Maven and I traveled on the dirt path created by years of carriages carrying supplies and goods to and from the kingdoms. I held my hat on top of my head to keep the sun from burning my skin as the wind blew around me. Maven trailed behind me as he dragged his feet through the dirt, kicking it around him.
"Did we really need to walk all the way to the kingdom? Wouldn't a carriage take us less time to get there?" Maven asked.
I shrugged, "Maybe I just didn't want to be in the stuffy carriage again."
The real reason was that I was afraid of what I would find when I got there. Would I be able to break Dahlia's curse? What would happen after? These questions flooded my mind, making me anxious to find the answers.
I took a breath, "If we continue at this pace, we'll be there in a little more than a day."
"In a carriage, we would have been there before night." Maven retaliated.
