Adela once again put her head into his chest. She wished to relax, but if she so desired, she could reassure and support Richard. She restrained herself from doing it and instead acted as if she was scared of being detected.
They could hear another footstep. It would take some time to find out whether somebody was hiding there because the chamber was so large and had so many bookcases. Adela and Richard eventually heard some words, although they weren't quite apparent to them.
"Are you sure someone is here?"
"I did not allow anyone to enter but the fireplace! Who lit the fire?"
"Maybe prince. Considering that the prince has visited this place, maybe he forgot to turn it out."
Two guards were speaking with each other. The guard gave a slow nod when he heard the other person, but he wasn't fully convinced. He took a glance around to see if anyone was around. He uttered in a disbelieving tone, "We should check out the entire library."
