Chapter 16 - Sick

Jiang Ju originally didn't want to interfere, but when he thought about how that person had been so busy these past few days that he couldn't even eat, she could only find a clothes rack, then frown as she placed his underwear and clothes into the washing machine. After adding the detergent, she pressed the wash button and let it spin on its own. That person could take the clothes out to dry when he returned.

She stood in the living room as she looked at the spotless room that she had cleaned. She was very satisfied. A wise person had once said that the tidiness of the house would affect one's mood. Looking at the clean room put her in a good mood.

After returning to her home, she started cleaning again. Although the room wasn't big, it was quite troublesome to clean. It took a full two hours to clean it up completely. After cleaning for half a day, her body was sore, and she didn't have much of an appetite. She took a shower and returned to her room to sleep.

She slept until the afternoon. When she woke up again, it was already night outside. Light shone in through the window, and only then did the originally dark room light up a little. Jiang Ju felt dizzy and her nose was blocked by something, so it was difficult for her to breathe. After sleeping, not only did the soreness in her body not lessen, but it even became worse.

The cup of warm water that she had poured before she slept had become a little cold after being blown by the air conditioner for so long. Jiang Ju felt better after drinking it, but her head hurt even more and she felt weak all over. Although she knew that she might be sick, she didn't have the strength to get up.

After trying to get up for a minute, she still fell into the blanket and continued to sleep. In her delirious state, she felt a pair of warm hands gently touching her forehead. Before she could feel anything else, the hand pulled away.

She struggled to open her eyes, but she could only see a blurry figure. Her throat was so swollen that she couldn't speak. She groaned in discomfort. She, who was sick, looked even more childish than usual. Her dark eyes were misty, and she moaned pitifully.

After Du Xi left, he returned in less than five minutes. When he returned, he had a cup of warm water and a box of cold medicine. He placed the water and medicine at the head of the bed and gently patted Jiang Ju's burning hand.

Jiang Ju's eyelids were heavy. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't open her eyes. She could only listen to his guidance and open her mouth to take the medicine. In the end, she spat it out because the pill was too big. After the sugar coat on the pill was drenched by the hot water, the bitter part inside was revealed. She shook her head with her eyes closed. No matter how Du Xi coaxed her, she refused to open her mouth again.

Du Xi coaxed her patiently for a few minutes, but she still refused to take the medicine. In the end, he ran out of patience. He forcefully opened Jiang Ju's mouth with his hand and stuffed the medicine in. Afraid that she would spit out the medicine again, he pressed the spoon against her tongue and fed her the medicine in the simplest yet roughest way.

Even though her consciousness was blurred, Jiang Ju could still taste the bitterness in her mouth. She sobbed softly, and tears flowed down her eyelashes. She already had a pitiful appearance, so now that her face was flushed from the fever, and tears were hanging from her thick eyelashes, she looked extremely pitiful.

Du Xi couldn't bear to watch, but he didn't regret what he had just done. After all, there was no other way. After the medicine took effect, Jiang Ju's cries gradually weakened and she slowly fell asleep again. When she opened her eyes again, it was already the latter half of the night.

There was only one bedside lamp in the room, and the temperature of the air conditioner had been raised by a few degrees. After she woke up, she didn't feel that cold anymore. Du Xi was still sitting beside him. He had his head lowered as he fiddled with his phone. His eyebrows were furrowed, as if he was a little irritated. Afraid that he would be frightened if she suddenly spoke, Jiang Ju didn't speak. Instead, she waited for him to put away his phone before coughing lightly.

"You're awake? Do you feel better?" Du Xi looked up when he heard the voice. Seeing that she was awake, he walked to the side and turned on the light. Jiang Ju nodded and said, "I'm much better." Although she still felt a little uncomfortable, she was much better than before she went to bed.

She was still a little dispirited. Du Xi was still worried, so he took the thermometer and stuffed it under her armpit. Jiang Ju obediently clamped it and waited for him to sit down before asking, "What's wrong with me?" Du Xi frowned as he said, "You have a 38.5 degrees fever." He didn't look happy.
