[Joseon Dynasty - Jeju Island]
During the Joseon Dynasty, Jeju Island was a realm apart, a world of windswept beaches and towering volcanoes, separated from the mainland by miles of ocean. Jagged volcanic rocks embraced the coastline, while verdant hills rolled inland, dotted with patches of citrus and camellia trees, their flowers a riot of color against the emerald landscape. The air was heavy with the scent of the sea, intermingled with the fresh fragrance of the island's vegetation. Deep blue waters stretched out as far as the eye could see, while Mount Hallasan, the island's guardian, stood majestic and tall, its peak often shrouded in mist.
