Vale was being chased by a fully armored puppet knight. He was cornered, but then he had an idea to connect the scattered wooden puppet limbs and replace the damaged parts of his body.
The sound of clashing metal echoed through the hallway. Undeniably, the full armor knight chasing him was putting pressure on Vale. In his current state, his chances of defeating the knight were very slim. Moreover, he couldn't keep running forever, as the full armor knight was closing in on him.
"What should I do?" murmured Vale.
He began to remember what he was unable to use right now. Firstly, he couldn't use magic, as the puppet's body had no mana pool. Secondly, because his body was now a puppet, his physical abilities had decreased, and not only that, this puppet body was extremely fragile. Therefore, it was difficult for Vale to defeat the full armor knight with just his current body.
"I feel like I'm forgetting something." Vale furrowed his brow, feeling like he had forgotten an important clue.
But as he was deep in thought, the full armor knight was already behind him. The puppet knight grabbed the great sword on it back and swung the broad part of the sword at Vale's body. Suddenly, Vale, whose mind was preoccupied, was thrown back and hit the wall.
He didn't feel any pain, but Vale could feel that some parts of his puppet body were damaged. It was all due to his carelessness. However, Vale didn't regret it because he managed to get an idea. How do these puppets move in the labyrinth? Is there a special thread? Of course not, even if there was a magic thread, Brenda should be able to feel it.
"There's something that can connect these puppets and control them," muttered Vale.
"There's something that can connect these puppets and control them," muttered Vale.
Vale quickly rolled to the left, and a large sword immediately pierced where Vale had been lying before.
In this hallway, there were several puppet bodies lying around. Given that this dimension fragment had been used as a test site for many years, it was not surprising that previous generations of students had been trapped here. They might try to find a way out, only to die at the hands of the full armor knight.
All of this could be seen from the traces of destruction on these puppets. That was why Vale and the others didn't hesitate to run away as fast as they could, knowing that the full armor knight had killed many puppets that held the souls of Midvalley Academy students.
Vale leapt towards one of the puppets lying in the hallway. He pulled off the left arm of the puppet and connected it to his own severed left arm, which had been cut off by the full armor knight a few moments ago.
"The concept of a wooden puppet body is so foreign that I forgot some things. I hope this works."
Vale tried to move the newly attached left arm, and it worked. Vale didn't waste any time. He immediately thought of fighting the full armor knight with all he had, especially since there were enough spare parts here. Then he dodged the full armor knight's attack and punched the puppet knight.
The full armor knight moved the blunt part of his large sword again.
Crack!
This time, the puppet knight shattered Vale's right hand. The young man quickly ran to retrieve a new right hand before attacking the puppet knight once again. This time, Vale struck at the left arm's base. He slipped behind the knight and landed a strong blow on the area. The strike had a significant impact on the base of the knight's left arm, but it was not enough to detach the arm completely.
The puppet knight turned around and kicked Vale, causing him to fall backward. The full armor knight then jumped and raised its great sword high in the air, intending to cleave Vale in two.
Vale shifted his body and once again sacrificed his left hand. He then retrieved a new left hand and reattached it. For the umpteenth time, Vale struck at the base of the puppet knight's left arm. This time, his blow successfully severed the left arm completely.
The knight attacked Vale with its great sword, which it now held with one hand. However, the puppet knight attack power, balance, and other aspects had decreased, making it easier for Vale to evade the puppet knight attacks. Vale also struck at the base of the knight's right arm several times until it was detached as well.
"Well done, now it's time to finish you," Vale said as he grasped the puppet knight's great sword. He then ran forward while dragging the massive sword behind him. The fully armored knight tried to fight back, but it was in vain. Vale then lifted his sword and cleaved the knight in two.
"Phew, it's finally over," Vale said, breathing a sigh of relief.
Thereafter, he crouched down, took the remaining intact pieces of armor, and put them on. Inside the puppet knight was an ordinary wooden puppet. However, Vale's attention was drawn to a small glass ball attached to the wooden puppet's chest. He then took it.
"If my idea is correct, then I should be able to use magic by using the mana in this glass ball," Vale murmured.
As luck would have it, at that moment, Vale heard a cry from the end of the hallway. He turned to the source of the sound and squinted his eyes, trying to identify the person screaming.
"Brenda?" Vale recognized that the voice belonged to Brenda, who was being chased by another fully armored puppet knight.
"Now is the time to try this glass ball," Vale said, tightly gripping the small glass ball in his left hand and directing his right hand toward the fully armored puppet knight who was chasing Brenda. He closed his eyes and began using the Ice Heart meditation technique to control the mana in the glass ball.
At first, he felt a thin barrier on the glass ball. He continued to explore the surface of the glass ball and found a kind of rune that functioned as an entrance and exit for the mana inside the glass ball.
He opened the rune and then guided the mana inside the glass ball out slowly. Furthermore, he gradually controlled it.
"—Lightning Spear."
After Vale finished cast his magic technique, a magic circle appeared in front of his right hand. The circle moved backwards and created a 2-meter-long lightning spear. He grabbed the spear and threw it with all his might.
The lightning spear flew at a high speed and pierced through the head of the puppet knight, before exploding and scattering in all directions. The lightning spread out and burned up the puppet knight.
"Are you alright, Brenda?" Vale asked.
Brenda nodded and replied, "Thank you. You've saved me twice."
"Don't worry about it, you've also helped me several times," Vale said with a reassuring smile.
Vale then walked towards the full armor knight and took a small glass ball from the wooden puppet's chest.
"Do you still have the small glass ball you had before?" Vale asked.
Brenda nodded, "Yes, I still have it. But now it's no longer glowing. The mana inside the ball must have been used up."
Upon hearing this, Vale immediately threw a new small glass ball to Brenda, which she caught swiftly. "You can use magic techniques by using the mana in that small glass ball, so keep it," Vale said.
Brenda nodded in agreement, and with the battle won, they continued on their journey.
