Arlene's clones scouted the enemy's stronghold.
"Is there any way we can find the exit of this stronghold more quickly and less randomly. You can't keep scouting every single passage" Mitsuki complained.
"There are two ways actually. The first is to locate an underground stream. If there are any streams in this stronghold, they'll most likely be flowing towards the exit so I'm currently prioritizing the discovery of streams within this stronghold" Arlene explained.
"And what's the second way?" Mitsuki asked.
"The second way is to test the direction of the Wind. If this place were completely sealed off from the outside, the air would be stale and would gradually diminish in purity over time. Simply put, we'd eventually suffocate. Since that's not happening, the implication is that fresh air is somehow making its way into this stronghold constantly" Arlene explained.
"But how do we test the direction of the Wind? It's not like we have a Wind Vane to use" Mitsuki asked.
"A flame is the next best thing. Grab one of the torches on the Walls and we'll study the flame. If the air is stale, the flame would stand upright. If there is even the slightest bit of fresh air making it into this stronghold, the flame would bend away from the direction in which the air is flowing from. So all we need to do is follow the entrances the flame bends away from" Arlene explained.
"You're truly an information specialist Arlene" Mitsuki praised.
"Thanks, my Granny always said the truly unbeatable Dream Knight is the one who knows his enemy as well as himself" Arlene said.
Mitsuki removed one of the torches from the Walls and brought it close to Arlene. Arlene walked to each of the entrances leading into the Hall in which they currently stood. When there was no air flowing from a Passage into the Hall they stood in, the flame would stand upright. If on the other hand, there was air flowing into the Hall from a Passage, the flame would bend away from the Passage. Utilizing this method, Arlene could deduce which of the Passages would eventually lead to an exit. Arlene sent more of her clones down that Passage. She instructed them to study the Torches on the Walls in order to deduce from which direction the air from outside was making its way into the enemy's stronghold.
"Now we'll need to mask our scents. I need you all to create fields of Wind around your bodies that keep the air flowing around your bodies trapped within the field. This way, your scents will not escape past the fields" Arlene instructed her clones.
They obeyed.
"Now continue to Scout" Arlene instructed.
Eventually, a number of Arlene's clones discovered Bloodhounds patrolling Passages further ahead.
"Mitsuki, we've discovered some Bloodhounds. If you can trap them within a Soundproof Barrier, that would be good" Arlene said and showed Mitsuki the various locations in the Labyrinth the Bloodhounds were patrolling.
"To do this effectively, I'm going to need to utilize the Sagittarius System's Awakening Functionality. I'll need to use your clones as vessels if you don't mind" Mitsuki explained.
"I don't" Arlene said.
In the next instant, Mitsuki was seeing through the eyes of Arlene's clones. Arlene's clones raised their hands as Mitsuki did in her location where she was with the real Arlene.
"TORRENTIAL PUSH OF THE MOON'S GRAVITATIONAL FORCE!" Mitsuki and Arlene's clones called together as fields of torrential gravitational force weighed the Bloodhounds to the ground clamping their jaws tightly shut in the process.
Mitsuki through Arlene's clones entombed the Bloodhounds in thick barriers of Earth preventing their howls from making it past the barriers they were entombed in. Through this method, Arlene and Mitsuki could navigate past the Bloodhounds while repeatedly incapacitating any more Bloodhounds they came across. This prevented the Bloodhounds from raising an alert allowing Arlene and Mitsuki to sneak all the way to the exit of the Labyrinth while navigating past the Omnicron, Wraiths and Giga-Wraiths stealthily.
"Congratulations, Arlene, Mitsuki, as expected of you two. This trial was meant to teach you to objectively evaluate your enemy's strengths and weaknesses as well as your own before making decisions on the battlefield. Your trial is now complete" my Dad's voice congratulated them.
