"Did you apologise to Evelyn?" I asked Benedito as I swung our connected hands as we walked to the staples together. Benedito for whatever reason had our double saddle and got Neto! Who would have known he would have named his horse after himself, to be delivered to the ranch so we could go for a ride.
The landscape in winter was always slightly depressing, it was dry and just lacked the life it always breathed during the summer months. It was blistering cold for everyone else I guessed because they were walking around with coats and puffer jackets. Even Benedito wore a black puffer jacket whilst I was still in my shorts and hoodie.
For me this was the best kind of air conditioning.
Benedito raised his eyebrows and looked at me as if I had just told him to dye his hair pink, "You wanted me to apologise to Evelyn."
"Well you did ruin her life," I shrugged.
"Ronaldo ruined her life, not me," he defended.
