Chapter 3 - Chapter 2

It's Christmas Eve, and Cissaley has decided maybe Angie was right, that she should leave Dallas just for a while, and that maybe she could start her life without having to avoid Morris and Zoe. Cissaley's decisions would also come with a cost. She'd been holding secrets from her mother. The cabin she was rebuilding wasn't only a project that she loved working on but was also a project that would be used in a photo shoot the next fall for Katherine's company, Cissaley architecture designed things as a hobby but she had a passion for art in any form. She wanted to wait before telling her mom, she had a great relationship with her mother Pamela but it was hard explaining why she planned to do anything because Pamela would never cut the strings and let her grow up so, she decided to wait before telling her about the cabin and the job in New York City.

Cissaley had managed to avoid her mother all day by staying in her room, only allowing herself time for food. Evening came, and she hadn't been out of her room, sitting at her desk when her mother knocked on the door, opened it, walking in. Cissaley took a deep breath, dreading the conversation.

Cissaley: Hey, is everything okay?

Pamela: I should be the one asking you if you're okay. (-Cissaley: I'm okay. What time does their flight land?) I think, four hours. Are you coming down for dinner?

Cissaley: I'm not hungry, I'll grab something later. (-Pamela: Honey you haven't been down all day, you have to keep yourself busy I understand that, but you also have to take care of yourself.) Mother, I'm okay it's not about them, I have decisions to make and job offers to choose from, and if I get hungry I promise I'll eat something.

Pamela: How many job offers? (-Cissaley: Three including Dad's offer.) Cissaley, I know you're an adult but I don't know what I would do if you decide to move to Hong Kong. (tearing up)

Cissaley: You don't have to worry about that. Mom, it doesn't matter where I live or work. You'll always be my favorite mother. (they laughed)

Pamela:Okay, I'll have Helga bring something up for you. (-Cissaley: Okay..) I talked to Ava and Logan, and they won't make it to Dallas for Christmas. Logan has a few business deals that took longer than he expected.

Cissaley: Oh... Collin's not coming either?

Pamela: No...

(walking to the door looking back at Cissaley taking a deep breath)

Pamela: Cissaley? (-Cissaley: Yes, mother) Maybe you should decline the other offers and move back here, take the apartment in the city it would be so good having you back home.

Cissaley: I don't think you're worried about me taking any of the jobs. You need me to help convince Kali and Jenna to start a family, don't you miss working 16-hour days? I know daddy would love to have you back.

Pamela: Yes, I miss working, but the girls, Mylan and Tion have everything under control, Plus Shelby and Clayton not to mention hundreds of employees, I guess my charities will have to be enough.

Cissaley: Mom? (-Pamela: Yes, honey ?)

Thanks again for being such an amazing mother. Maybe we can talk after dinner, it's kind of important. (-Pamela:Okay,) Okay. Have you finished all your shopping?

Pamela: Yes, my assistant did an amazing job, I wanted you to meet him.

Cissaley: Mother, please tell me you haven't tried sitting me up on a blind date with your assistant?

Pamela: No! (laughing) But it does sound like it would be fun. (-Cissaley: God, that would make this the most satisfying defeat to my sad life.)

Pamela: It's really good seeing you smile.

Cissaley: I should maybe get back to work. What time does everyone leave?

Pamela: After everything is set up, did you need something else from the housekeepers before they leave? (-Cissaley: I just wanted to give them a small token for taking such great care of you and dad.)

Pamela: I will let Marylynn know, and she can let them know. I should check on your father.

Cissaley wanted to tell her, but she knew no matter when or how she told her mom, she would be upset. As the evening went on, Kali, Jenna, Tion, and Mylan made it home. Kali, the oldest, was the backbone of the family she kept everyone in their place. Jenna, a workaholic, was not happy when she found out Cissaley was in a relationship with Morris, and she always made it known she knew that Morris and Zoe were only using her name and her kindness to further their agenda but she also knew Cissaley would never stop caring for them because neither of them deserved her as a friend or girlfriend. Kali knocked on the bedroom door, opened it, and walked in

Kali: Hey,(hugging tight) I am so sorry they hurt you. Are you okay? (-Cissaley: I'm okay. I guess I should have believed Leeza, I knew something was happening, but I don't know what Bill thought would happen. There was never a moment that I've thought about working for him.)

