Chapter 130 - Happy Hour (Arc 3)

Feng Yongrui put on his Invisibility Spell and made an Illusion Spell to make it seem like he was sleeping in his room. He stealthily got out of his room and flew out of the building.

He wanted to see Xu Chao!

Feng Yongrui was able to find Xu Chao's room rather easily. Since this was his second time in this room, Feng Yongrui didn't feel too scared. Xu Chao was lying on his bed, fast asleep.

As for He Yi, he was nowhere to be seen. Feng Yongrui waited for some time, but nothing unusual happened. Instead, he began to feel awkward because he seemed like a bad guy watching Xu Chao sleep like this...

Feng Yongrui stood up and decided to leave the room when he suddenly heard a notification.

"Ding~ Happy hour starts from 23.00 - 01.00~~ During the Happy hour, all items in the System Mall will get a 3% discount~~"

Feng Yongrui didn't know whether to be happy or sad. Well, there was a happy hour... but... only a 3% discount? Seriously?

"Host, if you're dissatisfied with the 3% discount, you can just pay the full price~~" the System said.

Feng Yongrui: "..."

"You should be glad I decided to give you a discount in the first place," the System scoffed.

"...What were you planning to do in the beginning?" Feng Yongrui asked.

"I-I just wanted to call it happy hour..." the System trailed off.

"Happy hour? And then? Nothing else? No bonus points or something?" Feng Yongrui asked in disbelief.

"N-no... Nothing else..." the System answered rather sheepishly.

Feng Yongrui's jaw almost dropped to the ground. If the System wasn't going to give him any benefits, why would it say something like a "Happy hour". Wasn't something like that supposed to mean you would get benefits for doing something during a certain amount of time??

If you didn't get benefits, could you still call that Happy Hour??

Feng Yongrui massaged his head. There was no use talking like this to the System. It was incorrigible!

Actually, the System was right. The fact that the System gave a discount was a miracle in the first place.

"Ah, there is also something special," the System added.

"...What is it?" Feng Yongrui asked, unsure if he really wanted to know or not.

"For the lucky draw, the original probability for items that you can get is like this, Host," the System spoke, showing him a list of things.

1. Useless miscellaneous items/skills (Probability 40%)

2. Weapons (Probability 10%)

3. Medicine (Probability 10%)

4. Manuals (Probability 10%)

5. Items (Probability 10%)

6. Skills (Probability 10%)

7. Something you really need (Probability 5%)

8. Points (Probability 5%)

"...I know this," Feng Yongrui said. "Don't tell me you're going to change the probability for the Happy Hour?"

"Correct, Host."

Feng Yongrui rolled his eyes. The System would probably make the probability of useless and miscellaneous items become 100% or something...

"Here's the probability of the lucky draw during the Happy Hour, Host," the System spoke.

1. Useless miscellaneous items/skills (Probability 0%)

2. Weapons (Probability 10%)

3. Medicine (Probability 10%)

4. Manuals (Probability 10%)

5. Items (Probability 10%)

6. Skills (Probability 10%)

7. Something you really need (Probability 40%)

8. Points (Probability 10%)

Feng Yongrui looked at the list and rolled his eyes. As expected...

Wait!

He looked at the list and did a double take. What was this? The probability of something he needed was raised to 40%?!

And the probability of getting something useless was... 0%?!

Since when was the System this generous?!

Feng Yongrui looked at the list again, checking his eyesight. Was he seeing things clearly?

Feng Yongrui squinted and noticed a set of fine print at the bottom right side of the list.

"Terms and conditions apply."

Feng Yongrui: =_=

...Why did he actually have a little bit of hope just now?

"What are the terms and conditions?" Feng Yongrui asked.

"If during your first lucky draw you get 'something that you need', you're not allowed to do another lucky draw," the System said.

"If you get something other than that, then you are allowed to do the lucky draw twice."

"...I see..." Feng Yongrui sighed. Well, it wasn't that bad.

He checked his profile. He had 4 free lucky draws.

"I'll do a lucky draw, System," Feng Yongrui said.

