Chapter 23 - Forest

Deep in the forest, within a hill covered with a thick layer of greenery, layed a cave that had a life of it's own.

In the middle of it, an empty throne sat there glowing with a faint white light, the ceiling of the cave and the wall peppered with shimmering crystals that made the cave look like a starry summer night.

Next to the throne a man was leaning against it, with his head resting on it, his hand resting on his bent knees, staring at the ceiling of the cave.

Letting out a heavy sigh, he clicked his toungue and got up from his spot on the floor and walked around stopping in front of the throne to look at it.

" Your time has finally come my queen" he said to no one in particular while looking at the empty throne.

Kneeling in front of the empty throne, his head bowed touching the cave floor.

" I pledge my liegnce to you my queen, to protect you with my life!" he made his promise to the empty throne in front of him with outmost respect and dedication.

Getting up from the floor, making his way around the throne, he slowly started drawing the patern of a star on the floor with a circle on top of it with a double helix running in a full circle in the middle.

Once he was done drawing the pattern, he stepped outside the circle and stared at it, his amber eyes glowing through the strands of his red hair resting on his forehead.

" It is time to take your rightful place my queen, I've been waiting for thousands of years for you to finally come!" he mumured in grave voice letting out a heavy sigh as if he was carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders.

Turning around, he made his way to the cave walls and plopped himself on the floor, leaning against the cave wall with his eyes pined on the drawing on the floor waiting for something to happen.

He stayed there unmoving, day turned into night and the cycle repeated countless times until one day, the pattern on the floor finally glowed in a bright white light enveloping the cave in it.

His face lit up at the sight of the pattern glowing and finally stood up from his spot on the floor walking towards it, looking at it with an unwavering gaze as if he was trying to find something within the pattern.

Walking around and studying the pattern making sure not to step on it, he suddenly stopped at one of stars tips an looked where it was pointing.

" Hmmm...you're closer than I thought you would be!" he mused to himself, intently staring at the cave wall that the tip of the star was pointing towards.

Bending down to the floor, placing his hands flat on the ground on spot that glowed brighter than the other ones, he closed his eyes and took a deep breath in.

Under the touch of his hands the light slowly started moving up and enveloping him in it, opening his eyes, that were now shining with the same bright white light, he stayed there in trance for a while, when all of the sudden he gasped and fell on the floor lifeless.

Grumbling in pain, lifting himself from the floor resting on his elbows, he stared at the pattern on the floor, looking confused and worried.

"How is that even possible?" he questioned to himself frowning, his lips set in thin line.

Pulling himself up from the floor, he started pacing around up and down the cave with his hands behind his back, deep in thought.

Something or someone has disturbed the natural course of events but who or what?

Another bright light lit up the cave snapping the man from his daze, bringing his attention to the spot where the light was coming from.

Slowly the light faded and another throne came into view next to the existing one.

The man froze on the spot and his eyes widened in shock at the sight in front him.

Sighing heavily, his shoulders and head dropped in resignation not knowing what to make of it.

The things that he saw in his vision while he was looking for his queen didn't make sense either.

He would've left the cave but he had been bound to it for thousands of years waiting for her to finally awaken and set her people free.

" Now what?" he possed the question to himself angry at his failure to understand what was happening.

Staring at the empty throne frowning, he puffed his cheeks in frustration and kicked the dust of the cave floor.

" Damn it!" he screamed letting out his anger, his voice echoing in the cave several times.

He slumped on the floor panting, closing his eyes, he took a deep breath and sat on the floor, lost in his thoughts.

Suddenly his eyes snapped opened, he fixed his gaze on the two thrones, a smile slowly creeping on his face, as if he had found a solution to his problem.
