Because of Mio's acting, she was also forced to act as her little sister, so instead of saying her real surname, she said Nanase instead. Though in reality, she doesn't mind it since it was just little, it wouldn't change her life that much since it was just lying about her family name, plus no one would truly know about it because all of the records that are written about her Mother has already disappeared. So no one would know that they lied about their relationship.
"Oh, so you're name is Somi. That is such a nice name. You're also very cute and beautiful." Xian'er smiled while she began to eat her own food, although she felt that Somi was quite cold, it didn't bother her. From the explanation of her Teacher, it seemed that her little sister had suffered a lot while growing up, so for her it was just a natural reaction for her to be like that. She knows what it is like to be discriminated against and bullied by other people, it was a horrible feeling that made her detach herself from others, but because of a certain someone, she managed to come out of her shell and began to communicate with others normally again.
So she also knows that Somi just needs to find that person whom she would be comfortable with and can really open up, it doesn't matter if they are family members or not, as long as she knows that he/she is a person that she can trust, everything would go naturally for her.
But even after being complimented, Somi didn't react to it, to which Xian'er thought that she was already so used to being complimented that it didn't matter to her, but it was quite the opposite. Somi was not used to such compliments because she was always isolated by everyone and if there were people who would give her compliments, it would be her two parents.
"Your name is Somi, right? Do you mind if I call you by your first name?" Lucy who was listening to their entire conversation couldn't help but to also join in, she was also rather curious about Somi because she could feel that she was not a normal person. For her age, she seemed like she was an adult because of the aura that she was releasing. When she saw Somi nodding her head at her question, she instantly got happy and began talking to Somi.
This naturally caught their attention of Irene because she would have never thought that the shy Lucy would actually come out and strike up a conversation with someone she had only met. It was weird but looking at it, she also knew the reason why, Somi was different from other kids.
"Ms. Mio, do you mind if I ask you something?" Irene lowered her voice a little but it was still enough to catch the attention of everyone because of their strong hearing, even Somi heard it, so naturally she was curious because she felt like what Irene wanted to ask Mio was something related to her.
"Just ask away." Even though she has clearly told them that they could just call her by her name, it seems that they still don't want to do it that recklessly. They still have some respect for her as an older person which Mio couldn't really do anything about because she might be asking too much if she asked them to call her by just her name.
"I was just wondering, what kind of powers does Somi have? Because at age five people would already get their powers by that time, I was just wondering because you two came from the same family, so I was curious to know what kind of talent she is." The casual smile on Mio's face vanishes as she didn't expect them to already ask something about this, never would she have thought about it.
"Well, forgive me for my past words, but I don't think I can answer your question." Mio apologized as she took a serious look on her face which quickly shifted everyone because it seemed that topic was very sensitive in their Family, so Irene just shuts up and ate her food in silence.
As for Somi, she did feel a little sad about it, but there was nothing that she could do about it. Yuki didn't really restrict her from saying anything about her, even if she were to tell them that she have no powers, her Mother doesn't mind it because there have already been cases of people not having Systems, very rare though. There were only a handful of people who didn't have them.
In the end, everyone finished their food in silence except for Xian'er who was still trying to make a conversation with Somi even after the end to which Mio didn't mind because it was actually a good thing. There would be more people who Somi would be able to talk to in the future.
Xian'er was even so persistent that Somi was forced to call her big sister already, never in her life would she think that there would be someone who was persistent as Xian'er was. She was trying too hard to make Somi call her big sister because of one reason, she had always wanted a little sibling, but never got the chance to have one.
But even though she was annoyed by her, in her heart she felt some happiness that she never felt before in her seven years of life.
"Ms. Mio! Would you like for me to take care of Somi while you go teach? I remember that our first subject is actually yours and you don't have any place where you can put Somi, right? So why don't I take care of her for the time being?" Xian'er immediately asked as soon as they arrived at the academy gate and when Mio looked at Xian'er, her face was clearly telling that she was not hoping for a no.
But when she thought about it, she was right, and out of the four people that she met today, Xian'er was probably the best person to take care of her. She has already made a big impression of Somi because of her unique character that even she was shocked about because she has always seen Xian'er as a shy kid, but it seems that she was wrong about her.
"Alright, fine. But just please, never take your eyes off her. She is very special to me." Mio said as she then looked straight into the eyes of Xian'er before making her swear that she would take care of Somi in the best way that she could.
"Yes, I promise!"
