_
The Crow always watched
After a beauty so unmatched
It was watching since the day an egg hatched
Revealing a little treasure that could never be outmatched.
_
But the little treasure was too small
As though it could break from a single fall
It feared the danger that may come upon it
So it built layers of walls to protect it.
_
The Crow felt that within the walls is too dark
So it went to find pearls that glow with light
It wants the treasure to have a pleasant ark
And never know the terror and cold of the night.
_
The little treasure grew slowly
As the Crow watched patiently
It grew brave, bold, and strong
Dancing happily, tweeting songs.
_
The Crow flew with a plan contently.
When the little treasure grows up splendidly
It planned to break the walls excitedly
And live with the treasure forever happily.
_
But as it worked to break the walls down,
The little treasure suddenly disappeared
In worry, the Crow flew around in fear
It looked and searched even as the sun fell down.
_
When the sun rose, the Crow discovered
Beautiful feathers scattered on the ground
With fear and grief it looked around
And followed a trail of fallen feathers.
_
The Crow never stopped searching
Its grief, each day, was growing
Each feather found was more wretched than the others
The most wretched perhaps was the last of the feathers.
_
The little treasure was found at dawn,
As if happy but thoroughly worn down
It's beauty remained even with the sun down
Ethereal, with the rising sun as it's crown.
_
The Crow lowered its beak down its treasure
Cherishing the encounter it had been longing for.
_
'I only wished to cherish you as I see fit,
But verily, I have made a grave mistake.'
