"I'm finally back."
I shut the door to my room and threw my bag onto my bed.
There were only a few people up hanging out in the main lobby area of the building, but other than that everybody was in their room or sleeping. I checked the time on my watch and sighed at the thought of getting up tomorrow.
3:00 AM|
I had a class tomorrow morning, and it was a history class. I didn't know the professor or who was in my class, but we'll see tomorrow I guess.
'I should get into bed as soon as possible.'
I looked down at my body. I was soaked with sweat and my hair was covering my face.
'Yeah no, shower first and maybe a haircut some other time.'

"How are your students doing Naomi?"
Said a man with a husky deep voice.
"They're doing well headmaster, although there are a few that pale in comparison to other students."
Naomi said with her back straight and tablet in front of her. The headmaster leaned forward on his desk, which was situated in a very cozy office that had an atmosphere of warmth.
He crossed his fingers and placed his hand in front of his face in a resting position. The man seemed to be deep in thought before he asked.
"Any outstanding students you have?"
After hearing his question, Naomi raised the tablet and handed it over to the Headmaster.
"Yes sir, Jenna Leclair and Nathan Chalut seem to be the most outstanding students in my class as of current."
Kalem stroked his grey beard whilst thinking.
"I know the Leclair girl is a Scion, but what about this boy here?"
"Ah, about that sir Nathan is a bow user and ranked #46 out of the 1,000 kids we are training currently. He shows a lot of promise for being from a relatively humble family with no prior background in combat."
Kalem stared at the image of Nathan on the tablet briefly before he continued.
"Is that all? I heard you held some duels recently."
Kalem seemed to want more information.
"Haaa- yes old man ugh I did hold some duels, how much longer do I have to report for anyway?"
Naomi said with a sigh.
"Just give me a few details and you can go off and do whatever you young people do nowadays. Who did the Leclair girl fight?"
"..."
Kalem furrowed his brows at Naomi's sudden silence.
"Something wrong Naomi?"
"No but about the student that faced off against Jenna he..."
"He what?"
Kalem asked in anticipation.
"He was rank #995..."
"..."
Kalem went silent to contemplate the words that had just come out of Naomi's mouth.
"Um, you alright old man?"
"Are you telling me you put a rank #995 student against a Scion? Are you insane?"
He asked with a facepalm.
"Well sir you see it was randomized but the student did well nonetheless!"
"He did well you say? As a low rank against a high-rank Scion?"
Kalem asked with curiosity.
"Yes."
"Show me the video then."
Naomi took her tablet back from Kalem and swiped on the screen before projecting a large video in the air in front of them both.
"Here it is sir."

I looked down at my right arm and observed the tattoo engraved on my wrist. It wasn't too large but it was definitely there.
I took my thumb from my left hand and tried to get it off somehow, but that was a stretch. I was only in the shower and not in some mystical bath.
'I'm definitely selling this thing.'
I already learned the Rift Art it provided, and I had no use for it any longer. I'm sure it could sell for a lot of money if I say it's some renowned memento from a family.
The water gently splashed onto my skin as I was winding down from the training earlier. After stepping out of the shower, I instantly changed into some clothes to sleep in.
Opening my closet, I found clothes my parents sent me, which included my nightshirt made out of a satin-like material. Quickly putting my sleepwear on, I headed to my bed and set the alarm for tomorrow morning's history class.
3:20 AM|
'Fuckin hell I shouldn't sleep this late again.'
After setting my alarm to 7:00 AM, I jumped into bed like a missile raining down on its target. The bed was cushioned to the point where it felt like a cloud, my body sunk in like I was floating on water.
'As expected from the most powerful Riftwalker academy in the human domain.'
Of course their beds would be this comfortable, fit for the gods even.
I settled into my sheets and pulled up the blanket they provided which was soft and kept you warm like a ray of light.
That night, I fell asleep like a baby.
The morning after, on the other hand wasn't so serene. I woke up halfway out of bed with my blankets covering the floor, it was like I was fighting in my sleep.
My alarm didn't go off or maybe I just slept through it but either way, I woke up at 7:20 meaning that I only had 10 minutes to get ready and make my way to class.
"Shit!"
I fell out of bed and instantly got into a fight with a behemoth of blankets. After getting loose from its evil clutches, I ran to the bathroom and managed to get into my uniform within 1 minute.
I had everything put together but my gloves were missing so I quickly ran out of the bathroom and reached for my bag I put down last night.
After sliding my gloves on with haste, I brushed my hair as quickly as possible but the way it was cut or lack thereof made it difficult. It took me a moment before I was satisfied with the way it turned out.
I grabbed the stuff I needed for this history lesson which was a notebook and pen for notes and rushed out of the door.
The dorm was for the most part empty besides some students that didn't have classes today. When I got out of the building the sky was sunny and the weather was cool.
I didn't have time to admire the weather though. I was running out of time so I quickly looked at my watch in order to gauge the amount I had left.
7:28|
'Shit!'
I thought to myself while running out of the dorm area. I kept on running for a bit until I realized my biggest blunder.
I didn't even know where the class was.
My heart sank and my expression turned to dread. Only after looking through my watch for a solid ten minutes I figured out the classroom number and made my way to it.
It was part of the academy that was near the large cafeteria I've only been to a few times.
After walking for about 5 more minutes I found myself standing in front of the classroom, I checked my watch once more to see how late I was.
'Maybe the Professor can be lenient?'
7:43 AM|
'I'm fucked.'
As I entered the room the professor was in the middle of reading attendance and he was nearing the end of his list.
He had long black hair that reached to his lower back and was wearing thin-rimmed glasses with an attached lanyard, he gave off the feeling of a renowned nobleman and looked at me with judgmental eyes.
"Student Keir Licht rank #995 right?"
He said with disdain.
"Yes sir, my apologies for being late."
"Don't be sorry, be on time. Go take a seat."
The way he spoke was stern and critical like a nobleman speaking to a servant. He pushed up his glasses before continuing.
"As I was about to say before I was interrupted, my name is Joshua Albrecht your history professor. I expect to be referred to as Professor Albrecht nothing less and nothing more."
I made my way up the rows of seats before I took a seat next to a young man with medium-length blonde hair and ocean like blue eyes.
As soon as I took a seat next to him all the girls in a 10-foot radius shot me glares of death, I felt under pressure and soon enough got up and made my way to a place one seat away from him.
"Hey Keir."
I turned around to my left and saw a pair of familiar faces.
"Fukuyo?"
"Psst- I'm here too."
Kiran poked out from behind Fukuyo's silhouette.
"Oh, it's just you."
I said with a disappointed tone.
"What the hell kind of reaction is that?!"
Kiran shot up from his seat and he was gritting his teeth.
"Silence! Young Master Azar please take your seat."
Kiran was instantly admonished by Professor Albrecht and bowed in his direction.
"Sorry sir."
After apologizing, Kiran instantly shot back down into his seat while Fukuyo watched in confusion.
When I looked at the professor, he shot back a glare that made me shiver, and when I looked around the classroom I saw plenty of girls and guys staring back at me with immense bloodlust.
Seeing this, I instantly obscured myself behind my notebook and looked at the two people sitting next to me.
'Eh?'
