"Let's backtrack a bit. Today, I'll be teaching you a bit more about the Dormant and Active States Of A Sigil as well as the unique characteristics of each state" Fenrir said.

Ciella and I paid close attention.

"The fundamental state of a Sigil is the Dormant State. This is the original form the Sigil takes on after its initial summoning. The form differs per Dream Knight. The differences in form are determined by the Ideal of the Dream Knight. Every Sigil in its dormant form also possesses a unique functionality also determined by the Dream Knight's Ideal. Not all Sigils in their Dormant Form have the same degree of raw force. Some sigils in their Dormant Form are more powerful than others. These differences in raw force are mainly determined by the intensity of a Dream Knight's Faith in their Ideal. Having said this, you can liken a Sigil in its raw form to a unicellular organism. Its applications are very basic, yet are not determined solely by its form but mostly by the Dream Knight's skill in wielding it. Think of it like this, in the hands of a child, a sword is practically a harmless toy but in the hands of a competent swordsman, it can be a devastating weapon. The abilities of a Sigil in its Dormant State are greatly limited and its strength is mainly determined by the skill of the Dream Knight. A Sigil in this State is mainly used to deal Physical Damage. Dream Knights predominantly use their Sigils in the Dormant State only in situations where there is no risk of fatalities" Fenrir explained.

"Very interesting. This is certainly a more detailed explanation of the Dormant State Of A Sigil" I said.

"It's like Concordia's Kraken Andromeda assuming the form of either a Tomahawk or a Bow with Arrows or like Arlene's Christopher appearing in its Map Form" Saito explained.

"This brings us to the Active State Of A Sigil. The Active State Of A Sigil is predominantly used when Dream Knights find themselves in a situation where the risk of fatalities is high. Two things differentiate this State from the Dormant State" Fenrir said.

"Two things?" I wondered.

"The first is that the Sigil begins to act not merely as a Physical Tool but actually channels the Dream Knight's Elemental Affinities giving it a number of peculiar properties. These peculiar properties are mainly determined by the Elemental Affinity Of The Dream Knight. With each peculiar property awakens an associated functionality. The Sigil becomes capable of exhibiting characteristics that align with the properties of the Element to which the Dream Knight has an affinity. For instance, your Aunt Ai's Mysterious Oceanic Blades assume a 'Heteromorphic' trait that allows it to assume multiple forms with each form exhibiting the characteristics of one of the three states of Water. Concordia's Kraken Andromeda assumes a Barrage Of Arrows as countless as particles of Air. Your parents' Pyrostellis Luminares in its active form assumes a Heteromorphic Trait allowing it to take on a variety of forms depending on how your parents feel about a fight and at the same time assumes a 'Neurone Bonding Trait' that allows your parents to share their thoughts and experiences telepathically. The ability to channel and exhibit the characteristics of an element is the first difference between the Dormant and Active State Of A Sigil" Fenrir explained.

We listened closely.

"The second difference is that the precision and functionalities of the Sigil increase dramatically in its Active State. In its Active State, the Sigil evolves from a unicellular organism into a multicellular organism through the application of a series of 'Joints'. The 'Joints' determine what a Sigil can accomplish as well as how precisely the Sigil can perform a particular task. The 'Joints' you could say are connected to the main Sigil and the Dream Knight via a series of invisible 'Nerves'. For instance Arlene can assign mini-representations of her Sigil Christopher to other Dream Knights. She can also communicate telepathically with other Dream Knights, view all data captured by the mini-representation of her Sigil while it is in use by the Dream Knight and can disseminate information to any Dream Knight that has a mini-representation of her Sigil. Concordia can independently coordinate each arrow in her Dream Realm Border Wall Defense Formation, can alter the elemental composition of her arrows to that of any element she has an affinity for. She can amplify her Mobility by surfing on her arrows, can converge them around herself for defense and can utilize the dust form of her Sigil for Extra-Sensory Perception. The 'Joints' in a Sigil directly contribute to the Sigil's range, the number of abilities and functionalities it can perform as well as its precision. The greater the number of 'Joints', the vaster and more precise the Application of the Sigil becomes" Fenrir said seriously.