Kali: Mother seemed calm when she opened the door, so she's ok with you moving to New York City? (-Cissaley: No! I just decided 5 hours ago to take the job, and she's going to freak out. I couldn't even tell her Kathrine would be renting the cabin for the fall magazine shoot.) Cissaley, you have to tell her she's not going to take it well, but she will be alright with it. When do you leave?

Cissaley: The day after Christmas. She's going to hate me. So how was Aspen?

Kali:It was nice. Everyone had a great time

no broken bones this time. I am going to unpack are you coming downstairs?

Cissaley: If I finish in time, I may. I'm not sure, I have a few calls to make.

Kali: Ok, so I'll come back to check on you when I finish, just know you can come by yourself or I can get Jenna to come back at you.

Cissaley: No. Ok, I will l come down when I'm finished.

They did everything they deemed possible to distract her thoughts, but nothing could take away the disappointment that she just lost her fiancee and her best friend. She wanted to tell her mother about the cabin and the job but she knew it would break her heart. Robert was in the kitchen along with Tion, and Milan when the girls walked, and the discussion began.

Tion: Are you ready for the New York experience? (Milan: T, it's not like she's never been there.) Moving is nothing like a vacation or a holiday visit, but if you want I can set you up on a blind date with my old friend Marty Conrad. Just say the word.

(they all laughed)

Jenna: Was he the guy that always cried when he lost at every game we played as kids?

Kali: He was such a crybaby. (laughing)

Cissaley: I'm good, but if I ever feel lonely I will never tell you. Thanks, T, I thought I was your favorite sister. (-Tion: I said you're the smartest. I'm kidding.) (laughing)

Jenna: So, you're leaving for a year. How is mother, not upset she planning babies for you Kali? (-Cissaley: Haven't had the nerve to bring it up. (-Robert: Honey, we're going to get through this together.) It wouldn't matter if I told her two years ago, she will be upset.

Milan: We'll keep her busy, maybe she will come back to work for a while. I don't think you have to worry about being lonely Micahi will keep you busy.

Tion: You won't be able to be lonely, he'll be there for you. He sent pictures of the house you'll be living in and it's beautiful. I'm kind of jealous that mom never bought me one.

Kali: Honey, it's company property. I know you're going to love it. But if you decide to move there permanently then Kathrine will give you the house and the car.

Cissaley: I don't think I have what it takes to become a New Yorker. (-Cissaley: I don't think it's a place I want to live.)

They laughed and carried on Pamela walked in and suddenly everyone stopped talking. Cissaley cleared her throat sliding her hair behind her ear.

Pamela: Did I interrupt the conversation?

Robert: No, we were just talking about how excited we are about Christmas. (kissing her cheek) (-Jenna: Can you wait for us to leave the room before you do that?)

Pamela: Were we talking about grandchildren?

Jenna: Oh my God, mother it's Christmas Eve why would we talk about babies?

Kali: Mommie, no one ever talks about babies in this house, just you. Cissaley, come help us bring down the gifts and mother don't even think about asking or looking at the gifts, no touching or shaking any of them. You never let it be a surprise.

Pamela: Ok, I won't touch them. Boys, did you enjoy skiing?

Tion: Yes. Cissaley, how much longer will it be before you finish the grand cabin project?

Cissaley: Well, depending on the weather maybe by fall. (-Pamela: Are you in a hurry to finish?) No, no rush. Guys, I'm going to make a few calls and get some sleep. I'll see you bright and early. Happy Christmas Eve.

Goodnight.

She went up to her room, and called Micahi they talked for hours, and after talking to Micahi she called her sisters and family friends.

And now we begin the life and love of Cissaley Langston...
