Chapter 23 - Dishing Out Justice

This chapter is dedicated to @vic2r_ thanks for your support.

Silently I thought about Dorothy and I can't imagine her being in same situation as Sarah, if I was emotionally mute now then I'd probably be a deranged animal when it comes to Dorothy and I prayed nothing should happen to her instead it should happen to me first and how I wished I could have been there for Sarah.

*Three months later*

Sarah was still in a coma; all hopes were gradually getting lost or maybe it was just my hope to say the least. She was moved to Micah's family private hospital after her successful operation was carried out.

I and Jake took turns in taking care of her sleeping form. Jake most especially hadn't left her side for the past two months, he only left if he had to eat, take his bath or attend lectures which he has been slacking in. He doesn't talk to any one of us as much anymore, and this concerns us all so much.

I took it upon myself to take care of her studies and make sure she was not lagging behind. Our faculty courses were worlds apart and this took a huge toll on me. When I read, I read for her course and mine, I make sure to do each and every assignment given to either of us, the students and staffs in the school who knew what I was doing would always look at me with pity and some would appreciate and because of this when exams came, I had to write mine and after the exams were over when most people had left for their homes, I wrote Sarah's exam.

The guys would always look at me with pity and try to dissuade me saying

'you don't have to do this'

'just focus on yourself Diane'

One time while I was reading non-stop while working on an incomplete assignment at the same time, I hadn't realized that the was almost over, I hadn't had a bite to eat all day and only lived off coffee. It did little to affect me though as this was what most of my days were like, less eating and more studying. I looked so dry, with eye bags under my eyes and puffy cheeks had lost their glory.

I stood up to go a get a refill of my coffee as that was the only time I allowed myself a break from studying, I contemplated taking the whole jug of coffee with me to avoid this kind of breaks once and for all and that was what I did

"When are you going to stop this nonsense?" Zeke had me stop my reverie with this out of the blue question.

"Have you looked at yourself in the mirror lately? You look like shit!" he's right. I think I looked even more than shit.

"Tell it to her Zeke" Dom said walking towards the fridge to get something. What do they expect from me this is a small price compared to what my best friend must be going through? If I could do more than this, then I would.

I rolled my eyes at their comments and left. Since then I avoided them as much as I could and I didn't need to try hard as my over stressful life made it easy for me to do so.

Rinnnggg... rriiinnnggg….

"Hello?" a female voice said begrudgingly across the phone.

"Hey Dorothy, how'd you do" a small smile playing on my face.

"OMG Ann!!! Give me a break for goodness sake, this is the third time you've called this week" I can just imagine the hand gestures of frustration she's throwing around.

"Fine... just this once I want to know how you are and what you've been up to"

"I've said this before and I'll say it again for the one millionth time, I am hale and hearty and I have been working on- "

"you know what, never-mind babe, I'll check on you tomorrow" I said.

"wait! Diane are you okay? Is your life in danger? Are you dying slowly?" I felt bad for making her feel and think this way.

"Can't I check up on my best friend again?" I asked feigning amusement to hide my initial feelings.

"well you can and I appreciate your concerns Ann but for these past two months have been the most checking up you've ever done. It's unusual and worrying."

"I understand, let's talk later then, I have some studying to catch up on." I said in a dismissive tone.

"Alright prof. Diane and I swear to God if your number pops up on my phone for any stupid reason whatsoever, just consider yourself done for" she warned in a frightful tone.

Sigh I miss her so much, after all this I'd be sure to go on a holiday to see her as well as my family and probably get some well-deserved rest.

"Ann! Diane!! S-she's awake" Dom came sprinting into my room screaming like a woman in labor.

"What? What'd you say?" I asked trying to calm him down from whatever made him shout all the way to my room.

"Sarah… it's Sarah"

"What about Sarah Dom? Is she alright? What's going on?!" I asked feeling nervous as f*ck.

"She's awake."

Meanwhile in an underground garage afar off, a woman can be seen kneeling before a brand new car with tinted glasses. The glasses had been rolled a little bit to show a man with a mask smoking a stick of cigarette.

"Sir, the girl has woken up from the news we gathered but she doesn't seem to be able to recall anything as of yet"

"Should we proceed with the plan of finishing her off in case she remembers and decides to expose us or should we keep watching from the side lines."

"Don't do anything to her as of yet, just keep watching her and those friends of hers especially Adonis Michaelson. He is getting closer to the truth, do not let him succeed, if possible eliminate him before he becomes a bigger threat us."

"Yes sir. I'd like to take my leave now if I may?" The woman said shaking a little bit due to fear.

"You can but make no mistakes Sandra, if perhaps even the tiniest bit of slip ups should occur…. I'll be sure to come for your head the first chance I get" He said with a menacing edge to his tone making her shrivel in fear all the more.

"You can count on me sire; I won't let you down" She turned her back to leave with a sigh the fear on a face already replaced with a fierce look of hatred for the just awoken girl lying on a hospital bed.

Watching the back of the slender figure leaving the heavy scowl on the face of the masked man turned into a sinister smile.

'who would've thought she would survive my brutality. Such brave girl… I wonder if her friend is brave just like her.' He thought as his smile deepened to be even more sinister.

"I'd just have to get her to find out" he sighed to himself before making his way out of the garage where another car was quick to replace him.

He wasn't aware that his biggest threat he was just talking about just some minutes ago had been watching him for some time now and it wasn't who he thought it was. It was someone whom he wouldn't imagine it being even in his wildest dream.

His knuckles turned white on the steering wheel as he thought of many ways to end that douche bag's game once and for all. He wished he could be able to end it all once and for all but he had to keep watching from the sidelines for her sake.

Justice was going to be served sooner rather than later and he was going to be the one to dish it out to the perpetrators.
