Chapter 1 - GAME ON

Opened eyes

Staring at the ceiling, and the green dot of the humming air conditioner installed right above me

I sat up from the bed and look around, rubbing the back of my head. As my eyes start adapting the dark surrounding as second passes, gaining better vision.

The genetic strips that used to dangle down from the air now gone

Weird

I could recall the sensation of them on my finger tip, twisting and twirling onto them

Guess it just disappeared into thin air, just like how it appeared out of nowhere in the first place

I take a glimpse at my phone tossed on the side of the bed due to my initial shock from all that sudden flashes. "Might be a projection" I thought in my head as I pick it up. The screen is black, I pressed the button beside. Nothing, I flipped it around and fumble more, guess it is really dead.

"Give me a break!" I tossed the phone once more, on the bed, harder. Guess I shouldn't, because it bounced hard, I mean real hard. I vaguely saw its silhouette making a suiciding leap of faith off the bed edge, before a loud slap and sharp crack.

It is already broken, anyway.

I head down the bed and flip on the light switch, trying to gain better vision. I knew the screen's dead crack with the sound, and I need some brightness to pick off the shards and pieces out of the flooring. It took another few moment for me to adapt the shines, and once it does, it was pretty clear there was an intruder in my room.

Delivery?

In my room?

I approached the unknown parcel, something that shouldn't be there when the lights were dead off. Even if it was mail, it should be on the doorstep, not my bed-step.

After having closer inspection, I found there is no mailing addresses nor codes, just a weird stamp on the box wall. The stamp was a split in the middle, with a screaming human face on the side and a canine showing chimp on the other. Navy blue, with a row of same-coloured words beneath.

"The hell?" With much oddity, I reached my hand out and picked it. Shook a few times with it close to my ears, heard a rattle, inside it held something that was quite small, yet with some weight. Something that was hand held, fit to one's palm.

And that's when I caught a glimpse of what to be left of my phone. Screen's crack, glitching, yet it is still showing things, illuminating turquoise light in the dark beneath bed. I place the box aside on the study table and reached for it.

A map

A virtual map of light blue lines as well as two symbols on it

One a target, idling on the spot

Another a red arrow, approaching hot and steady from the direction of six

The virtual map, looks familiar

Then it shock me, this is my neighbourhood, and the "target" on screen...

Mother and Dad is off sea for work, Sister's still on the prom, no way they would held a tracking on my cat so...

Me

That's me

Food

I am the Food

The screen glitches once more, this time showing a ticking timer as well as the same exact symbol.
