Chapter 8 - Simba at the Rescue

"Good morning Nne." Precious finally greeted her, she stretched like some viper, Mark also joined in the greeting and Nne responded and they all went out to see the boys outside.

She staggered as she walked, stumbling again obstacles, she never wanted to see anyone, but she just had to, she thought that it was Simba because it was a full moon the past night and as usual, he spent it alone, and he sometimes comes the next morning looking rough, so, she guessed it will be him again, little did she know that it was the same boys who led her to see the indefinable. It was already sunny outside, the morning sun had already risen, and he still sat on the heart of the Eastern part of the sky, but he won't be there for long.

She felt this slight sharp twinge in her eyes, the sun was so bright, and judging from the fact that she had not been outside since morning, the sun chides her and she used her hand to form a shade against her eyes and made a puckered face like someone who perceived a putrid whiff, but as soon as the boys saw Precious they went on their knees crying and pleading for mercy. They look so rough, dirty, and all ripped, their skin was turned in different places. They looked like thieves who had been mobbed by angered village street youths

"They are the ones, they were the ones who chased me into the haunted stream, they are evil, they are the ones" she cried hiding behind her brother, though she didn't recognize their faces, somehow, she knew they were the ones who chased her the night past. She looked even more frightened, she was afraid of the boys who seem to be extremely terrified at the sight of her. The merman of the little stream had commanded them to go and seek her pardon after taunting them the entire night, they were already weak and worn out. Hearing her sister confirm the boys to be the reason why she was how she was the night before, Mark got riled as he picked up the wood that had been burnt halfway, he took it and raised it to strike one of the boys who lay on the ground with his hands open in a surrendering manner, luckily, Nne was there for his rescuee, she quickly ran and held the hand of her grandson before he commits a misstep.

"Markswell! What is your problem? Can you not see that these young men are already dying? Do you want to kill them in my house? Are you normal? Do you want to stain your hands with their blood? What is it that they did? Tell me, I said what did they do that warranted you to pick up arms against them?" Nne asked.

"They are the one... They are the ones who... Who... Who made my sister to..."

"Yes? What did they do to her, talk to me?" Nne quickly interrupted him since he knew not what to say.

"Presh dear, what did they even do to you?" Chuks asked his sister after his grandma bombarded him with confusing questions.

"Oh, you do not even know their offence, and you want to kill them, so if someone comes here now and asks you why you want to hit this young man with this heavy wood you will embarrass yourself like this. Tell me, is this how you plan to embarrass yourself?" Nne inquired and he just stood there looking even more sheepish, Jasmine knew not what to tell them because she knew that they will never believe her, so, she chose to keep the details to herself until she meets with her best friend Lionheart who never doubted a thing she had said before.

Later that day, Lionheart and Love visited Precious, they came in the heat of the sun, the weather was so hot and bright, the grasses on the roadside had shrieked due to the heavy scorching heat which had overwhelmed the ground, causing the roots of plants to stand on one foot. Normally, there were goats which almost causes traffic along the road, but they seem to be nowhere to be found this day, they also were not as dumb as to wait only to get toasted by the hot rays of the sun. It was inside this hot sun that could cause the hairs on one back to stand up and tangle that Lionheart and Love jumped to see their friend, Mark had called Simba telling him about the things that happened to her sister the night past, at least he said that which he knew, though all he knew was as little as nothing. He knew that she can only open up to him, so he asked him to come and see his friend before she dies in silence. In return, Lionheart called Lovel and told her everything, he was actually not happy that Love did not escort her across the stream when she knew that Jasmine had a phobia for the stream.

"How could you tell me that you left her and went home all because you were angry? Common Love, you shouldn't have left her to cross a stream that you know that normally she won't cross during the day, not to say that late at night." Lion said. Before he said this, she had told him how it all happened but he failed to understand why she did what she did, even though he liked the fact that she took her out of the strange man.

"Common Lion, Precious is not only your friend, but she also is mine too, and there is no way that I can let her cross the steam alone, it is just that I was not happy, after what I did, she kept provoking me, it was either we went home or we go back to that place, of cause her own pick was that we go back, and I was so not going there, so I left her and went home to my Dad" so Love said to him different before Lionheart insist that they go to see her under the vindictive sun.

Precious was even surprised to see them by that time, she wondered how they could tour through such a hot sun without an umbrella.

"Hahaha, we are not Oyibo like you, we are real Africans, so, the sun can't actually harm us." So said Love, after Precious suggested that they should have used an umbrella. Well, who was she to talk about others walking out of the sun? These two folks walked through the sun to see how their friend was fairing, but her own brother was out with no real target, just in search of a new girl that he could deceive and cast out again like trash.
