EPISODE 295; THE MIGRATION TO OLYMPUS PART IV; DEFENDING THE OASIS PART I; AN ANOMALY
Concordia's Kraken Andromeda sailed the Skies in its Seraphim Mode peacefully while Keiran and the Archers and Alchemists monitored the Maps Of The Oases.
"Something's off…but I can't quite pin a finger on what exactly" Keiran seemed uneasy as he monitored the Oases and the Coast.
Concordia sat beside him.
"What is wrong Keiran?" Concordia asked.
"There's something off about the transmissions the birds are sending in. Before yesterday, the birds captured both video and audio transmissions of what was going on at the Coast and Oases but Today it's changed, they are only sending in video transmissions" Keiran informed Concordia.
"Isn't that because the birds are flying too high?" Concordia asked.
"I mean…it's completely silent…and the birds aren't flying in Formation anymore like Migratory Birds do. I'll crosscheck with the Sagittarius System to see what is going on" Keiran informed Concordia and activated the Sagittarius System.
"It is as I suspected" Keiran frowned.
"What is it?" Concordia asked.
"Here, take a look" Keiran said and showed her the Sagittarius System.
It read;
"MIGRATORY BIRDS STATS; BOUND BY SPELL!
SPELL NAME; OVERLAY SUPERIMPOSITION!
SPELL TYPE; SENSORY PERCEPTION ALTERATION SPELL!
CAUTION ADVISED; TRANSMITTED DATA BASED ON DECEPTION!
POSSIBLE REASONS; THE SETTING UP OF AN AMBUSH!"
The Notification read.
"I see, so this is an overlay spell that superimposes an alternate perception of occurrences at the Coast and Oases over the Senses Of The Birds preventing them from viewing the Reality that is actually occurring" Keiran realized.
"It seems to have begun right around the time we began our journey" Concordia noted.
"It's basically a Spell that messes with the Nervous Systems Of The Birds and injects foreign Sensory Input. I suppose it's one of the many Debilitating Sensory Attacks the Weaver Of Calamity has in his Arsenal" Keiran explained.
"But the Birds consumed the Phoenix Tears we fed them. Shouldn't they be immune to such attacks?" Concordia asked.
"I believe the Weaver Of Calamity gambled on the assumption that we'd gotten so used to Phoenix Tears we had become overly reliant on them when he cast this Spell. The Phoenix Tears don't cure absolutely everything. They only cure ailments we have ourselves cured at least once or have taken some measures to mitigate. In that sense their powers are to an extent based on the accumulation of Biochemical Experiences within the body. To some extent, our experiences differ from those of the Birds. Under normal circumstances no one would cast this sort of spell on a Wild Beast. It's the Weaver Of Calamity's Antithesis to our Sagittarius Ability" Keiran explained.
"So this is basically the first time the Birds have been hit with this Debilitating Spell huh?" Concordia realized.
"Exactly. But since we had already cast the Sagittarius System which doesn't cancel out the Birds' free will and instincts we can erase the Weaver Of Calamity's Spell by momentarily altering the Electromagnetic Frequencies around the Birds' Bodies radiated by virtue of their Nervous Systems but monitoring him with the Birds from now on would put the Birds at risk. First, let's see what the anomaly is all about, then we'll order the Birds to move to the Oases" Keiran explained.
"I see. I suppose we should" Concordia agreed.
Keiran transmitted pulses of Electromagnetic Energy via the Sagittarius System into the Birds' Nervous Systems. There was a glitch in the images the Birds were transmitting and then the false images disappeared and were replaced with True Images Of The Coast. At the Coast Keiran and Concordia noticed that the Weaver Of Calamity's Army was fewer in number.
"It seems like they've been deployed to the Oases. The Weaver Of Calamity's Army is probably waiting to ambush us at the Oases" Keiran noted.
"So what do we do? Do we head straight for the Coast or head to the Oases?" Concordia asked.
"I don't like how the Weaver Of Calamity is toying with the people in the Desert" Keiran frowned…and then he smirked.
"Keiran…don't even think about it" Concordia said as she guessed what Keiran seemed to have in mind.
"We're going to rout his Forces at the Oases. Since he is planning to ambush us…we'll let him set up his Forces…and then we'll reverse ambush them!" Keiran said with a sinister laugh as four large and extremely powerful domes appeared over the Four Oases via his Dreamweaving abilities.
A strange mist began to envelop the Oases as well.
