Chapter 6
She sat in her cat staring at the text from Iggy. "Bingo!" A smile settled on her lips, into a curve. She zoomed off.
Thirty minutes on,
Iggy and two other women had been present, the event was meant to start around 8pm. She waited in the living room staring at her finely polished nails, they seemed very pretty just as she looked. She maintained a tight smile while the she watched the employees walk past her, definitely working in preparation to the event coming up in hours. She wasn't there for the event, she was fixated on the relationship she would have establish in the next few days, nothing about the couple intrigued her, she was envious.
"Dianne!" Iggy called out in an elegant tone as Dianne turned to her, she stood erect. Its really a lot of work being humble, she told herself. She forced a friendly smile as they hugged, Iggy seemed to like her already, that was a major headstart in her terms.
"I'm very much delighted to meet with you Iggy, how are you doing?" Dianne asked maintaining her icy tone
"You could tell that a lot has been going on lately, i'd like you to meet my friends. Nina and Maya, they are big shots of the city. They'd love you!" Iggy said
"Of course, I'd love you meet them all!"
"Besides, you rock in this Givenchy outfit." Iggy complimented, that a lot coming from the mean woman.
"Thanks a lot!" Dianne smiled, of course she needed no one to remind her that she rocked. She knew that.
"Shall we?" Iggy interrupted her thoughts, Dianne nodded affirmatively as they walked ahead. They headed for the hall where the event would take place, the decors was half way done. Two women stood abreast talking and laughing, holding a glass of champagne respectively. They were dressed in elegant dresses and heels, their jewelry glowed, they both had neat ponytails on. Iggy and Dianne approached instantly with smiles on their faces.
"Nina! Maya!" Iggy called out. Both women turned to them immediately as they smiled and well.
"Yes Iggy, we've been searching for you. Where have you been?" Maya asked, she was a blonde while Nina was brunette.
"Oh that! I vanished to get someone. Meet Dianne Browne, I met her last night at the after party y'all ditched!" Iggy stated sternly. Nina rolled her eyes in distaste.
"Nice to meet you Dianne," Maya stretched her hand for a handshake "if Iggy finds you interesting then you are." Maya added but Dianne took that statement as a bizarre one. Literally no one on the face of earth had never liked her, her aura was unbeatable, she reminded herself inwardly.
"Really? That's graceful then!" Dianne added
"Yes! She'd join us for the event, what's on the bucket list Nina?"
"Everything and anything! I didn't know that there'd be a plus to our trio. I mean, there's no room created for urgencies." Nina blurted out disrespectfully
"Don't be ridiculous Nina, don't make me hate you for this!" Iggy stated sternly in defense
"Nina. You're unbelievable right now! I thought you'd maintain a level of maturity, I mean you're not a puppet..." Maya stated too with a tight smile
"...And people could be one if they choose!" Dianne added, smiling. She stared at Nina intently, the others were stunned.
"You see, this is one of the reasons I fell for her. She's picky when it comes to words, venomous." Iggy added
"I hope we don't have future problems Nina, I mean we could do better than this. I respect Iggy as well as Maya and i'd love to respect you too. But then, it had to be reciprocated, don't you think?" Dianne fired
"That's a point Nina." Maya shrugged
"Of course Dianne, hopefully!" Nina stated with a forceful smile
"Alright guys, we should see the Don and our friends at the garden." Iggy suggested. Dianne left behind a daunting stare at Nina as they walked away.
They started in the way of the of the men. The men turned towards the direction of their women, it was a surprise to see another woman in their mist. Roland, Maya's husband patted Dickson lightly and asked
"Did you invite that lady? Who's she?"
The Don was shocked at Dianne's appearance and presence & eloquence.
"I..I had no idea she'd come.." Dickson stated unconsciously
"You know her huh?" Scotty, Nina's husband asked
"No I just...I mean..whatever!" Dickson shrugged. The stopped which digressed the conversation. Each woman gave their respective husbands a kiss on the lips, on cheek, whichever worked for them. Dianne stood still with tight smile instead, she was pissed at their exorbitance, if she wanted these men to crawl on their knees for her then it would happen. She bashed that thought anyways.
"Darling, this is Dianne. The lady from last night!" Iggy explained holding tightly unto the Don's arm.
