Later that night Lisa could not sleep. She still could not believe what had happened at work today. She had lost her job. As she cleared her desk this afternoon the only thing on her mind was the cold bitter thought of not being able to provide for her family. Her co-worker, Mike had tried to interrogate her on what had happened. She couldn't even bring herself to speak to him. Looking back she probably should have said something to him, anything would have sufficed. But she she was disoriented at that moment. It was all just a big misunderstanding . Mr Anthony had mistaken her for the manager, and talked down at Sophia, which in her defence was all because He did not give her any chance to explain herself properly. Sophia must have thought she took advantage of her absence and lied to the CEO about who she really was.
She knew she didn't always see eye to eye with her boss but she felt she at least deserved a chance explain explain herself properly. She had worked really hard for that firm. What a sad way to repay her.
The only person who could actually clear the air was Anthony, but she knew she did not have access to him. Then she remembered that he asked her out on a coffee date to discuss the details about his company. Just for a brief moment she allowed herself to get excited. But then the realization hit her, he'll probably find out she wasn't really the manager when he tried to call her for the appointment. She sunk deeper into despair at the thought. She groaned loudly and slammed her hands on her mattress in frustration . She would probably never see him again. He had better things to do than worry that his actions got a nameless receptionist fired. He could not care less.
As she lay on her bed lost in thoughts she heard a knock on her room door
" Who is it?" she asked.
"It's me Julius" He answered
She panicked she hadn't told any of her brothers she had lost her job
She couldn't bring herself to say it
It would mean that it was actually true and not just a bad dream. She was spiraling.
She stood up to unlock the door. Julius came into the room.
"Hey" he said
"I couldn't sleep,then I heard a thud from your room so I came to check it out"
She was embarrassed, he must have heard when she slammed her bed.
"oh it was nothing" she lied, it was definitely something.
"I couldn't sleep either, I had a rough day" she said while scratching her head
"really? What happened?"
She wanted to evade the question and say it was nothing again but she could not, she just couldn't find the right words in time.
Instead she started sobbing, hot Tears trickled down from her eyes.
Julius was shocked
"It's okay " he said as he held her hands
"Tell me what happened"
The tears were coming faster now, everything seemed to be crashing down on her head at the moment.
"I lost my job today" she struggled to say amidst all the tears
Her job was the main stay of the family, Julius tried to help out in any way he could but most of the income he could muster went into his college funds so he could not really do so much. Without her job it was going to be rough. Julius held her in his arms, for a while he didn't say anything he just held her tightly while she wept. She appreciated the silence. She let it all out. All the pain and regret she had been Bottling up for so long because she was trying to be strong, she let it all out. It was like the dam she had spent years building was finally broken, she just wept.
"Don't worry we'll be fine " Julius said After a few minutes, when she had finally calmed down.
"We can go searching for a new job tomorrow, I'm sure you'll find something better out there"
She sniffed then wiped here tears
"Alright " she said
"Can I sleep here tonight? Bolin's snores are probably what's keeping me up this late"
She smiled faintly, she knew he only wanted to stay to keep an eye on her to make sure she was okay
" Sure" she said
"Thank you" she said a little while after they both lay on the bed
There was no response
He had already fallen asleep. She smiled
"We will be fine" she said to herself then she fell asleep.
