After lunch, Feng Yongrui let the boys start reading their books and do their task, while he himself returned to his bedroom. When he was alone, he opened the System and took a look at his profile.
Actually, this was the first time Feng Yongrui took a proper look at his profile. So he was shocked to see the amount of information available.
Name: Feng Yongrui
Age: 20
Race: Human
Cultivation Level: Nascent Soul
Body: Intact
Amount of Hair: 100,023 Strands
Innate Talent: (slightly below) Average
Innate Handsomeness Index: Poor
Skills: Hahaha~
Unique Qualities: Easily Bullied; Stupid, but spends money in the right place~
There were several more items on the list, but Feng Yongrui's face was as black as the bottom of a pot. Why is it so ridiculous?!
He could understand the first few lines, but why did it say his body was 'intact'? Even without seeing this panel, he knows his body is fine, you don't need to mention it.
What's the use of counting the number of hairs he has?! System, are you that bored?
The most infuriating things were the innate talent and innate handsomeness index.
"System! How can my handsomeness be 'poor'?! I'm pretty good looking, alright?"
The System made no comment, but Feng Yongrui could feel its silent ridicule.
When Feng Yongrui saw the 'skills' and 'unique qualities', he initially had high hopes. Who knew that the System would be this ruthless.
"What does this 'hahaha' mean, huh? You don't know what skills I have so you just randomly filled it with laughter, right? And since when was I 'easily bullied'?" Feng Yongrui was practically shouting right now.
Thankfully, his shouts were in his head, so no one would hear it and think he was a crazy fool talking to himself.
"Host, please calm down. Even though you are stupid, at least you spend your money in the right place~"
Feng Yongrui: "..."
(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
Patience, patience.... Feng Yongrui chanted a mantra several times and took a deep breath.
Forget it. What he wanted to actually check was his points, so he scrolled down and saw that he had 30 points.
Feng Yongrui was naturally happy. He wasn't very poor anymore, meaning he could buy items and browse the System Mall without feeling like a complete beggar.
Feng Yongrui began an intense round of discussion and negotiation with the System. Feng Yongrui may have been easily used and placated by the System before, but now when he got serious and he really wanted something, he was relentless.
Feng Yongrui pressured the System with threats and persuaded with words too, telling the System that it owed him a lot since it had misplaced this world's information and forgot to tell him about the 5% chance of a daily task upgrading.
Under Feng Yongrui's persistent pressure, the System was forced to compromise and so the two reached an agreement: Every day Feng Yongrui would give the System 3 points and in exchange, the System would provide him and his disciples with a healthy set of breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Essentially, Feng Yongrui would be spending 3 points for his meals every day. Feng Yongrui felt it was a good deal. Since he had the Daily Missions, he could earn money, so he didn't feel too bad.
A certain System: Heh, don't you think the Immortal Pathway Sect has its own food and chefs? But you still had to buy your food from me instead of saving your points~ Hehe, no wonder your unique quality is being stupid~
Of course, Feng Yongrui hadn't thought of that; he was fooled by the System and thought he had struck a great deal.
The next day Feng Yongrui was forced to wake up early while the two disciples were still asleep. He went to go to the kitchen to pretend to cook, when he was actually only receiving the food from the System. He was given 3 lunch boxes made of wood.
There was some rice, boiled egg, sauteed vegetables, and pork with gravy. Feng Yongrui nodded with satisfaction. A healthy meal indeed. Feng Yongrui had breakfast with the disciples and they continued their studies immediately after.
At noon, the two boys submitted their homework and Feng Yongrui checked them. He was pleasantly surprised to find that they both did very well. Hou Renshu was mature and calm, his handwriting steady and neat. His analysis and summary were good and comprehensive.
Ma Bo was also good. Even though his handwriting was a bit erratic from time to time, it was pretty understandable. Ma Bo's analysis and summary were also comprehensive, with only a few flaws here and there.
"You both are very good students," Feng Yongrui told them honestly. A hint of pride was seen in Hou Renshu's eyes, and his lips couldn't help curving into a smile.
Ma Bo was also pleased, his cheeks dyed with a faint red color, like the shy shades of a crimson flower.
"T-this disciple thanks Master for the praise," Ma Bo said, twisting his fingers and smiling. Hou Renshu also saluted and said his thanks, looking quite happy.
"You don't need to be so formal," Feng Yongrui replied. He was a modern person and really wasn't used to hearing people speak in third person. It made him think twice before answering, because he was afraid of misunderstanding something or saying something wrong.
Anyway, when Feng Yongrui praised his disciples, it wasn't empty word. He didn't know what other ten year olds were like, but he knew that if his ten year old self was told to read 5 to 6 manuals, make a summary AND write an analysis... in one day...
Feng Yongrui didn't think he would be able to do so.
He didn't know if children in the cultivation world were naturally this smart or if his disciples were smarter than average because they were key characters in this world, but Feng Yongrui couldn't help feeling proud.
Next Feng Yongrui taught his disciples the basics of cultivating. He helped them sense the qi in the air and collect them in their lower dantian. He guided them and taught them until night fell, and the three had a hearty meal again.
By this time, Hou Renshu and Ma Bo were used to Feng Yongrui's habit of eating with them, so the meal wasn't very awkward.
Feng Yongrui also changed. Initially, he wanted to maintain his "cool and hard to reach" image as their master. However, he felt that if he was a "mature" elder, really, what was the difference from him and other old elders in the Immortal Pathway Sect?
What he wanted was to get closer to these precious kids, and give them a happy childhood. He did not know what this world was about, whether this world was based on a happy novel or a tragedy one, but he wanted them to have good memories here, at least with him.
He did not want them to grow up with stiff elders and one day look back saying "I never had a childhood". He... didn't want them to end up like him.
Feng Yongrui cleared his head from any messy thoughts and focused on eating with the two disciples. He decided to... just be himself. At least, be himself and add some maturity in it too.
So, throwing away any reservations he had, Feng Yongrui tried to talk to them. Actually, Feng Yongrui was dying to know about their background and family, but he knew they weren't close enough yet.
So Feng Yongrui shifted his attention to the weather (since it is the safest topic under the sun...). The two boys opened up and replied from time to time. Although Hou Renshu was more withdrawn and did not talk as much, Feng Yongrui saw him nod and listen attentively.

After dinner, Feng Yongrui bade his disciples goodnight and retreated to his bedroom. Hou Renshu offered to wash the boxes, but Feng Yongrui refused and told him to just go and sleep. Feng Yongrui didn't need to wash it anyway, he could just return it to the System.
That night, Feng Yongrui had sweet dreams of the future.
Anyway, the next few days were spent just like that. Feng Yongrui would guide his disciples in their cultivation, he would eat with them and chat from time to time, and Feng Yongrui would complete his Daily Missions.
Speaking of his Daily Missions, Feng Yongrui had set a pattern for himself. First, he could always complete the 'easy' task, earning 5 points. However, since he spent 3 points each day on food, essentially he would be earning 2 points only.
Then there were the 'medium' and 'hard' tasks, which were usually feasible but ridiculous. If Feng Yongrui had the time AND he felt that they were okay, he would do them. However, Feng Yongrui was often very cautious with those tasks, afraid he would trigger the upgrade and face an 'extra hard' task.
Therefore, each day, Feng Yongrui would either get 2, 7, or 12 points, based on the amount of tasks he did that day. However, the tasks never failed to make Feng Yongrui speechless.
Usually they were harmless tasks, but they were really ridiculous, and many times, Feng Yongrui had to change his face before completing his task, so that no one knew his identity.
Over time, Feng Yongrui had accumulated 94 points, making him ecstatic.
