Chapter 1 - Mother's Warmth

'So this is what true pathetic-ness truly is, a state in which one even values their own life as worthless!' Danielle said to herself as she watched cars streak past her one after another. She was standing on a curb, thinking about her entire life.

To say it has been pathetic would be doing it justice. It was filled with depressing moments one after another. First, her father left her and her mother when she was five. Due to this, her mother became an alcoholic which graduated into full narcotics usage. She herself was not faring any better, with her mother off the shelf, she had to look after herself.

She started working when she was five, an age where one was supposed to be full of laughter and giggles. Due to this, her mentality grew to a point where she became antisocial. She started by delivering newspapers, starting from three in the morning. After that, she had to be in school by eight then at four in the evening she had another job in a store as the cashier till eight at night.

Due to this, her grades never rose past C and she was kinda glad due to it. She barely had enough time to study and she was tired almost always. When she entered highschool, her mother introduced her to a drug pusher as a mule so that she could get a huge discount in her drugs. This was one of the situations where no was not an answer and so, she pushed drugs all over town.

Due to her skinny body, gender and a baby face, she was apparently a good mule for the cops only glaced at her once. Due to this, she ended up becoming the best drug mule there was and the running had given her so much cardio she became the best sprinter in school. An attempt to sign into the athletics team was thwarted by her mother who refused to sign the paper and threatened her with a beatdown from her boyfriend.

This made him snap; all the years of putting her first only to be neglected when she needed her to boost her life had finally broke her. She beat her to death with a rolling pin, cut up her body, put it in rubbish bags and threw them to the bottom of a river.

Due to this, she had found herself daring, going as far as officially entering the neighborhood gang. Her initiation was to beat up and hold down a high school girl for a gang rape and she passed with flying colors. However, it appeared the girl had a cousin in the military and he started killing off the members of the gang in revenge, almost making her believe she was a character in a movie story.

However, his vigilante mission ended when he was arrested an incarcerated for multiple murders, much to her relief. Things were going on great for two years until their gang leader killed a Fed! She almost ran away from the city when he heard this. As the youngest member, she was ordered to take the fall for him or she would be executed, she agreed with reluctance. She knew what life in prison awaited her and she was afraid. Looking back at her life decisions, she realized one thing, she was weak, pathetically weak!

PEEEEEE!

The roaring sound of a truck's horn brought her out of his stupor, making her look at the oncoming trailer truck. The driver was drinking an energy drink, probably to make him stay more alert. Looking at the speed it was traveling with, she guessed it was doing 70mhr.

'At that speed, I should not feel pain at all,' she thought to himself as she waited. When the truck was way past the braking distance, she smiled at herself sadly before taking a step forward.

'This is the most power I have ever had in my life, the power to choose how I die,' she thought to herself with a self loathing smile on her face.

SCRRRREEEEECH!

BAAAAAAAANG!

The tires of the truck screeched as the driver tried to stop the truck but it was no use. At fifty miles an hour, the truck hit him so hard she almost burst open. Her body was sent flying forward, broken and bent unnaturally. Strangely, she did not feel any pain, she felt like...spring!

'Is this what death is like? To feel so good at such a tragedy...Is this supposed to happen?' she asked herself while still flying before she landed on the road with a splat. She could feel darkness enveloping her, like a mother welcoming her child home.

She missed that feeling! The feeling of been hugged by her mother, a loved one. The feeling of safety within her arms. Feeling like you could just sleep due to the comfort. She utterly missed that. Tears flowed down her eyes, streamed down her cheeks as she embraced the darkness back. No more struggling. No more stealing. No more suicide missions! No more...No more feeling pathetic. This is what it feels like...content!

'What do you truly want?' a voice asked him inside his head.

'True, unlimitless power!' she answered without missing a beat.

'You embraced me lovingly, a feeling I have not felt in eons, due to your love, I am willing to give you a test. I will give you all the most powerful gift in existence, enjoy it to your fullest. Then we shall see if you will still embrace me like you just did!' the voice said back.

Before she could comprehend what the voice just said, she opened her eyes, gasping for air. She continued to breath in hard as she tried to comprehend what just happened. She remembered dying or rather on the verge of dying. That comfortable feeling, that warmth...she wanted to feel it again. She needed to feel it again!

"No, please, take me back! I don't want to feel anything but that! Please!" she cried out in distress as she lifted her hands, bloody hands, towards the strangely red sky.

"Never realized you mercenaries are such perverts to pain," a deep voice brought him back to her senses, making her turn to where the person just spoke from. She saw a giant of a man wearing a golden like knight armor, carrying a broadsword easily with one arm, grinning ferociously towards him. "I will enjoy killing you." He dashed towards her, a manic like smile on his face but Danielle realized something, it was like he had suddenly started moving in slow motion.

"What the fuck!" she exclaimed.
