Chapter 60 - Two Fights, 1 Chapter

(Wednesday, 1st of Dream King Moon, 2021)

The arena now took the form of a massive set of grassy plains, with something odd hovering over the arena. Flying above the arena were small islands, with flat surfaces above and rocky bottoms below. In the middle of the arena on the gray slab, Othelia resided in her Mech, while Rico and Nico stood together. Othelia's Mech looked different from usual, instead of looking like a black brick, it now looked like a human dawning black armor, paired with wing-like jet packs in the back and shoulder mounted machine guns. The left arm was a fusion between a rail gun and minigun, while the right arm was a hand that held onto a sci-fi looking chainsaw sword. Meanwhile, Nico and Rico looked well equipped, with Nico holding some kind of dagger that emitted dark energy paired with a black chain and Rico wearing a white gauntlet that depicted a yellow lizard along on his right hand with a glove on the same hand.

"Yo, Othelia, your mech's looking taller than usual." Rico observed the rather tall Mech.

"Thank you, Professor Nikola suggested I make it taller so I can fit a certain generator inside of it." Othelia watched as Nico turned himself into a mirror, and used his cloth to wrap himself around Rico's right leg. "That's some fancy equipment you and Nico got though."

"Thanks, we killed a two halved dragon and used the resources to make this stuff." Rico informed the Mech pilot. "It was a light/dark variety. I got the light side, and my brother got the dark side."

"Oh nice, I used the parts of a steel golem to make this new mech." Othelia bragged, while Maui's voice came back on the intercom.

"SORRY EVERYONE, I NEEDED A BATHROOM BREAK!" Maui's voice boomed through the stadium, and Nikola calmly responded while beside his friend.

"We know, your mic was on the entire time." Nikola responded flatly. "So what the hell is the 'Ding Dong Song'?"

"ALRIGHT, LOOKS LIKE WE HAVE AN ODD MATCHUP HERE TODAY FOLKS!" Maui ignored Nikola's question as he looked down at the arena. "THE DECEPTIVE TWINS NICO AND RICO VS THE MECHA MASTER OTHELIA! LET'S BEGIN THE FIGHT NOW!"

"Don't ignore my question, you muscle headed ape." Nikola ordered the muscular man.

Signaling the beginning of the match, Othelia aimed the shoulder mounted machine guns at Rico, who had light reflected from his mirror. The glare from the light created numerous clones made of light around the arena, with most of the clones on the ground, but there were some clones on the floating isles. Two clones were on one of the islands, so they aimed their mirrors at Othelia, and black chains shot out at the Mech from the mirrors. Othelia noticed this, and activated the wings on her Mech, causing them to shoot out condensed blue flames that launched her into the sky. The chains from the two on the island missed her, but Othelia failed to notice that Rico's main body utilized the gauntlet with the lizard. The lizard's mouth opened and it shot out a long, tongue like object to stick to a floating island above Othelia. The tongue stuck to the island and Rico jumped, allowing himself to swing towards Othelia. From the mirror wrapped around his leg, the dagger Nico was holding emerged connected to a black chain, and Rico grabbed the chain. Rico spun the dagger on the chain, and then he launched the dagger at Othelia, who soared into the air, careful not to crash into any islands. Othelia was now above the islands, and she aimed her railgun hand down at the arena.

"Sorry Rico!" Othelia's minigun began to spin and shells began to shoot out of the rail guns.

Explosions engulfed the entire field, and Rico disconnected the lizard's tongue from the island and the tongue swiftly entered the gauntlet. Rico used his lizard gauntlet to launch himself on top of the tallest floating island, and he landed on the flat top before undoing the bandana around his ankle that held the mirror in place. He lifted the mirror up into the sky, and it faced Othelia.

"Desponia's Mirror!" Rico activated his secret technique, and all the sky islands and the ground suddenly turned perfectly reflective like a mirror. "Let's see you hit me now!"

Rico sunk into the now reflective island, and no one could see what was going on thanks to the explosions from Othelia's railgun. From the screen, Jack heard the thunderous crash of explosions and the sound of something breaking.  The explosions engulfed the entire arena, and no one could see anything. Even Maui was confused as to what was going on. After ten seconds of nonstop explosions, a victor clearly emerged. With the explosions finally done, and the smoke clearing, Jack saw Othelia's completely damaged Mech laying atop one of the islands like a deceased corpse, but when the camera looked up, it revealed that Othelia was above the islands, floating slowly thanks to her parachute. Othelia held a small white flag, signaling her surrender. Meanwhile, Rico emerged from the top island's reflective surface and Nico turned back into a human.

