My fingers massaged my scalp as I pressed my forehead against the glass panel of the window. I had been standing here for more than ten minutes but the coolness of it seemed to calm my mind. I had become such an incoherent mess that I just could not continue with Tomas.
Feeling his arms wrap around me again had brought all the pain I thought I had done such a great job at healing from, come back to the surface. I guessed this was what Claire meant when she explained the difference between healing and suppressing.
I kicked myself over it the entire night. I was not supposed to show emotion around Tomas but- he had nearly forced me to shoot him and I just crumbled. The thought of seeing him lifeless again ate me up inside. I feared nothing would be left. I knew I had no choice but to face him again this morning, to finally rid myself of this plague that had been haunting my family for years.
