Chapter 9: Do you think I am a threat?
Pru's POV
"I don't know. His fingers are twitching and he looks pissed off" I analyzed.
Zuri cleared his throat and keep talking.
"Moving on, my father was…a lot of things to a lot of people. He was king…he was a philanthropist…he was…he was..."
I watched as Zuri stopped talking. He simply stared right ahead into the cameras like he was blank.
Ten seconds and counting and everyone was beginning to murmur in low voices. He blinked occasionally but he didn't do anything else.
He looked nothing like the scary mean man that won't take the white knight as a threat. If not, he looked like a scared little child thrown into deep ends without help.
Next thing I knew Emily was walking to the podium.
When she was close enough, she went to stand beside her brother, she had to physically nudge him out of the way.
He stood beside her and he made no attempt to stop her whatsoever.
The mics were too high and just like magic someone came to adjust it.
"Hello…my name is Emily…"
**
Zuri's POV.
Few hours ago I froze on the podium and my half sister Emily had to come to my rescue (not that I asked her to) but it was only right that I show my gratitude no matter how ungrateful I was actually feeling right now.
As I made my way to my sister's room, I happened to stumble on Pru's half ajar door.
Pru was standing in front of the full length mirror that was on top of a golden stand. She was stark naked except for the yellow panties and bra. Beads of water dripped from her strawberry blonde hair down to her shoulders.
For some reason, I didn't go on my merry way. I simply stood there and I watched as she pushed a few rogue strands of hair behind her ears and wiped the bead of water that was about to enter her eyes.
The other beads of water, Pru allowed to fall freely all over her body.
She ran her index finger on the scar just above her hair line. The scar was almost fading.
Pru blinked and looked away from the mirror. She opened the wooden wardrobe and took out a navy blue towel that was folded among other piles of towers on the lower right side of the wardrobe. I think she has a thing for towels since she had about twenty of them.
Pru went back to stand in front of the mirror. This time she wrapped the towel on her head enclosing the strawberry blonde hair.
I watched through the giant mirror, I could see what she was seeing. She looked closely in the mirror and a pair of green eyes attached to an oval face stared back at her.
The oval face had a perfectly fitted small lip. Pru was tall with a slender athletic body.
With the towel on her head removed, the strawberry blonde hair fell to her back with some strands of hair covering her left eye.
I decided to make my presence known instead of standing there like a pervert.
I thought that a knock on her door would get Pru scrambling for the light blue spaghetti strap top and short pants on her bed but she didn't. She simply turned around as I walked in.
"I don't remember asking you to come in" Pru said, hand akimbo at the sight of me.
I looked nonchalant.
Pru's room was the smallest room I have ever seen in the palace. She had the room painted burnt orange with a touch of cream color. The light green curtains had golden strips and flowering design. The king sized bed had a matching color with the wall. A burnt color bedspread with just a little touch of golden thread carefully knitted, spelling the word 'P.O.W.E.R'
"Will you make yourself decent, please?" I told her in a low voice.
"Hmm, did you get tired of watching me like a creep, your majesty?" She asked and opened her wardrobe to pick out an awful brown dress and pulled over her head.
"Sorry" I murmured.
"I didn't know you were back from the convention" Pru said
"I came back a few minutes ago, weren't you a brunette the last time I saw you or were my eyes playing tricks on me?'
I stared at Pru's hair. Without giving her a notice, I ran my hand through her hair. Pru was taken aback and she removed my hand from her hair. She took the towel and wrapped it around her head.
"Some crazy person glued my hair yesterday and I had to wash the dye off a few minutes ago. If you haven't noticed I stand out like a sore thumb when i am a blonde and so I dyed it'
"Dying such beautiful hair almost seems criminal. Blonde looks good on you, don't dye it anymore" I surprised myself by saying and looked around the room before looking at Pru.
Pru looked astonished.
"What?" I asked her
"I don't know whether I should be happy that you love my natural strawberry blonde hair or to be mad that you are giving unsolicited advice to me, King Zuri?"
"Do you have to choose?" I asked her with a playful demeanor as I made myself comfortable on her bed.
"Gee, please sit on my bed. It's very appropriate" Pru said sarcastically and I ignored her because I felt right at home on her soft bed.
Then Pru surprised me by sitting on the bed next to me.
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.
"You must be tired"
"What makes you qualified to make that assumption, Diplomat?"
"Because you look tired and even though you are trying to handle it, you are failing at it because you are still exhausted. Your eyes are closed. Your chest rises and falls softly as you breathe. The white long sleeve shirt with golden stripes cufflinks you are wearing is improperly placed, the first two buttons on your shirt are unbuttoned…."
I didn't wait for her to finish her analysis before I spoke.
"Do you always think about four to five things at once?"
"It's my job to analyze the threat level and make a split second decision to protect the princess"
"Do you think I am a threat?" I asked her.