"Of course! I remember her, she's the same lady I had a meeting with earlier. Can you recall?" He said you his wife while his eyes stayed glued at Dianne's direction.
"She's a different type of woman if you ask me!" Iggy said
"You think so!" Dickson cringed a little
"And we? Don't we get an introduction too?" Scotty stated, it was obvious that the men wanted to know this unique and alluring woman, who stood in style and elegance. All Dianne could do was smile at their charade, she felt on top capture so much attention as this!" Dianne said to herself while she smiled, accepting and exchanging pleasantries.
They all headed back into the hall since it was some minutes last 8pm, important people had began to arrive.
The music was on, different varieties of food, local and foreign was prepared at it's best. They all gathered around chattering, everyone seemed to be comfortable.
"I didn't know that she could do such a thing, it felt like it wasn't the timid Maya I got married to two years ago!" Roland stated while Maya blushed then they exchanged a swift kiss
"And you Dianne, do you in any have intentions of getting married?" Maya asked in a friendly manner "I mean, marriage is quite a beautiful thing!"
The others nodded in agreement. I hate such a question, Dianne said to herself. She took a sip from drink.
"Er! It may sound weird to y'all but I've never given it a thought!" She snapped
'C'mon Dianne, every woman thinks of a man she wanna spend the rest of her life with, right ladies?" Iggy inquired ad the ladies affirmed with a swift not.
"Uh! I'm yet to find myself a man, I don't think I have such time to find a man! He'd find me!" She explained briefly "I'm sure that your men found y'all right?" She teased and they laughed. She smiled ad well, such a topic had never impressed her, all she wanted was the money and nothing else.
Her phone buzzed as she took a peep at it, it was Castro. She excused herself as she found her way out of the hall where the music was lesser.
"Hi Castro?"
"Gorgeous! I've been looking around in search of you, I stopped by your apartment. Where the fuck are you?"
"Should that be part of your business, I don't have to tell you everything, do I?" She said
"Don't be ridiculous right now!" He snapped, she tried to annoy him with her direct responses.
"Im at the Don's, remember the party?" She said
"Of course! I'll wait at your apartment, we have to see Roscoe!"
"That asshole!" She snapped
"Whatever Dianne, I'll see you soon darling!" He hung up
She turned to leave as she bumped into the Don, she suspected that he must have heard everything. She maintained her composure instead
"Oh! Don, you're here!"
"Yes I am, I actually got here seconds ago! I knew that I'd find you here, did I interrupt?" He asked, giving a witty smile.
"Not at all! I was about to go in anyways!" She gave a faint smile accompanied by a flirtatious stare as she attempted to leave then he held her gently by the arm.
"I didn't know that you'd get along with my wife. That's oblivious, its obvious that you are who she says you are! I like that!" He stated basically she turned to him, he released slowly. She maintained her smirk.
"You think?" She snapped "Do you really believe every word someone tells you? People change!" She said
"That's right! I believed what my wife told me, maybe i should believe what i see."
"Whichever one you decide!" She attempted to leave as he held her again
"So soon?" He asked
"Your wife might hate this moment Don, I love and respect Iggy so much!"
"Something about you feels unique, just a day around you feels like a year!" He stated
"I'm a lucky charm myself!" She took off his her slowly, applying no pressure to it "See you around, Don!" She smirked walking away.
"What am I even doing?" He cautioned himself. He was suddenly attracted to this woman, he's spent 5 years and 8 months with Iggy and has never looked at another differently, he wasn't sure what was happening to him. Could it be that he was slowly falling in love with this woman in a day?
Dianne returned to the hall as she pulled Iggy away from her friends.
"What's the matter Dianne, don't you like the party anymore?" Iggy asked
"I don't just like it, i love it! But I have go right now..."
"You could actually pass the night..."
"Some other time darling, it really needs my attention!" Dianne coaxed
"Alright then!" Iggy rubbed Dianne's arms gently and swiftly but Dianne felt some type of awkwardness by that action.
"Thanks for the invite, I love it! And please explain to the girls as well!"
"Of course, honey!"Iggy snapped
As soon as the Don came into view, Dianne made her way out of the hall, his intense stare at Dianne was extreme but Iggy didn't notice. She watched Dianne leave, she liked this woman.
