Frida sat on the ground and leaned her body against a humongous rock behind her. She was breathing rapidly, and sweat mixed with blood was wetting her clothes. Several injuries were still bleeding.
"I lost," she whispered.
The wyvern had high durability and could regenerate on the battlefield, which made it difficult for Frida to defeat. The longer they fought, the more challenging it became for Frida to overcome the wyvern's regeneration ability. Fortunately, she was able to escape.
As a result, all the injuries on her body were massive, and she needed to rest for an entire day or even more before fully recovering. The worst part was that any student participating in the annual test could kill her in her current condition.
"I sensed someone when I was fighting against the wyvern. Does someone have found me? I need to leave this place. But, how?" Frida was confused about how to leave her location, as she had no energy to walk away.
The leaves shook, and a strong wind blew through the surrounding forest. Frida turned her head and saw four figures approaching her from afar. She took a scroll out of her pouch and hid it in her robe.
Holman opened his hands widely and said, "Hi Frida, my beloved friend. You look like you have been struggling. Do you need our help?"
Frida frowned as she sensed that the four students in front of her were not there to help her. She looked at Laura, one of her closest friends, and asked, "What are you doing here?"
Laura turned her head away; she wanted to avoid seeing Frida.
Holman said, "Frida, you have such high talent, unfortunately you were born in the royal family. Once in the past, the Windeast Kingdom became a great kingdom under the royal family. But they were too arrogant at that time and thought they could do everything they wanted. So, the people from the continent came and destroyed the kingdom because the royal family was provoking them many times."
"What do you want to say? I know about this history, but it is not relevant to our kingdom's current situation," Frida spoke.
"Not relevant? Hahaha, didn't your parents tell you about the curse? The people from the continent cursed your entire family. Once someone from the royal family reaches the supreme magus level, a horrible disaster will destroy the Windeast Kingdom once again." Holman's index finger pointed to Frida as he laughed like a maniac.
Frida widened her eyes in shock at Holman's words. She had no idea that the royal family was cursed by the people from the continent. She breathed slowly and looked at Holman and Laura again. Furthermore, she already knew what those four students were planning to do.
"Even if what you say is true, I cannot let myself die here," Frida forced herself to stand, using the rock behind her as a grip.
"We know what you will do, that's why we're here. Thodebald, Dinodas, you two will attack Frida while I cast my magic technique," Holman instructed.
"Okay, boss."
"Let's do it."
Thodebald, the bald teenager, and Dinodas, the short one, ran towards Frida. The girl drew her sword and pointed it at the two boys approaching her.
Thodebald swung his left hand, intending to punch Frida. He immediately jumped backward when he saw Frida bow and avoid his punch and tried to thrust his stomach. After Thodebald jumped backward, Frida waved the sword at Dinodas.
Trang!
Dinodas held the sword with a knife and pushed it forward, but Frida was stronger. Instead of being pushed, Frida pushed Dinodas back.
"— Dragon Breath!"
Holman, who was already casting the magic technique, spurted fire out of his mouth. The fire aimed towards Frida quickly, and she had no time to evade it. She crossed her hands in front of her face, trying to defend her head.
Frida had given up on avoiding the magic technique. A few seconds had passed, but she didn't feel the heat of the fire from Holman's dragon breath. She slowly opened her eyes and saw the woods forming a hemisphere that protected her from the fire.
Meanwhile, when the flames dissipated, Holman, who thought Frida had been roasted to death, was surprised when he saw that she was still alive. He then saw the woods that created the hemisphere slowly disappearing around Frida. He knew that it was one of the magic techniques that could be learned in the library, the hemisphere woods barrier.
Standing on a tree branch, Vale raised his hand and whispered, "The flash of light, the hum of the storm, piercing endlessly, lightning spear!"
A spear of lightning crackled in Vale's right hand. The bright purple shaft was surrounded by flashes of electricity that constantly popped and sparked.
Gathering all his strength, Vale hurled the lightning spear with great force towards Holman, who was caught off guard and did not have time to evade it.
"Now that the most dangerous one among them is dead, it will be easier for me to defeat the rest," Vale thought to himself. However, his triumph was short-lived as he realized that the spear had missed Holman and pierced Thodebald instead. The bald teenager lay on the ground, blood pouring from the wound in his chest.
Holman glanced at Thodebald's lifeless body without the slightest expression of sympathy on his face. He then turned his attention to Vale, the mysterious student who had interfered with their mission.
"I don't know who you are, but you have made a big mistake by interfering with us. You will regret it for the rest of your life," Holman threatened.
Vale sighed, realizing that he had already used spider dance twice without taking a break. He quickly conjured a hemisphere woods barrier to protect Frida and used his remaining strength to cast a lightning spear to try to kill Holman. However, he knew that he could only cast eight more level 0 magic techniques before completely collapsing from exhaustion.
