Perhaps there really was a mutual appreciation between the two parties as the dwarves now claimed, but Kael knew well that the dwarves of today were not the same people as those of the past.

Just as Kael was deep in thought, the sound of Elanna's voice broke his train of thought.
He came back to his senses and looked at Elanna, apologetically saying, "Sorry, I was just pondering some problems."
"Is it because of the half-lives?"
"It's related to them, but that's not all, though this isn't the time to bring up this issue. If you want to know, I'll explain it to you slowly after we return."
Elanna nodded, it wasn't that she wanted to know, she just wanted to spend more time chatting with Kael.
