The following day, Fenrir returned to teach us more.
"Today, we'll continue our lesson on Conductors particularly with regard to Nerves. We'll be learning a bit more about Nerves. I shall focus Today's lesson on the Topic of Association" Fenrir said.
"We're listening" Concordia said.
"As I said before, the body absorbs energy from its surroundings. All the absorbed energy in all its various forms are converted into Electric Impulses that are channeled to the Brain via the Sensory Neurones in our Nervous System. In the Brain, the Electrical Impulses are decoded and we then perceive the energy in our surroundings via the Sense that captured that form of Energy. Having said this, the body learns from each experience. Every time the body perceives something in its environment, it assigns a sort of mark to that experience. This mark is what we call an 'impression'. The body learns about the World via these impressions and feelings of like and dislike as well as those of safety and danger are assigned to these impressions. The feelings assigned to an impression are what we call an 'Association'. Positive Impressions for instance become more often than naught associated with 'Preferences'. Negative Impressions on the other hand are mostly associated with 'Displeasure'. Then we have Positive Impressions associated with 'Safety'. In situations such as these, the body relaxes and one usually finds themselves at rest. On the other hand, Negative Impressions associated with 'Danger' tense the body and our sense of alertness is greatly heightened. More often than naught, it is in situations our senses associate with 'Danger' that Extrasensory Perception is awakened. The type of Extrasensory Perception awakened in 'Dangerous Situations' more often than naught link themselves to Defensive Techniques that a person has already acquired allowing them to draw out latent experiences that can act as a temporary boost in aiding a person overcome the challenge at hand. However, Extrasensory Techniques are not only awakened in times of Crisis. They can also be awakened via 'Positive Experiences'. In such cases, there is usually an association of 'Empathy' attached to the form of Extrasensory Perception awakened. It's in cases like these that the expression 'to put oneself in another's shoes' really comes alive. Such situations allow one person to comprehend another person, their experiences and the motivations behind their actions at a very personal level" Fenrir explained.
"People who attach common associations to their experiences more often than naught have 'Common Preferences' as well. Here another kind of association is born, a 'Social Association'. Groups such as these share 'Common Interests' and 'Dislikes'. It doesn't necessarily mean that one can only get along with people that share Common Interests as themselves though that is to a large extent determined by how open minded a person is. Common Associations when they have Global Influence can shape 'Reality'" Fenrir explained.
"I see, so a person attaches an impression to every experience. When a feeling is assigned to an impression, an association of whether the experience is a Positive or Negative one is derived. When multiple people share Common Associations, a Social Association is born out of which Norms are derived and these Norms when they attain Global Influence shape Reality" I realized.
"It seems you do understand. People who are solely guided by impressions tend to be instinctual. At times it is necessary to break out of an Association to have a wider view of the World. If not, we run the risk of basing our judgement of others solely on impressions which may not necessarily be factual" Fenrir explained.
"It's quite similar to the lesson we learnt from the Sagittarius System" Keiran realized.