Dianne arrived home while Castro was leaning on his car patiently looking around the neighborhood that seemed peaceful anyways. She got out of her car and headed to Castro's instead. They hugged but extended a kiss on her cheek, she shunned. He was her friend and he was the only person that could tolerate yet understands her better.
"Hot as always!" He complimented and she rubbed his chin lightly, he opened the door for her she slid into it then he closed heading to the drivers' side. They sped away.
While on the drive,
He stirred up without hesitation, he was positive about the party.
"How did it go?"
"Perfect! Just as planned..."
"And the Don?"
She knew that he'd ask.
"Uh, he's down to earth! You know he would!" She added, shrugging.
"I hope he doesn't fall too deep...I'm jealous in advance!" He spilled his mind out, she beamed.
"You don't have to, I don't like him neither do I care about him or them! I'm all about the plan, the money we would get in return Castro. That should be our concern, not their shit feelings!" She blurted
"That's right. Roscoe is fuckin waiting on us, Dumpy, Mason and Katie are waiting as well"
"Sounds like a fuckin roll call!" She added teasingly. Castro could only wish that nothing eventually happens between Dianne and the Don, he wouldn't forgive the Don. He thought to himself.
While flashes of the Don eroded her mind, what if he falls in love with her or she does, would that be enough? No. She wanted the money, his wealth, the cartel's entirety. She would do anything to steal his fortune, his feelings didn't and will it matter to her, she muttered inside her.
"5 minutes more!" He said
"You might wanna hit 180°, I'm really exhausted!" She said as she leaned comfortably
"Your call!" He did as she commanded

The underground;
They walked into the building ad they securities hollered at them, their hard faces could make you think twice about your intentions, good or bad.
As always, Roscoe stood beside the fireplace with a cigar in his mouth, everyone was standing. They came into view after they gave each other a swift stare.
"Y'all took forever, did you really..." Dumpy began teasingly as Castro interrupted
"Shut the fuck up, bitch!"
Roscoe turned to them slowly as he crushed the cigar butt on the ashtray. He sat crossing his legs.
"Always taking too much time Dianne, what's the matter?" He asked
"All in favor of the plan, nothing unusual." She snapped confidently yet coldly. "You know that i do my job, flawlessly not like others who'd have to think twice!" She added, she referred to Katrina. Katrina gave her a distasteful stare, Dianne ignored.
"What have you got?" Roscoe asked
"I gained access to the mansion earlier, its quite secured but I'm yet to find passes." Dianne explained
"Sounds good but that's not enough, you had a handful of hours to tour around..." Roscoe stated defiantly
"But its only a day...." Dianne was defensive
"Yet people like us get it done within a day, do you fuckin get it?" He yelled, Dianne maintained her composure, he was on her nerves already.
"If you want this done, you're gonna have to give me more time, boss. This shit ain't a joke, I'm literally risking my life, playing around a cartel Don?" She expressed herself, Roscoe was disappointed but she had a point. His Impatience always had it way when it was about money.
"In as much as I fuckin wanna shoot your ass, I can't do this without you!" Roscoe stated almost calmly swinging his gun.
"You fuckin do!" She said underneath her breath
"We need a month for this to turn out well, we all fuckin got this!" Castro said
"Castro, do you really know this is taking forever? Your ass knows better, don't it?" Roscoe said "Dumpy? Mason? Y'all gotta crack that shit sooner or my bullets!"
"Yes boss!" They answered in unison walking out
"Katrina? Get your ass to work!" He instructed as she walked away after she nodded
"Yes boss!" She said walking out too.
The three of them had left already, Roscoe turned to them.
"Y'all are the life of this game, so don't fuckin play it!" He said
"Yes boss!" They answered in unison. He handed a document to Dianne. "That's another high end client, y'all gotta get us some cash for some party!"
"Of course!" She said calmly
"Be safe out there, Dianne!" He added as he walked away, they made their way out of the building. They entered Castro's car driving away.
"Wanna fuckin scotch tonight?" Castro offered
"I think I do!" She answered coldly
He drove to a bar they usually hung at, maybe they needed to talk about this whole game.