"THE WINNER OF THIS ROUND ARE THE DECEPTION TWINS, NICO AND RICO!!!" Maui shouted, and the crowd erupted into cheers. "Now we wait for Othelia to get down before changing the arena, for safety reasons."

After Othelia landed on the ground, the arena changed into a graveyard. Jack wasn't sure why a graveyard of all things was a valid choice for an arena, but it was happening right there. The grass of the graveyard was overgrown and the graves were falling apart until they were nothing more than erected pieces of rock. Aside from graves, there was a single, small church with black wood walls, a golden bell in the bell tower, and glowing yellow lights inside, making themselves visible through the windows of the church. Walking towards each other were the next set of combatants.

"LET'S GIVE A WELCOMING ROUND OF APPLAUSE OF THE GREATEST SET OF OPPOSITES IN SANCTUARY ACADEMY!!!" Maui then began introducing the next combatants. "FROM THE WEST, WE HAVE THE SILENT PHANTOM WHO CALLS THE DEAD TO HER BECKON CALL, HEL!!!! FROM THE EAST, WE HAVE THE HOLY PRIEST WHO WILL NOT DIE, YURIYEV RASPUTIN!!!!"

From their respective entrances, the necromancer and priest entered the arena. Hel's attire changed slightly. Instead of her usual black hoodie, she now wore a long black robe that looked like it belonged to a necromancer. It draped over her legs, with long and baggy sleeves. A black hood covered Hel's face until the ghost removed it, revealing a skeleton mask resting on the side of her head. When Rasputin walked out, he wore pitch black colored priest robes, along with a priest's scarf that depicted the sun. In his hand, Rasputin held a book.

"Praise be to God Sol." Rasputin held his book to the side of his chest while raising his right hand so his palm would face towards Hel.

"Yikes, a priest vs a necromancer, that's not a good combo for me." Hel summoned a scythe that looked like it was made of bones, with the blade of the scythe looking similar to a horse skull in the shape of a scythe. "But I'll try my hardest here."

"BEGIN!"

The fight began by Hel floating away from Rasputin, who created a Lance of light from his palm to attempt to pierce Hel's chest. Hel hovered back until she was above the graves, and she raised her scythe in the air. The mouth of the blade opened up, and a wispy blue light shot out of the mouth along with an ear damaging screech. The wispy blue light engulfed the graves, and bodies began rising out of the graves one by one. The zombies rose from their graves, some wielding swords, some wielding guns, and others summoning the elements to appear around them like magic. Rasputin calmly looked around, and he saw that zombies were rising out of all the graves in the arena.

"HOLY SHIT, WHY DO YOU HAVE ACTUAL HUMAN BODIES IN THE ARENA?!" Maui shouted in a relative fear, and Herakles only sighed in response. "HERAKLES, WHAT THE FUCK?!"

"I didn't put the bodies there, Hel just summoned them." Herakles scowled at the giant man. "Also, watch your language, we have children watching this too, you know."

"SUSPICIOUS AS HELL BUT I DON'T WANNA GET FIRED SO I'LL ACCEPT IT!" Maui shouted before the attention shifted back onto the match.

The zombies with swords rushed towards Rasputin, who dodged a thrust from a rapier first, then placed his palm against the face of the zombie with the rapier in question. Golden light surrounded the zombie, and it suddenly turned to ash. Rasputin slammed his palm against the ground, and the entire gray slab in the middle of the arena lit up with a blinding golden light. While Rasputin stood in the middle of the light, he began to confidently look at the zombies disintegrate while they stood on the light. With the sword zombies away, now Rasputin had to worry about the zombies with guns and magic. The gunner zombies aimed their rifles at Rasputin and began to fire bullets at the priest. Rasputin had no ranged abilities, so he ran towards Hel, with the bullets from the assault rifles plunging deep into his skin, and one bullet even going straight through his head, yet Rasputin would not falter. He kept on running towards Hel and even had his palm directly in front of her face, ready to attack. Hel smiled, and a bullet pierced Rasputin's torso, almost going through his heart, and the buzzer went off, signaling the end of the match.

"Rasputin sustained too much damage and continuing to fight is not advised, so Hel wins the match by default!" Maui shouted, and Rasputin chuckled a bit whilst backing away.

