We sat and ate the assortment of sweets that had been brought to us by a handful of maids. A few moments later, the tea was brought out and we sipped on the tea. We didn't say much other than our compliments about the food and beverages. I didn't know what to say to the king so I said nothing.
After we finished, he walked me to the front gates and asked, "I had a very good time with you, Odette. Would you like to have another date?"
I was surprised he wanted to spend more time together since the date hadn't gone terribly, but I wouldn't call this a successful romantic date. However, I thought about my family and selfishly agreed.
He smiled, "I'm glad. Would the same time and day next week be okay?"
I nodded. His smile was very beautiful, but I didn't feel any tingling in my heart for him. It was in that moment I knew I would never come to have romantic feelings for this man.
