Adela tried to suppress her smile and moved near his ear, whispering, "If you can't sleep tonight, summon me, Richard. I won't try to make things difficult for you. So I am taking my leave, love." Adela kissed Richard's cheek again and exited.

The carriage came to a halt in front of the gate, and the coachman came down and tapped on the door.
"My Lord, we have arrived." He pushed open the gate for David and Camilla.
David got out of the carriage at that moment. Two guards hurried up to him. Although David's brows narrowed, he at first assisted his daughter in getting out of the carriage. David realized something had happened when he saw two guards hurrying toward him.
He turned to them as Camilla stepped down and said, "What happened? Why do you people look so apprehensive?"