"I see, so that was your plan all along." Rasputin smiled before moving his palm away from Hel's face. "Your idea was to injure me to the point where the buzzer would activate."

"Correct, I know I can't win against you because your light magic is most effective against undead, so I decided to wound you to the point where the buzzer would activate." Hel smiled as the zombies turned to ash and blew away in the wind. "You're confident in your durability, so you leave yourself open a lot, even though you have only the basic healing abilities. Despite this, HOW ARE YOU STILL ALIVE?!"

"THROUGH MY BLESSING WITH THE LORD OF COURSE!" Rasputin looked up into the sky, and his eyes sparkled.

While Hel and Rasputin walked towards the South entrance that let to the infirmary, Simo opened the door to the private booth where the rest of the faculty were waiting, still carrying the hot dogs from earlier. Simo entered the room and held the door open for Jojo to walk in. Simo took a seat at the nearby couch, and Titania wasted no time in sitting right next to her crush, visibly annoying the Finnish sniper. Simo was about to push Titania off, until the fairy noticed Jojo, who was hissing at her.

"OH SWEET SOL!" Titania fluttered her wings in the air so she would fly above the hissing badger. "WHAT IS THAT?!"

"That's a honey Badger, they live in Dhahabu and Ukuthula." Elizabeth deadpanned while looking at the fairy. "They're probably one of the most insane animals in Na'iidzeeł, but they're relatively safe."

"The hell it is!" Titania shouted at the doctor while Herakles and Geppetto examined the fight.

"Geppetto, didn't you adjust the shields to mimic everyone's actual durability level alongside Nikola?" Herakles asked the puppet master. "If you matched the shield to Rasputin's level, then maybe the fight would have ended differently."

"But the thing is that none of us exactly know Rasputin's limit." Geppetto replied to the man. "We only adjusted it to match the time he was locked inside of an Iron Maiden for an hour, because going any higher could risk Rasputin dying without the buzzer going off, which is the entire point of this."

"Got it, so how much longer until the main attraction begins?" Herakles asked the puppet master.

"They'll be fighting last, of course." Geppetto smirked, and Herakles looked visibly disappointed. "Okay fine, boss, we'll skip their fight and not cover the other fights."

"What about the fights the people are most excited for?" Herakles asked his friend, who shrugged with a smile.

"Oh we already covered those in this episode, so let's just skip to the good bits." Geppetto suggested with a wink. "In the next set of fights, everyone's powers and abilities are well known, so we'll just skip over their fights for the time being.

"I agree, so let's not keep the audience waiting."

And so, the rest of the fights passed by without anything interesting happening. Mifu fought against Robin next, and Robin surrendered on the spot. Next was Galahad vs Bruce, but there was one major problem. Galahad's fight started around 12 in the afternoon, when Shamsiel's at its strongest, so Bruce was one shot. Saorise vs Leia was next, and Saorise used a variety of machine guns to shoot Leia down from the sky. Damini and Hassan's match ended in a draw. As did the match between Caroline vs Gaia and Molly vs Ned. Matt faced off against James and Mary, so Matt simply picked up the boat and threw it into the ocean closest to Sanctuary. Iris and Goliath fought against one another, and it was a long match, with Iris running around and Goliath hiding until Iris finally ran out of energy, allowing Goliath to deliver a powerful punch to the speedster. Right now, Luna was facing off against Alice in a lake-like arena. Alice had demonic wings coming out of her back along with horns as she conjured black flames that she launched at Luna, who was running away. Meanwhile, Jack was in the locker room, getting ready.

"ALICE WINS BY A LANDSLIDE!" Jack heard Maui shout on the speaker. "Literally, can someone help Luna out? After that, we have a treat for you all!"

Some time passed, and Jack continued to get ready in the locker room before you finished. Jack looked at his opponent and nodded at him before the two of them went down their own walkways. Jack went down the hall that led to the West entrance while his opponent went towards the East entrance. In a sheath on Jack's left side, he had Storyteller, while Nursery Rhyme was in a holster to his right. Jack had an aviator's jacket paired with military pants, boots, and a simple gray shirt. His mother's watch, the sole reason why he's able to summon Artifacts instead of having to haul them all around, was replaced with a necklace that depicted a t-rex skull. It was made of the same materials and performed the same functions, but it didn't get in the way of using some artifacts. Jack's prosthetic foot was covered with a boot, and he walked to the West entrance. The gates opened, and on the other side of the arena, Jack saw his opponent.

Hero.
