We sat in silence as Lou left the room. I thought about what he said: a crown around her neck like a collar. He and I knew what that really meant for us.
I pushed the food away and left the table. Alastair was about to stand with me, but I motioned for him to sit back down.
"I just want to talk to him alone for a moment," I said and walked out the door. I felt Alastair's gaze on me until I left the room.
I didn't need to go far as I found Lou leaning against the wall with his eyes closed.
"What I said yesterday, I didn't mean to say it how I did." He said.
I sighed, "I was born into a world carrying a burden and making choices I have never even had a say in. Born to protect, destined to rule. That's what my sister had said once before."
Lou opened his eyes and laughed, "I'd believe it. She saw a world of change."
"A world of change…yeah…" I trailed off.
Lou looked into my eyes before nodding to the hallway.
