Chapter 164 - A Torturous Day (Arc 4)

When Feng Yongrui arrived and stood in front of Dobbin, the latter stared at him for two seconds before he burst into laughter. Feng Yongrui's face was really ugly and he had an urge to punch Dobbin's smug face.

It was too bad, his arms almost had no strength left. Don't talk about a punch... he probably couldn't even wave his arms right now.

During breakfast time, Dobbin thought that Lucky had run away, and he didn't bother to ask anyone else about it. But when it was time for Lucky's first training, he secretly sneaked over to Carl's place.

He wanted to tell Carl not to waste his time waiting for Lucky. After all, the kid had run away. But when he arrived, Dobbin was pleasantly surprised to find that Lucky was already there, greeting Carl and introducing himself.

After asking around for a while, Dobbin finally understood what had happened. Lucky had woken up an hour ahead of schedule and stayed in the kitchen, helping Emma prepare breakfast.

Dobbin was quite impressed, but he did not want to think too much about it. So what if Lucky was diligent on the first day? That was nothing. The point was, could he remain diligent every day?

Feng Yongrui had no idea that Dobbin was thinking about him. All he knew was that -- his training was tiring! The worst part of it wasn't the training. It was the system inside his head that bothered him the most.

Back on Earth, Feng Yongrui was an adult. But now, he was in the body of a scrawny child -- a child who had probably spent his entire life eating leftovers and stealing food.

This body's strength wasn't very good, so when he had to go through all that training, Feng Yongrui really, really, wanted to complain. He didn't want to do much, really. It's not like he was going to cry and kick up a fuss.

He just wanted to sigh in tiredness and mutter under his breath about how tiring his training was.

But! The system inside his head did not allow him to voice a single word of complaint! It didn't even allow him to sigh or huff in anger!

Whenever the system sensed a complaint coming up, Feng Yongrui would feel a strange force sealing his mouth shut and making sure he made absolutely no sound at all.

If he tried to forcefully open his mouth and talk, a short, numbing pain would appear in his body, washing over him like a tide. It was painful and annoying -- Feng Yongrui's body was already tired as it is, but when added with the system's punishment, it became even worse.

After trying to grumble several times and failing, Feng Yongrui gave up and no longer tried to complain or grumble. He could only voice his complaints inside his head, lamenting his fate and grumbling about the suppression of free speech.

The three hours spent with Dobbin was torturous, and Feng Yongrui was already feeling weary inside his heart. Dobbin's teaching methods were okay, and when he taught Feng Yongrui how to handle various weapons, he was very serious.

If it was any other time, Feng Yongrui would've been elated to learn something like this. The problem was that he was really tired from this morning's training, and added with the fact that the System woke him up not-so-nicely this morning, Feng Yongrui found it rather hard to concentrate.

When lunchtime arrived, Feng Yongrui wanted to cry. Finally! Some break time! He rushed to the kitchen and found Emma pouring soup into some bowls.

"Oh, you're here, dearie," she chuckled.

"Have you been training?" she asked, noticing his red face and tired eyes.

Feng Yongrui nodded sadly. That's right, he had been training under the merciless hands of Carl and Dobbin!

Emma clicked her tongue and bustled around the kitchen.

"Well, since you've chosen this path, you can't back away now," she said lightheartedly, "You'll have to train seriously and strive for perfection~"

Feng Yongrui: "..."

Don't talk about perfection, right now he couldn't even feel his arms.

Feng Yongrui was supposed to eat in the cafeteria with the others, but he was feeling too lazy to move. Since he was in the kitchen, why did he have to move again? He decided to just eat there.

Anyway, he had a pretty good impression of Emma -- she was like a friendly aunt who was not only good at cooking but was good at talking as well. So Feng Yongrui remained seated on the stool and ate his lunch listening to Emma's chattering.

After lunch time, Feng Yongrui had training with an instructor named Belladonna. This woman was like a shadow, weaving in and out of the darkness easily and flawlessly concealing her location as if it was nothing.