"Are you sure, Host?"

"I'm sure. Let's go," Feng Yongrui said.

"Alright, Host~ Lucky draw is commencing~~"

"Ding~ You have received something that you need, 'Coat of Sherlock'~~" the System's voice said.

Feng Yongrui looked down at his hands. He was holding an ulster, just like the ones that Sherlock Holmes usually wore in movies and pictures...

"What does this thing do?" Feng Yongrui quickly asked the System, feeling excited.

"Host, when you wear this coat, you'll be able to become like Sherlock Holmes, spotting details and becoming smarter than usual," the System explained.

"I see... This should be a pretty good item," Feng Yongrui grinned.

There was nothing better in this world than getting something useful for free...

"Wait, what do you mean smarter than usual?" Feng Yongrui hissed. "Are you saying that normally I'm not smart?"

"Correct, Host~~"

Feng Yongrui fought the urge to curse and looked at the ulster in his hands. He draped it over his shoulders and suddenly felt a wave of clarity inside his mind.

"Eh?" Feng Yongrui looked around the room.

Suddenly, Xu Chao's room, which previously looked like just a common room, seemed to be filled with countless shiny things.

Feng Yongrui could not resist. He walked over to the closest shiny thing. It was a medium-sized wooden box. Feng Yongrui opened it gently and looked at the contents.

There were several broken brushes inside the box. They were the usual Chinese writing brushes, but they were all broken into two.

Feng Yongrui brought the brushes closer to his face and observed it. These brushes weren't broken by a sword... Based on the area that surrounded the broken brushes... someone had broken the brushes with his own hands.

Feng Yongrui imagined it inside his head. Someone held the brush with both hands and snapped the brush into two...

But who could've done it, and why was the brush kept inside this box? Feng Yongrui didn't need to think too much, because he felt his hand move involuntarily, bringing the brush closer to his nose.

He sniffed the brush. This brush had no smell, but the shaft had a brilliant red color. Usually, for writing brushes like this, they were made of red sandalwood, which had no scent.

If he pieced the brushes back together and considered the length... it seemed that only men would use a brush like this. Feng Yongrui's fingers gently grazed the tip of the brush.

Based on the texture and moderate stiffness of this brush, it was probably made of goat and weasel hair. Also, judging by the marks on the brush, these brushes were used for writing documents.

With all of those factors combined, wasn't it clear whose brush it belonged to?

This was definitely Xu Chao's writing brush! And! He had broken them into two!

No, there wasn't just one brush inside this box. There were several brushes.

Feng Yongrui's mind recalled the scene he saw... Xu Chao was reading the documents calmly for a few minutes, before he flew into a rage and threw around the items around his room.

Perhaps... breaking those brushes was part of Xu Chao's way to relieve his anger?

Feng Yongrui quickly put down the brush and looked at the other "shiny" things around the room. He finally understood how the "Coat of Sherlock" worked!

Those "shiny" things he saw were definitely the important factors or clues that he could see and observe. With the help of the "Coat of Sherlock", he would be able to figure out the clues around this room and what they meant!

Feng Yongrui was elated, and he quickly used the cloak to rummage through Xu Chao's room, finding this and that.

About two hours later, Feng Yongrui sat down on the floor, looking at the room around him. He felt like a robber who had just ransacked someone's room and looked at everything inside.

No, he felt more like a spy.

Wait, wasn't he a spy?

Feng Yongrui sighed. It didn't matter. Anyway, he had already found out several important information.

For starters, he found out that Xu Chao was very bad tempered. Everywhere inside the room, there were traces of his rage. A dent on the wall, a broken vase that someone forgot to clean up, and so on.

He also found out several quirks that Xu Chao had. For example, Xu Chao liked reading about plants, it was as if he had a gardening hobby. Feng Yongrui also found out that Xu Chao liked wearing dark blue clothes.

He also found out Xu Chao's method of communicating with his spies. Well, Feng Yongrui didn't exactly know who Xu Chao's spies were and how many spies he had, but Feng Yongrui found out his secret writing method for communicating with his spies.
