Based on the blueprints and books that Kian read in the studio, the Conqueror's Crown was once the most powerful object in the entire World Tower. The crown belonged to a man from the first generation who beat the tower, but instead of leaving the tower, he stayed.
He forged the crown using the magic he harnessed from each boss of each floor of the tower. Using the power of one hundred and one bosses, the crown was created.
His name was Lucifer the Conqueror. A few years after his reign, he rebelled against the Council of the Universe and ruled Hell Pit to spread chaos and destruction. He became the final boss of Hell Pit for the next generation.
The second generation to beat the tower defeated Lucifer and the third generation destroyed the crown because it held so much dark power and corrupted the first nine floors of the tower. This was the domain of Lucifer until his demise and even after his death, the floors remained corrupted.
One of the Heroes from the fourth generation to beat the tower made a mask out of the shattered fragments of the crown. He also ruled Hell Pit, using the mask and becoming the second boss to rule the dark floors. He was later killed by the sixth generation of Heroes. It was their generation that sealed the mask in the vault of the Nightmare Castle where, even in its inactive state, created more monsters inside the castle.
Kian had scanned through all the records and wasn't surprised when he read the Soul of the Heroes that the crown and mask coincidentally belonged to.
"Lucifer, Hero of Ophiuchus and Damnatio, Hero of Ophiuchus," Kian sighed at himself. He should have known that the previous heroes to wield the Serpent Bearer's Soul did something to upset the soul. It wasn't even once that it happened, but two times.
It wouldn't also make sense if Ophiuchus wasn't responding to Kian just because Serpens existed. Sagittarius was active for its Hero even when there was Betty, the Hero of Sagitta the Arrow. An arrow is one of an archer's weapons and if she was alive, then why did Sagittarius become active?
With a sigh, Kian ran around the halls to find the vault. He needed to find the mask and catch up with the rest of the group. They were already on the second region of the tower, the Mortal Paradise. If this suggests anything, it's that the mortals lived in this region and it would probably be a more friendly region than Hell Pit.
If the map he was following was right, then the vault would be at the top of the tower where the throne room was. The mask was hidden under the throne where Damnatio's skeleton still sat. He was killed and placed in his throne, acting as the guardian of his mask which the Heroes placed under him.
"There is a chance that I could get corrupted and become the next ruler of Hell Pit," Kian said to himself. He clenched his fists and shook his head. "But if I have to overpower the mask and use it before it can corrupt me then I will become the most powerful Hero in my generation."
For Kian, beating the tower wasn't the only thing that would give him happiness. It was also to kill the ones that wronged him. From what he could make out of the situation, the other Heroes planned for him to stay inside the Nightmare Castle.
He was betrayed by even the person who saved him a thousand times before. His own blood. If he could exact his revenge on them, then he will beat the tower with a wide grin on his face. The mask was owned by the most powerful person in each generation, their power must be overwhelming.
"Joseph, Mira, Brent," Kian took a deep breath. "Eleven thirty."
The man arrived at the throne room, avoiding all dangerous creatures he saw on the way. It was not time to fight right now because he was still too weak. He could barely kill a dog in his current state, let alone large creatures with powerful attacks.
As he walked for several more minutes, Kian had found the corner that lead to the room. He hurried there while there wasn't any creatures around.
The entrance to the throne room were too gigantic wooden doors. Kian gulped as he slowly pushed the doors. The rustic nails of the doors groaned as Kian opened it. He got inside and closed them immediately. If there wasn't any beast inside, then the throne room would be safe.
He inspected the perimeter for a few seconds before he decided that it was safe. When it was clear, the man walked up to the throne where he saw a skeleton sitting on it. The throne was golden and had red silk fabrics for its cushion. Kian stood in front of it, pursing his lips and thinking how to remove the skeleton.
The white skeleton of Damnatio was filled with runes. It was obvious that these runes meant that the skeleton had magic embedded on it. If Kian hastily takes it off, then he might trigger a reaction that could kill him.
Instead, the boy walked up to the throne and bowed. He then chanted something that he saw on the blacksmith studio, making Damnatio's body light up with the color dark purple. Kian was amazed after seeing all of the records in the studio. Each of them were accurate and it was quite efficient for him.
It was like the mask wanted for Kian to take him and become its new owner. There were many clues that Kian used in the blacksmith studio but these clues looked like they were placed there intentionally. Intentionally for him.
Kian took a deep breath and took the skeleton away from the throne. Even he was shocked by this reaction when the bones of the skeleton glowed with a bright yellow color. Kian used this to gently take the skeleton away. He placed Damnatio to the side while he pushed the throne away.
Under the throne was a secret latch that opened to a room. He doesn't know anything about what else happened during the events that weren't mentioned in the records, so he doesn't know what he could expect from taking the mask.
"But I'm already here," Kian gulped and pushed the throne to run away right after. "Might as well sack this mask."
Before he could even take the mask, the ground shook. He watched Damnatio's skeleton move and stood. It wiggled for a few seconds before it took the mask and wore it.
"Oh, shit," Kian cursed.