Feng Yongrui even began to think that she actually had a system that helped conceal her whereabouts. Otherwise, how could she be so good at moving stealthily? This time, the training wasn't as harsh as the one with Carl, so Feng Yongrui was able to concentrate and enjoy the lesson more.

After this training, Feng Yongrui moved on to his next class, which was about reading and writing. Since 'Lucky' was originally a street rat, this body did not know how to read or write.

For Feng Yongrui, since he wasn't originally from this world, he wasn't able to read or write the language in this world either. Fortunately, Feng Yongrui was actually an adult, so when the teacher, Mr. Nicholas, taught him the alphabet and told him to memorize several words, Feng Yongrui was able to learn it quickly.

The last class of the day, which was about the business world, was also taught by Mr. Nicholas. Feng Yongrui wasn't actually a child, and when he was in the second world, he had accompanied his brother for some time, so he wasn't completely clueless about the business world.

Of course, this didn't mean Feng Yongrui was a professional either. This world wasn't like the ones on Earth, so there were many things regarding business transactions that Feng Yongrui didn't know.

When his lessons were finally over, Feng Yongrui had his dinner, took a bath, and laid on his bed, thoroughly exhausted. Feng Yongrui looked at the ceiling and massaged his arms, worried that they would fall off.

Today was akin to a nightmare. Even when he went to school as a kid, he didn't have such a packed schedule... The worst part of this was... everything that he learned today had to be learned properly, and he couldn't use the system as a "cheat".

For example, Feng Yongrui knew that you could upgrade your own strength simply by using your points (you didn't have to exercise for real). But now, he couldn't access the System Mall and he was separated from the System.

He had no choice but to exercise for real and train properly.

Feng Yongrui looked blankly at the ceiling and called the System, but, just like before, no one replied. Unexpectedly, he felt a little lost and looked around the room. Usually, during times like this, he and the System would be chatting about the day...

Now, the silence was a bit overwhelming.

Feng Yongrui wanted to think some more, but he gradually felt sleepy. Today had been exhausting, so he couldn't help feeling more tired than usual. Within a few minutes, Feng Yongrui had fallen asleep.

The next morning, Feng Yongrui was once again jolted awake by the fierce system and walked out of bed grudgingly. Again, the System had woken him up at 03.00.

The rest of the day was spent like the day before. Feng Yongrui's schedule was packed with training, training, training, and studying. When he went to bed that night, Feng Yongrui collapsed on the bed, exhausted.

After two weeks, Feng Yongrui had gradually adapted with the schedule. He was also used to the system waking him up one hour earlier than usual. In fact, Feng Yongrui's body had adapted so well that now, he could wake up at 03.00 without the system jolting him awake.

Feng Yongrui had also adjusted to his packed schedule. Thanks to the training with Mr. Carl, his strength had greatly improved. When he went to bed at night, Feng Yongrui's muscles were no longer aching as badly as before.

Feng Yongrui had gotten to know his instructors as well. He found out that Mr. Carl was actually a father of two. He used to be a mercenary, but after sustaining a leg injury several years ago, he retired and became an instructor instead.

Belladonna, Feng Yongrui's stealth and spying instructor, was a sweet woman on the outside, but when he got to know her better, Feng Yongrui realized that she was really dangerous.

Apparently, when her last boyfriend cheated on her, she dumped his head into a barrel of wine, stripped him, and dumped him in the middle of the town square -- that guy became the winner of this year's laughingstock.

Of course, she did all of that without showing herself. She was a spy, after all.

As for Mr. Nicholas, he used to be a noble's son. He had been trained to become the noble's successor, but then it was exposed that he was actually the noble's illegitimate son, and the real son came back to the house.

Because of that, Mr. Nicholas was kicked out of his house and thrown into the streets. This and that happened, and he joined the Enigma Guild. Since he had been trained to become the successor of a noble's family, he was very knowledgeable. This was how he became a teacher in the guild.
