Ithelisemou, being the professional that he is, managed to hold in his laugh like an absolute champion.
"In any case, welcome to Village Magnifice!" he said, spreading his arms in the air as they both stood in front of the house, where the village was nowhere in sight.
Noticing the confusion of her face, the doctor only told her that she would see soon, he called Malina over and instructed her with showing the kid around and to help her try and find something that interested her.
Ithelisemou could be nice but dealing with children wasn't part of his schedule today, he already had had to change his plans a bit due to Briam's untimely disappearance.
"Ah and by the way" he interpelled Mila before she left with the fake maid.
"My sister lives here, her room has her name written on it, don't enter it under any circumstances and if you see her elsewhere, do not approach her, she is extremely misogynistic, especially against girls she does not know and still very much if she knows you, she bites, scratchs and may cause existential dread, insanity and death, her name is Ekatonexi, she is very nice, so be nice to her" dispensing his confusing words before leaving like a specter.
The girl turned to the blonde maid and was only met with a confirming nod, she didn't even know what misogynistic meant.
Arriving to his room, the doctor removed his medical attire and switched back to his hobo look despite the very nice set of clothes he had in his closet, including the military uniform he had gotten from his short time in the army.
He moved throughout the house with impressive swiftness, went through an intrisicate and extremely well hidden hatch, upon its closure, it seemed like it was nothing but normal floor, nothing seemed to be giving away that a hatch was there.
After some time, he ended up in a large underground area, the appearances of the area went from crudely dug tunnels to being indistinguishable from a facility of great quality.
In between were all sort of places, some seemed to be above ground, other were more typical of an underground place, some were devoid of life or any movement but other brimmed with them, all types of creatures moved around the place, many of those shapes weren't of monsters per see but of another type of existence.
He moved through facilities of all kinds, forges, training grounds and even some that seemed completely out of place such as a place meant to test various execution methods.
He made his way past each of them, heading straight for one of those other existences, one that could be recognised by someone with some experience, a rare but known type of being, called unwanted presences by scholars, most commonly known as an otherworlder.
Arriving in front of him, Ithelisemou stopped, brought his hands together, brought them in front of his face and let out a long sigh, the ohterworlder showed no visible reaction but he was slightly shook, Ithelisemou wasn't actually angry but he was acting it out as the unwanted presence had done something bad, even if it had worked out, it wasn't an excuse to go out of line on a whim.
"Listen Jason, I know how you are, I know what you like, what you dislike, I know your very thoughts, your calm-minded thoughts that is, letting yourself be consumed by the action is only going to bring me issues in the long run and my problems are your problems, tu comprend?" spoke Theli as he circled around him.
"You are a good asset Jason, you are an important colleague of mine, we are both fellow researchers in a way, so I won't be harsh with you, you simply need to understand, not following orders is not preferable, for the both of us"
"You wouldn't want to make me sad, would you?" he said, his eyes still unmoving and his mouth in a neutral expression.
The otherworlder nodded his head.
"Parfait, now on to a good news, what's the number?" the otherworlder raised his head, seemingly joyful about this, he pronunced his first words since this exchange started.
"142" he said, his eyes slightly lighting upon saying this but only for a moment, soon his eyes went back to being almost invisible behind his wooden mask.
"Not bad, not bad at all, that is something to remember, even if you mess things up, you always need to look at the good, not only dwell on your mistakes, you need to balance both"
"That is good, however, you'll understand if I tell you that you will be remaining here for a while, yes?" uttered Ithelisemou, the masked man didn't argue and accepted it.
"Great then, oh, I almost forgot, you will soon have a fellow unwanted presence here, one appeared nearby not so long ago" he said before disappearing into one of the tunnels.
'Now that that's done, BPH-JP-2 ran into members of Heilig's elite unit, Jhorn, Polt and Farsite, they must have been here for the unwanted presence, since when has Heilig been taking even the slightest of risks? Intruding on foreign territory would severely affect the holy and diplomatic image they have given of themselves, are they preparing something?' Ithelisemou had several questions and now that he had asked them, he needed to get answers.
'Hopefully, it at least doesn't have to do with Gloire, them out of all people should see the potential of our new king and form an alliance, well, it depends on what their objective is.'
'That train of thought is the most probable option, if we exclude the gods their ruler get his powers from that is, if they are involved then I can throw out any mortal logic out of the window.'
'I'll have to work my thinking from the perspective of a god then, how exciting, I don't do that often' he thought as he started hammering a piece of hot iron, it was time for smithing but he could do both of those at once.
