A month passed with me tutoring Ciella in the Elemental Combative Style. She had now mastered the Elements Of Fire, Wind, Earth and Water. Ciella's Combat Abilities had also greatly improved since she kept image training with the videos on Arlene's Christopher while offline. She also sparred with Concordia during free periods in the School's Library. We currently stood in our Training Field in XCalibur AOP 2.
"Excellent, your movements have vastly improved Ciella. You really have been working hard, well done" I congratulated her.
She smiled happily.
"Thanks" she said gratefully.
"It's finally time to graduate to Lightning. Don't worry, now that you've mastered Wind, Lightning Element Techniques shouldn't be too difficult" I said.
Ciella nodded.
"Lightning is an advanced Aerial Technique. In other words, it's an advanced Wind Element Technique. At the same time, it's an advanced Water and Fire Element Technique. For now though, let's stick with Wind and Fire" I explained.
"Okay, what do I need to do?" Ciella asked curiously.
"The first thing you need is 'Insulation' to ensure you don't inadvertently inflict the 'Stun' Stat upon yourself. There's no need to worry about that since you have an affinity for Lightning but since it's a derived affinity instead of a natural one and this is your first time utilizing the element, I'll prioritize your safety. You'll need to generate either a Vacuum or a layer of Earth around your body. A Vacuum is more efficient though" I explained.
"But if I'm going to generate a Vacuum, I'll need to create Aerial Shields around my body" Ciella realized.
"I'm glad you realized that on your own. It means you've been paying attention. Exactly right" I said.
Ciella got to work creating a Vacuum Layer around her body which she'd protected with a layer of air. This Vacuum was a layer completely absent of air.
"Do you recall why the Vacuum Layer is necessary?" I asked Ciella.
"It's because Lightning Activity can only occur within any environment that has an Atmosphere. Isn't that right San?" Ciella asked.
"That's right" I said.
Ciella nodded.
"Now generate fast moving currents of Wind outside the Vacuum. You'll need to heat these currents rapidly with Fire however the proportion of Wind must be significantly greater than that of the Fire" I explained.
Ciella obeyed making the Wind three times as strong as the Fire she generated.
"Do you recall why the Heat is necessary?" I asked her.
"Yes, Ionization occurs as atoms exchange electrons. This is possible when atoms rub against one another. The frequency of the rubbing motion leading to Ionization can be influenced by Heat since atoms move much quicker when heated than when cooled" Ciella explained.
"You really do understand" I said with an impressed look in my eyes.
As Ciella continued to heat the Wind, charges of Lightning were gradually generated.
"In reverse, Frigid Atmospheres are bad climates for generating electricity since the rate of Ionization is slower in Frigid Climates than in Hot Climates" I explained.
"I understand" Ciella said.
By then, Ciella was completely cloaked in Lightning.
"This technique is effective against Close Combat Types and can inflict the 'Stun' Stat upon anyone foolish enough to attack you without adequate insulation. However, this equip also has two natural adversaries. The first are Water Element Users who have the power to interfere with the rate of Ionization. The second are Earth Element Users who are impervious to the 'Stun' Stat inflicted by Lightning as a result of 'Insulation' which is a natural trait of Earth. However with regards to Water Element Users, their ability to interfere with Ionization could also become your greatest advantage since Lightning evolves from flowing unidirectionally to flowing omnidirectionally the moment it makes contact with Water" I explained.
