Chapter 8 - Cries of a child

Since I was in elementary I've always joined Hip hop competitions in my school even until college.

There was even one time where we got 1st place in a Regional Hip hop Dance Competition. If we were the champion at that time, we could have participated in a National level competition, but sadly we didn't.

"A hipa— what My Lady?"

"Hip hop."

"Hip hop? What is that My Lady?" I guess in this story's setting hip hop was not yet created which means I could introduce it, and I could be the creator of it.

Isn't that an excellent idea?

"It's another form of a dance that combines a variety of free style movements, mostly aggressive and popping dance styles." I simply explained.

"Oh that sounds interesting. Maybe you'd be really accepted My Lady." She clapped her hands, seemingly interested in my talent.

"Well aside from that I have skills in playing a guitar and a ukulele. I'm also good at cooking... you already know that." The porridge was made by me these last few weeks, and Penny was astonished at how delicious it turned out.

"My Lady, aren't those instruments used by men mostly?"

"Huh? They are? Then what instruments are used by women?" I didn't know about this.

Anyone can play any type of instrument in my world.

But I guess they are more strict when it comes to the barrier between men and women here.

"Vielle, harp, flute and piano My Lady."

"Then that would be better, I'll be the first woman to play the guitar and ukulele then."

"You're not the first one My Lady. Some women has already played that but they aren't praised as much as women who played the instruments for women." Oh yes, I forgot she mentioned it was just mostly used.

"Maybe they aren't as talented as me."

"But I had no idea you were so talented in so many different areas Lady Eli. Are you enrolled in any classes that I may not be aware of?"

"Perhaps?" I simply answered back.

I know damn well the real Elivette is a talentless girl who only focuses on her physical beauty and disregarded her classes.

"That's good to hear My Lady. Maybe this time people will really hire you for your talents."

They better be.

Now that I'm starting to know what path I should take on and what I should do, I'm starting to feel that this isn't that bad at all. I'll just treat it as if I was on vacation. The only problem was, I never got to enjoy it and I barely ate anything good.

Another thing I'm worrying about is if I stayed in this world for a month was I missing in my world for a month also? Or is there any conversion thing happening? Like maybe a month here is a day equivalent in my world. I can't really base it on Caelestis' story because we came from different worlds, hers is still a fiction one.

I don't know how my Aunt and cousins are doing, or what happened to my studies.

Were they trying to find me and was I suspended already?

I have a lot of explaining to do when I go back to my world, and just thinking about it makes my head hurt.

Who the hell would believe me that I entered a novel's world?

That doesn't sound plausible at all.

Maybe they'd even think that I was on crack or I'm sick in the head.

"How about you sleep on my leg My Lady? Since we'll be arriving in the city the next night, it's wise to get some rest now."

I looked at our carriage and there was no other way to lay on the chair other than to put my head on her leg.

"I'm not sleepy as of the moment." She nodded and went back to closing her eyes.

The road is made of dirt now, it is night, and we're in the middle of the forest. We've been traveling for almost 18 hours.

My back, neck, and legs are stiff.

I don't think I'd be able to sleep with my body's condition.

Suddenly, I heard a faint cry.

"Do you hear that?" I asked.

"Do not mind those sounds My Lady." Penny mumbled.

I perked up my ears and I heard it again.

"Mommy... please help me." It said in a faint and crying tone.

"I'm hungry..." Another one said.

My heart jumped when I realized it was a child's voice.

"I wanna go home...."

I poked Penny, "Penny, I think there are children in this forest. I can hear their cry." I roamed my eyes at the dim light surrounding and all I could see are trees.

How come some child will be lost in here?

It will be perilous for them.

"Do follow your servants words, Madam. Those are just cries of Aulops."

My ears picked up at what the driver of the carriage said.

"Aulops?"

I've never heard of Aulops.

What the hell is that?

He looked back at me and stared at my face.

"You don't know about Aulops?"

"Would I be asking if I know about it?"

"...They are creatures in the shape of a fox, with no eyes and they can imitate and create voices that they use to lure victims and devour them once they go out from the protection of the path."

My hand's held on the carriage tightened with his explanation.

How come this wasn't mentioned in the book?

Although Celaestis barely goes on adventure, some creatures were explained in the book, especially if they are a threat to humans.

"What do you mean by the protection of the path, isn't it supposed to be protection of forest?" I've never heard of that, but I do know that Numens, the term they call people who have such deity powers, protects forest that are mainly used by people in transportation from creatures.

"This path we're taking right now is protected by a Numen's power. The Numen's used to protect this whole forest but with the death of thirteen Numens these past few months, it greatly weakened their capability. Not only that, but after the first death of the Numen, new creatures started to appear, such as this Aulops."

A Numen who has deity powers, and were considered as protectors of lands, died?

How did that happen?

This was not mentioned in the book.

What the hell is happening now after the novel has ended?
